i was wondering if anybody could give me input on if it's worth buying love letter. I watched the first episode, and it seemed really good, however my mom, keeps telling me it's a boring movie later on. is it or not? I really appreciate the inputs.

I really liked it. It has an original plot line and it has the world's most gorgeous man-Ji Jin-hee, so I would buy it.
How much are they selling it for? I don't think it would be too expensive since it is only 16 episodes.

thanks for replying. i was looking at ebay, and they have it for $60 with shipping. i was thinking if i don't like it anyways, i'll just re-sell it and get my money back. i really liked the first episode, it seemed like it would be interesting. have you seen full house or all about eve or hotelier? out of all the 3 which one do you recomend.?

$60 including shipping is not bad at all. Have you checked if it has subtitles (in case you need them) and if your DVD player will be able to play it, something you might want to look into.
I haven't seen any of the other three you mentioned, although I have heard good things re: All About Eve & Hotelier.
Maybe you can go to koreanwiz.org and check if the description captures your attention. Another good source is kfbd.com (I think that's the address) and check if they have any threads for those dramas. If you read other people's comments, it might give you a good idea on whether it it worth it or not.

Love Letter is way up there, probably my second or third favorite. I really liked Who's My Love (I would say that that's my favorite), Yellow Handkerchief, Love Letter, and right now I am enjoying Winter Love Song.
I just felt that Love Letter had really good actors and a really good plot line.

I just recieved love letter in the mail today, and I am already on the 5th episode. i love that movie. i really love the characters too. my mom saw me watching it, and she goes, "I told you not to buy that movie." im thinking to myself, I like it so far. hopefully she's wrong ,and you seemed to like it as well. if I like the begining, i'm sure i'll like the rest. usually movies with bad beginings are horrible. oh, your watching winter love song, that is one of my favorite movies. i love that movie, the chemestry between the 2 are really good. i've never seen who's my love, and yellow handkerchief. are they dramas too?

Hi, Hannah, welcome to the board. I think the part about your mother telling you that you should not have bought the movie is very funny--I hope you like it better than she did.
Who's My Love was an hourly drama, and it ran for about 85 episodes. It was about a very large extended family that lived in a four-floor villa, and followed them for a year, as all of the (grand)sons and two of the aunts got married. It's not on DVD, but many of us really wish it was.
Yellow Handkerchief (also called Yellow Ribbon, I believe) was a daily drama, and it followed several pairs of star-crossed lovers. It was fun, complicated and absorbing. (The funny thing about YH is that I hated the first episode, so I did not watch for awhile; I got into it about episode 14, and then I was sorry that I missed so much. So your theory does not always hold!)
If you ever get a chance to see either one of these, they are well worth your time. There are descriptions on both of the sites galacticchick recommended to you.

Chibi Ayu- Hey- I am actually on episode 12 right now. i normally would have finnished watching it, but i work long night shift hours. i'm on the part where he is in the church with his uncle preaching, and he says, "excuse me for a minute," and then he leaves and goes in a room to cry, and he's screaming, "why are you testing me" It's so sad so far. I was crying a lot. I used 5 tissues. and while i was driving to work, i felt so sad. its amazing how a movie can mess with your emotions like that. so now i'm at work, and I feel so lousy and depressed, because of that movie. lol i'll keep you updated, as soon as I finnish it. there is only 4 more episodes left to watch.

by anychance, have you seen love letter in complete? Unfortunately, I was only able to see a couple of episodes of that drama, so I'm not even sure if I liked it. I saw the first episode when he's a little boy, and one where he comes to the school and meets the girl, and a couple when they are a little older (I'm not sure how far you are so I won't say more). I wish I had seen more of the show, because when I went back to see later episodes, I did not know what was going on. I just did not have time to watch this one when it was airing. But I think we can take galacticchick's word that it's worth watching--she's the big expert on romance dramas around here! Bo PS - what is "chibi ayu"?

PS - what is "chibi ayu"? Chibi Ayu is the little girl I have for my avatar. Chibi is japanese for little and Ayu is the nickname of one of the J-pop queens. They were holding a look alike contest and she was one of the winners. hannah, I know what you mean about Love Letter. I kind of found that not too many people in the Chicago board seemed into it. Most of the threads ended after a couple of posts. I really liked it though, so if you want to discuss it, I'm here. I kept most of my Love Letter tapes.

galacticchick-
oh man, i just finnished watching love letter, and i'm so not sure what to think. I think i'm just shocked. i really expected her to be dead at the end, and when I saw she was alive, I was really surprised. I was hoping she would be alive, because too many korean dramas, have the female die from a disease./ but then again, it seemed unreal that that would really happen in real life right?
the part that made it so romantic, and you knew it was going to be a happy ending, was when andrew goes,"if you wake up again, lets love ok?" HOw romantic. it's wierd though cause you don't know how it will work out with him being a priest now?
it really irritated me that she kept wanting and begging him to become a priest!!!!!
did I cry!!!! I used like half the tissues i had. but i really did over all enjoy this movie. the characters really do touch your heart, and I think it was because of the chemestry they had with each other. I feel like this movie has really made me think about life in a different life about love, and the world how precious every moment really is.
