Yunhwa: “Where is the physician? He was hiding something from me, and now he is nowhere to be found.” And there it is already. That was a dumb move by Jongkahn.
Goongyae: “I cannot tell whether you are the leaders of this state or a bunch of foul animal droppings!” The more things change....
...and the very next morning, every drug store in Chulwon sold out of cough drops.
Good writing, the way we jumped from one post-assembly meeting to another and heard how everyone was reacting to what happened. Nicely done sequence.
Wow that turned out to be a very meaningful scene over at Yu Geungdal‘s place. Especially how WG just sat there when Yu was criticizing Goongyae so severely. WG doesn’t react like he used to any more when people criticize Goongyae.
“What am I to do?” Made me laugh, WG is right back to squirming about a woman.
Lots of nighttime scenes in dark rooms in this one. Was KBS late paying the electric bill?
Kyun-hwon: “I’ve been quite frustrated since we lost Geumsung. It has cut off our cultural exchange with Wuyue.” And then just as I was Googling, we got this:
Wuyue was a small state on the east coast of the Chinese mainland. So it makes sense that once Bekjae lost Geumsung, which was their western coastline, they lost their easy sailing route to Wuyue. Not sure why they couldn’t just sail over and around from the south; maybe we’ll get that explained to us eventually.

Well that was quite the ending. I didn’t like it. Calling WG the “true Maitreya,” I hope that was just done for dramatic effect for a cliffhanger.

The cultural exchange that Kyun-hwon mentions is worth taking notice. Soon after Kyun-hwon erected his kingdom, he established diplomatic relations with the kingdom of Wuyue in China and gained recognition for himself and his empire. This was not unlike how Silla had put itself on the map through diplomatic relations with Tang. From this, we could conclude that Kyun-hwon was awakened to diplomatic intercourse ahead of Goongyae.
