“I have a friend named Sukchong who visits me now and then. He has told me this man is a phony Maitreya.” HA! I sure don’t like this guy being brought into the story but he does seem like an interesting character. “I have a feeling I might regret this.” Well we know Goongyae is going to recover somehow, so you have to wonder what this guy’s fate is going to be.
Park Yu: “Years of practice generate supernatural healing powers.” UGH.
Ahjitae: “Politics is power. There is no truth.” Don’t we know it! Enough said about that.
“You will not live to your potential if you do not transcend the bounds of moralistic contradiction.” It’s a shame Ahjitae has been a huge pain in the butt. He does seem to be a very insightful thinker.
Yunhwa surprised me, and not in a good way—overreacting like she did to what her parents said to her. Yes this is exactly the time she needs to be thinking about regency and who would succeed Goongyae. She’s smarter than that. But at least she didn’t drink the Kool-Aid like her mom apparently did about “the Wang clan’s guilt.”
Wait a minute, where did Wang’s two teachers get writing paper and ink to write that letter that Commander Yeom intercepted? Something doesn’t add up here.
Loved the discussion between Lord Kang and Bok Jikyum. That’s about as much sense as I’d ever heard from him, and he was fired up about it too.
Mrs. Kyun-hwon: “What is so pleasurable about wars that he has to go himself?” Geez lady it’s like you don’t even know your own husband!
So the “healer” waves his hands over Goongyae and Goongyae snaps out of it. This is a very disappointing turn of events. Not that he snapped out of it but the supernatural-healing silliness. Of course it could just be a coincidence, but they’re not portraying it that way. I really do hate it when a traditional historical has to throw in some mystical nonsense. We got some of that with Master Dosun but it seemed like that was all being left in the past. Too bad. But I’m just glad Goongyae is awake again because things have sort of stalled lately with him unconscious. We know he doesn’t die at this point and we know that WG doesn’t die either, so what is the point of all this? Did it actually happen in real history? We now have gone six episodes without a single narrated text so who knows. Yes this series has earned our trust, time and again. But it’s asking a lot of us right now. So yay, Goongyae awakens and we move forward.
