The opening titles for this one are on YouTube. Was surprised to see Ahjagae and his wife included. So it looks like they’re not going anywhere, at least not for the time being.
Another entire episode devoted to this medicine fiction. Considering what we’ve gotten throughout the series I’m amazed that they’re devoting so much time to this. We’re 64 percent through the series and you’d think it’s way past time to start telling WG’s story as emperor. The series has been terrific so far (with the exception of this entire Sangju storyline), but you have to wonder why the writers aren’t moving ahead faster.
You figured this would be a big one—they sprang for a harpist to add to the music. Ooooohh
Geez whatever you guys do, don’t spill that bowl! Awfully high stakes for one plain bowl that gets emptied by a stubbed toe. Or fumbled by the sick patient.
Ahjagae: “How strange. It has no taste.” Yeah? Well when the bowl is EMPTY that’s what you get! This is driving me insane. Put some freaking liquid in the cups and bowls when the actors have to drink! Strangely enough when his wife hands him the bowl you can definitely see the dark liquid, but when he starts to “drink” they cut away from his face when he would be swallowing, and when they come back to him there’s no evidence of the dark liquid anywhere on his lips or in his mouth.
Did they have to play the violent-reaction-to-the-medicine card again? We just saw Goongyae go through the same thing. Been there, done that. And the face-reading silliness, all that’s doing is draining some of the uncertainty from the story as we’re watching it.
But hey this is one smart physician who came along with the medicine, knowing “propitious” effects of a medicine he had no personal experience with. Let’s give this guy credit.
Why does Madame Kobe always have to speak after Mrs. KH speaks? It’s starting to get annoying.
Funny, the first thing I thought when I saw Bekjae’s ginseng was How will that end up getting to Buyong? If I were trying to write my way out of this mess I’d have Park ask for the thing and bring it home. You think it would half-cure Buyong since it’s half as old? How silly things have gotten.
Of course, the bar for silly was raised to the heavens when a single dose of ginseng medicine completely eradicated an advanced case of stomach cancer. Sometimes I get picky about questionable things in these series that probably wouldn’t distract or bother most people...but how could anyone not find it ridiculous to see one dose of plant medicine cure cancer? This is very lazy work by the writers. At the very least give him an ongoing course of multiple doses. Even that is shaky but they should have tried to come up with something like that to make the whole thing less absurd.
Doyoung: “Let her give birth to a hundred sons. I care not.” Well you sure aren’t acting like you care not. You very much not care not. Grow up.
This scholar guy who got the imperial guardian job seems to be handling it surprisingly well. And how about this, Bok Jikyum is already pressing on the Lee Honnam situation that nobody else sees as a pressing problem. He is worth his weight in gold to WG.
Poor Daegu...she obviously needs therapy, has a lot of repressed frustration about something...and now she owes a huge debt to the annoying Goryean who won’t leave her alone. Yet another woman in a lousy situation.
Isn’t it odd that no one has brought up the subject of what happens to independent Sangju once Ahjagae leaves? Wouldn’t you think that’s the first question that everyone would be discussing? Or do we just assume that if he moves to Goryeo his territory becomes part of Goryeo? Because that wasn’t part of the deal. Ugh, let’s please wrap this up and get on with other things.
