Yunhwa, while screaming with childbirth pains: “I must have done much evil in my past life. This is karma.” Yeah this one was a real pick-me-up wasn’t it?
Attendant Jin is worth five times whatever he’s getting paid. He really does try hard to look out for the people he’s entrusted with. You don’t see a lot of initiative-taking among attendants.
Goongyae: “Advisor was blind when he recommended her.” Once again: will there be consequences for that?
Jongkahn: “The empress can’t be blamed. Perhaps everything is my fault.” Uhh....perhaps?
“In retrospect, I made a grave mistake.” Okay well now we’re getting closer.
“Instead of undergoing judicial process, I will rule with my second sight.” Doink! The way Jongkahn and Eunbu reacted was hilarious...Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
The one thing I didn’t like in this one was how that monk Dowe who’s been sucking up to Captain Yim just happened somehow to turn up Yu Geungdal’s former caretaker...presumably from Choongju, which is a long distance from where they are now, and with no explanation of how he did it. You can see what the writers are trying to do here—bring in the reveal of the ganja icon at the worst possible moment for WG—but come on, that was awfully far-fetched to just throw at us without a plausible explanation for how he did it. Because this really does need considerable explaining.
So in case you’d gotten a bit foggy on the year at the moment, it’s 916 right now.
“I am told you are Kyun-hwon’s father, old man.” Well there ya go, what a disaster that was. WG bungled this one big-time. If he’s going to recall Park Sulhee, he should have at least made sure that his replacement was properly briefed on how to deal with crazy old Ahjagae, and was stocked up with plenty of that grape wine Ahjagae lies. Huge mistake by WG.
But good for Yi Honnam for sucking it up and trying to make the best of it.
Kyun-hwon: “I’ve repeatedly made the same mistakes though I vowed not to every time. It is because I was unable to restrain my emotions.” All right, at least he admits it now. Hope this insight puts an end to it because it was getting very annoying.
I didn’t believe it at first but it really looks like Goongyae’s going to do in his own wife and kids. Hard to see it not happening now, and it would explain why they wrote in the storyline with Madame Bukwon. However good or bad the next episode is, it won’t be uneventful.

■ Hyung-mi: He entered priesthood at age of 15 as a disciple of Bojo, and received the Doctrine of Discipline from Hwa-Um temple. Born in 864 A.D., he was 52 years of age at this time. He returned to Korea in 905 after being taught in Tang by high monk Do-ung, and was one of the four greatest monks of Zen Buddhism in Korea along with Yi-um, Yuh-um, and Kyung-yu. His relations with Wang Guhn would not be long, unfortunately, as he would soon meet his end demonstrating his belief.
