I haven't heard much from KHJ's career... and I haven't heard much about LYA's plans to cast in a new drama or movie.. hmm

kiparang, for your absolute passion in defending KHJ, i think you should set up a fan website for her. I haven't found one yet on the WEB. Is there one? There, nobody will argue or contradict your statements. You can praise her acting to high heavens and everybody will say amen. I haven't seen any or her series or films. But your ardent defense of her acting prowess makes me kind of curious.

ooh I agree with pearl... It seems like you're a really big fan of KHJ. You should make a separate page so that you and everyone will agree with your comments about KHJ~ *^^*

Thank you, but no thank you, Pearl. I think I will pass. I am a very busy person and don't have time or skill for setting up a webpage for her. I don't even know to upload pictures. I am just satisfied that I let people realize that she was the person that Daejanggeum director/producers wanted for the role of Janggeum in the first place. In fact, they wanted her so much that she had to plead (several times) to be excused from consideration for the role because of prior commitment to another mega project. I am also satisfied that I have piqued enough interest or curiosity of some of the board members that they may check out her dramas in the future. Many Ji Jin-hee lovers of the board already know her(or about her) because she starred along with him in the drama "Miss Kim's Adventure in Seeking a Million Dollars," in which she delivered a marvelous comic performance. I have just found out that there are several fansites on her in Korean but none in English that I know. But you can check on her in "AsianFanatics.net" under the name of "Kim Hyun Ju" in which her international fans uploaded her pictures and discussed her performances. By the way, according to industry insiders, KHJ is probably the most Janggeum-like person in real life among all the major Korean actresses. She is perenially optimistic, kind, and ready to help others. She is also very down-to-earth and straightforward. But she is no goody-goody, I assure you. She is famous--, in fact, she is 'worshipped', for her willingness to go extra mile to help (and be friendly to) others on the set: staff/crew members and other actors/actresses including fringe ones. People just love to work with her. Believe me, such persons are not frequently found on the entertainment scene: Korean or otherwise. I am pretty sure that people of this board will love KHJ nearly as much as me when they get a chance to watch her remarkable performances in various dramas and get to know her real personality. But for now I am ready to move on. Unless somebody provokes me on an unsubstantiated claim again.

yup! Everyone who attended the discussion are all used to be the eyeball-catcher for KHJ no matter which opinion he/she stands. What an ingenious person kiparang you are! I admire you! :-*Do you become this ingenious because you have been in entertainment industry?

whatever you people say, why don't you just count the award/s each had received so far? i think that would settle the issue..

hey kiparang, im from the phils., where the korean wave is hitting high and strong. i caught a glimpse of "glass slippers" before but i never got glued to it. i can hardly recall the face of the lead actress, or what you call her name is KHJ. if she is really that great an actress as you say she is, how come glass slippers didn't hit it big here as compared to lots of korean dramas? and by the way, even assuming she was offered the lead role in DJG first, that doesn't necessarily mean she is a better actor than the second one who got it eventually. Its non-sequituur! don't you think your judgment is blinded by your passion with "what's her name again?" on the other hand, DJG was a certified hit here... and please don't judge LYA's acting by what she had gone thru or had been in the past because you can never really tell what went on under the obtaining circumstances. your arguments do not rest on solid grounds... rather, they sound more like sour-graping...

"Ingenenious?" Haha! I don't know, mortal. Thanks, anyway. I really appreciate your compliment. You seem to be one of the few persons on this thread who understands my real motive for starting it. Thanks, again. Emanon, sorry for being unable to provide her pictures. As for who she is, you will know if you read this thread from the beginning. You could look at some of her pictures if you visit "asianfanatics.net/forum". Click on "Korean entertainment" and then click on "Korean Female Artists". Then look up "Kim Hyun Ju". There are about a dozen pictures but I don't like most of them. KHJ is far prettier than them. Curlyshue and tsktsktsk, I am sorry that you did not enjoy "Glass Slippers" because it is one of the most successful drama series ever, with ratings over 40%. Very entertaining, too. As I mentioned in an earlier posting, Prime Minister of Vietnam and his first lady and his ministers wanted to meet her so much when they visited Korea a couple of years ago that the Korean government invited her to the state dinner honoring them. The drama series enjoyed a very high ratings in other Asian countries, too. If there is another chance, try it again, from the first episode, if possible. As for awards, KHJ received ten although she has been in the industry for a far shorter period than LYA. I am pretty sure that KHJ has the better batting rate on an yearly basis. But I don't put too much importance on these awards. Still, the quality and impartiality seem to be improving. There are no sour grapes. Really. And KHJ is just one of the several Korean actresses I really like. But I definitely prefer actors and actresses which whom there are no major discrepancies between the public persona and the private person. But we do not want to get into that, do we? Anyway, I thank you all who have participated in discussion on this thread. Because they wouldn't be here if they did not love K-dramas.

Oops! Sorry, mortal. I would like to take back what I said in the previous post. I almost always have some difficulty in differentiating between the word "ingenious" and the word "ingenuous". These two words have nearly opposite meaning, as you know, mortal. Although I know you meant it as compliment, I have not been "ingenious" in connection with this thread. (But I still thank you.) I have started this thread innocently enough. I have no hidden agenda against anybody.
Folks, I also take back the sentence containing "major discrepancies". Let's just move on. Other board members may have have sickening feeling about this thread being at the top day after day. Thanks.

hahaha i think i should probably bring this up: KHJ and LYA weren't the only people suggested to take the role of JG. there were others, including Park Eun Hae, who played the role of JG's friend, Yeon Sang instead~ She says that she does not regret her decision, because she thinks LYA did a nice job.. Unfortunately I can't imagine Park Eun Hae as JG... hmm .. I dont think there are many actresses out there who are suitable for the role.. ^^* I also think it would have been kind of awkward if Kyun Miri (Lady Choi) played the role of Lady Han... (she was about to at first) but then the director changed his mind and said that Lady Choi would suit her better... haha.. I used to be a big fan of KHJ. she's really pretty but now i dont see a lot of her.... i thought she looked cute with JJH. ^^ but now im a leeyoungae fan.. a BIIIIIGGGGG fan. for 6 years. yayy i think i became a fan after watching this commercial for KT... and then I watched JSA and became a big fan, and then I watched One Fine Spring Day and became a even bigger fan and then i watched DJG and became a BIIIIGGG fan and then I watched S4LV and became even a biiiiiiiiiggggggger fan and now I am obsessed with everything she does.. lol her personality has changed too. during DJG, she used to be really tired and people called her as a cold woman. they said that because they didn't really have a chance to talk to her because she was so busy memorizing her lines. i really think she has gotten nicer. you can tell by her patience and her ability to handle the media and pressure. Or maybe it's just my addiction.... [glow=red,2,300]anyways... I'm glad that KHJ chose not to play the role of JG. Not because I'm a LYA fan, but because she kept her image alive. If she had casted in two historical dramas, people would not call her KHJ. They would call her by "the historical lady" or "JG" instead of her name. That is what most Korean actresses care most about in their acting. Their image. LYA suffered from this too. That is why she casted in S4LV, which is the opposite image of DJG. She was sick and tired of being called "JG" all the time. At first it may seem funny and cute, but it gets tiring afterwards. [/glow] and besides, KHJ doesn't need DJG to be popular... she's attractive talented, etc..... right?
