DJG now has a rival=====> JUMONG! Jumong is a VERRRYYY popular historical drama. Many people in korea claim that it is perhaps like a Daejanggeum 2.... I visited the homepage for DJG today, and the discussion board was full of remarks, saying that Jumong will never top DJG... imbc.com/broad/tv/daejanggumI am a fan of both dramas. Although everyone knows that DJG is a much better production.. hehe ^^* But.... if Jumong tops Daejanggum's ratings,,,, I will be sad.... I believe that DJG is a much better drama!!!! >.< Jumong's ratings are rising rapidly, and DJG's fans are anxious ... Jumong has only 21 shows right now, and the drama is said to end at episode 54! (just like DJG -_-) So.......... are there any watchers of Jumong? I would like to know what others think ..... to say the truth, do you think Jumong deserves to top DJG?

djanggum, I was very skeptical if Jumong can beat DJG. I have watched (so far) first 8 episodes and it definitely looks like a hit. Unlike DJG which is mostly emotion and sentimental storyline, JM is action packed.
I though nothing could beat DJG but so far JM is comming close.

HMMM very interesting!
What genre is Jumong? And the storyline? Action packed... Is it some hero fighting or something? Cos if it has similiar themes and such, I really don't think it WILL or SHOULD top our great DJG... ;D

JUMONG (The Book of Three Han: The Chapter of Ju Mong) A historical drama about one of the greatest King of Korea, JuMong which is also the founder of the Goguryeo Dynasty in 37 BC. He was the son of Haemosu, the great heroic man who lost his life defending his fellow men against the ruthless men of Han dynasty. Haemosu was feared by the people of the land and there were many who tried to kill him. Finally, Haemosu was caught and blinded in front of everyone. He was shot with many arrows and fell off a cliff while trying to run away. When Jumong was born, he was adopted secretly by the king, Keum-wa. who was Haemosu's best friend. Jumong's mother, Yoo-Hwa was loved by both Haemosu and Keum-Wa. Therefore Jumong grew up as the third prince of the land, but he was hated by his step brothers. (the 1st and 2nd prince). Jumong is very misbehaved and foolish in the beginning. But after he gets kicked out of the palace, he learns how hard life can be, and changes into a whole new person. During his stay outside of the palace, he even meets Haemosu, who had miraculously survived a dozen arrows. Jumong is trained by the legendary Haemosu, not knowing that he is his father.. When Jumong returns to the palace, a tournament is started to decide who would be next in line for the throne. All the princes are anxious and there are a lot of troubles that the first two princes make for Jumong. Jumong meets the daughter of a trade marketer, Sosuhnoh. The two spend time together and soon they fall in love. However, the first prince, Daesoh falls in love with sosuhnoh at first sight and a three way love story begins... I compared the ratings for DJG and Jumong and it seems like Jumong is in the lead. Daejanggum (´ëÀå±Ý) Jumong (ÁÖ¸ù) 03/9/15 1st show 15.2% 06/5/15 1ȸ 16.3% 9/16 2nd show 16.2% 5/16 2ȸ 18.4% 9/22 3rd show 20.8% 5/22 3rd show 21.8% 9/23 4th show 22.0% 5/23 4th show 25.3% 9/29 5th show 24.6% 5/29 5th show 28.0% 9/30 6th show 26.1% 5/30 6th show 28.7% 10/6 7th show 28.4% 6/5 7th show 27.9% 10/7 8th show 31.2% 6/6 8th show 32.3% I bet if DJG and Jumong were aired at the same time, DJG would win by a farshot... Jumong may be popular now, but it won't be remembered as DJG... ^^

I would bet that the success of JuMong, even if it gains higher ratings than DJG, is still in large part due to the huge success of DJG. There is now a large audience looking for "DJG2."

Well, I heard that people are admitting that Jumong is as good as DJG in Korea, and the search for DJG2 has died down...

Dear Guest, Jumong is very entertaining but I doubt it will be popular abroad. The topic has elements of history where Korea is in a constant battle with China. I am sure that many Chinese will shy away from such topic. Jumong is the founder to Goguryeo. Gogureo and Goryeo are the names in which the modern name "Korea" came from.

i agree with you. I am watching jumong right now, but it will never be popular in foreign countries like DJG. the drama is good, but not a classic.
the ratings for DJG was 57.8% at the end.... jumong is in the 40's right?

Umm.. I think I would have to disagree... Yes it's true that Jumong is verry popular right now, but... it's not the kind of drama that you would watch over and over again without getting sick of it... It's good if you're watching it only once and for all, but I wouldn't really recommend buying the whole set of DVD's, because in my case, I would never view it umm... more than 2 times or so. Or maybe it's because I'm not the "war" kind of person. I mean, the story is a bit dragging sometimes. I'm not meaning to criticize or anything, but I don't really think it will be popular, because after all, it's korea's battle with china... right? (Hyun Toe Goon.. sp?) when djg first came out, there were some chinese people who criticized the drama because korean culture was based on the chinese (well.. some of it...) and they claim that a chinese historical drama should be aired first, because it has a longer history.. i think..? But anyways...
DJG didn't even have anything criticizing China and yet, there were if not many, some complaints... In Jumong, the Chinese are viewed as rude and disrespectful people. Imagine how many complaints there would be... China makes up most of Asia, and DJG became popular mainly because of its popularity in Hong Kong.. This is a random question but... Does anyone else here think that Jumong and So Suh Noh are not a good couple? I felt that their romance thing was too rushed, and umm... they just dont make a good couple... Maybe it's just me.. *****I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE DRAMA "JUMONG" TO THOSE WHO WILL NOT BE OFFENDED BY THE DRAMA'S CRITICISM ON THE CHINESE....****
