If anybody watches YH did you notice that they had this sentence going across the top part of the screen? All I understood is that something will be happening 9/25 from 4-6.
Does anybody know what that is? Michael Han?!? Where are you?

Well, I struggled with my Korean-English dictionary and the pause control, and was able to pick out the words "native land", "genius", "Korean-American TV","fund raising", "afternoon", "this office", "friendship"(?), and "city hall".
Having only an infintessimal knowlege of Korean syntax and grammar, I can only suppose there'll be some fund raising going on Thursday afternoon - on air, at WOCH's office, city hall?

In Los Angeles, KTE is currently having some kind of a fund-raising drive for victims of the typhoon that recently hit Korea. Maybe that's what your Chicago station is doing as well -- Mikey

Quite likely - I also thought I saw a word that means 'wind', but the spelling was different enough that I wasn't very sure.

what i think is that one of the actors from "mermaid lady" may be coming to chicago, that's my guess since they seem to mention the drama, but i have no idea why he may be coming.

I saw a little bit of it today. They had KBS and YTN clips of the typhoon damage, and then people talking in the lobby of what is probably Foster Bank, where KBC has their offices. One of the people talking, who was in the promo for it they ran the past couple of nights, must have been the actor - only someone in show buisiness would dare wear a suit like that! ;D

If you mean what Candy and Soju are referring to, they were advertising that 2 of the actors of the drama 'mermaid lady' were going to be at Foster Bank, here in Chicago, from 4-6pm on Sept. 25th.
Note: I don't actually remember the exact date and time they mentioned in the ad so I'm just going by the time and date that you provided.

Does anybody know what that is? Michael Han?!? Where are you? I know you will probably want to hang me for this, but one of the male character from Y.H. was at Foster Bank for autographs to raise financial support for the flood victims in South Korea. I think Knov1 had most of information correct. From now on, I will try to keep you all informed about what's going on when events do come under my radar. If I had known about it earlier, I would've contacted the station manager, Mr. Choi, to put that liner in English as well during the program.

Well, Michael, I don't want to hang you...but I do admit to wanting to scream very loud at the top of my lungs! Wow...I'm not that far from Foster Bank and I sure would've loved to meet anyone from the cast of YH. Do you know, by chance, which one it was? Yes, please do have them slip a subtitled announcement or something somewhere in the commercial break or before or after the show, if anything like this should happen again. And if you time to put up post here, even better. Oh well. Jade

It was a main character, NOT FROM Y.H., but from Lady Mermaid. His name is Kim Sung-tak and looks like this:

You know, that's kind of what I was thinking. And yep, that's the picture of the guy I was talking about. Some other commercials advertise some kind of event that I guess have to do with musical guests, I would love to attend or at least be informed about this.
I know you've got a lot on your plate Michael, but believe me: If you subtitle, we will come.

Well, I hope I don't sound too predatory, but WOW, is that guy cute! It's a good thing I didn't know about the bank appearance.
Did he come all the way from Korea for this appearance (and others like it, I suppose)?

I don't know, but I'm guessing one of his relatives lives here in Chicago, and that he was only visiting (Please note this isn't a fact, but a GUESS!)

It happened again!
Very early, in ep. 151 of YH (10/22 pm broadcast) a line of Korean script ran across the bottom of the screen for a minute or so. I just want to be sure if it was an important announcement to viewers, we who only read English don't miss it again, like we did the announcement of the Korean drama cast member visiting Chicago.
Can Michael or anyone tell us anything?
