Haven’t felt this way before but this episode was a bit repetitive. Goongyae’s sickness, Jongkahn trying to thwart WG, Yunhwa’s stressed about her dad, Ahjitae is scheming, Ahjagae and Daeju bickering about Bekjae...a little too much same old same old.
Goongyae: “I must have exerted myself reading all night.” You dumbbell! He should know better than to do that in his condition, and with his desire to stay alive to oversee his northern campaign. When it started happening, I kind of groaned a little, just because we’ve seen this repeatedly already. But it was worse this time. So okay, fair enough.
Surprised that Yunhwa’s father told her exactly what he’s doing. She didn’t need to know, and more importantly, the walls in a palace are thin and plenty of attendants heard him.
Ahjitae: “His majesty is difficult to fathom. His judgment is completely off sometimes....” Because he suggested naming WG the Imperial Guardian instead of you? What an ego! WG is the only one he feels he can trust—why is that so difficult to fathom? Sheesh.
Buyong to Suin: “You always become tense when Doyoung is mentioned.” Well she didn’t seem tense that time, not at all. Something was missed there, by the actress or director or both.
Kyun-hwon: “My brother has been captured. But his brother is on the fence doing nothing! Two men have sworn brotherhood to live and die together. One has been taken to death, and the other is debating time and opportunity. Which country’s army are you?” Yet again another first-rate scene coming from a Bekjae council meeting. Whoever handled this part of the series did a great job.
Mrs. KH: “Another war after that unspeakable loss?...It is unreasonable to fight again after losing so many lives.” See, she gets it. Wish we’d see more of her and she’d have some clout. That would be an interesting angle.
Ahjagae to his daughter, yapping at him about not supporting his son KH: “Don’t start that again!” I agree. Been there, done that.
Wow, no kidding it’s worse this time. Goongyae looks like one of those zombies from Kingdom!
Okay he looks much better the next morning. The different make-up job helps a ton with that, doesn't it. Oh well gotta love TV.
Loved Sudal glaring daggers at Goongyae—what a story this has turned into. Anybody else find it beyond strange that they had a bonfire all set up and ready to go right there in the palace courtyard? Ugh. But that was some cliffhanger right there; I kept waiting for WG to step forward and show some backbone and put a stop to this. Will he?
