Sorry this took so long. Sick parent plus holidays equals not much free time.
“Do you know why I saved this man? It is because there may be greater turmoil if I let him die. This could be against Heaven’s decree.” Okay, good job writers. They made a point of giving us an explanation rather than just steaming forward and ignoring it. It wasn’t really clear why Sulbu would go ahead and heal Goongyae considering what he (Sulbu) said when he first arrived. But now we understand. You can agree or disagree but at least we know.
Jongkahn just couldn’t start sucking up again fast enough. “No one will hurt you, not as long as I am alive.” A little late for that one, pal.
And again Yunhwa so deliriously happy—anybody else surprised by this? I really figured she’d be rather indifferent to it all, considering how worried she is about how he’s been acting and how he’s treated their sons. Hopefully we get some insight into that.
But overall the whole thing was well done. The darkness and the quiet, it all worked.
And then another really good scene in the prison cell. This time WG didn’t just shut Ahjitae up immediately. Told him to stick it...but he heard what Ahjitae said.
Ahjitae: “They say ancient warlord Ts’ao Ts’ao was delighted when he was called the Greatest Villain.” Had no clue on that one so I checked into it...it’s Cao Cao, the Chinese warlord from around 200 AD. We’ve had references to him here before.

“I’d like to hear what you know as well.” You wondered how Goongyae was going to hear about everything that happened while he was unconscious. The way they wrote this and presented it, I liked it much more than him just getting spin and deception from Jongkahn. Because now it’s all gonna hit the fan and that should make for a great scene.
Lord Yu: “How can anyone survive a poisoned arrow?” Why is everybody so shocked by this? Maybe the poison wasn’t properly made or an ingredient went bad and the stuff wasn’t strong enough. Why would that be such a weird thing....okay you might not expect it most of the time but Goongyae is strong and healthy so it’s not at all impossible.
Ahjagae’s nasty wife: “Why must you make enemies in this harsh world?” So speaketh the old battleaxe.
Goongyae: “It is a carefully plotted conspiracy to bring this kingdom down, and Advisor fell for it.” He’s half right, isn’t he...but it’s so obvious that the whole thing’s a setup, you wonder if Jongkahn actually realizes the tough hole he’s digging himself into. You can understand why he’s doing what he’s doing, especially with Ahjitae—and that analogy he made at the end of the episode about him being a dog loyal to his master, that was another good addition by the writers to help emphasize the person’s motivation—but it’s just not a credible accusation and even if he can sell it to most of the public, Goongyae won’t buy it and is going to be so pissed off, it could cost him his life.
And now we will find out just how pissed off....
p.s. We've now gone seven episodes without a narrated text. Wonder why.
