Say what you will about Ahjitae, he’s right about the capital location regardless of what Koryo does in the future. Bitter irony for Jongkahn that he pushed the capital to be in Song-ak to thwart what he perceived as a threat to his king, and now someone has come along who legitimately poses a threat of sorts and it’s the choice of capital that’s causing the trouble.
Geez of all the people we’ve seen in this series, the old monk Huhwal is about the last person you’d ever expect to just show up out of the blue. How weird was that.
“He was a true anchorite.” Had never heard that word before. It means religious recluse, like a hermit. Not really sure how that’s an endorsement for a scholar...but hey it’s vocabulary time and we learned a new word.
“The more power you have the better!” Hmm, so even Lord Park is flat-out admitting selfish motives. Still, it seems odd that anyone would begrudge him his desire for a son to carry on the family name. Is he supposed to forego that just because of his daughter’s situation? Maybe so...she is the freaking empress, not exactly small potatoes. And Goongyae made his thoughts on all this very clear, so that’s really all that matters isn’t it.
...and wow Yunhwa got angrier than we’ve ever seen her. That was a major outburst by her standards.
“I was a youthful maiden yesterday, and today a wrinkled old woman.” Seriously? Maybe she’s just in a feel-sorry-for-myself mood because geez she’s aged incredibly well. To me she looks better than Madame Kobe regardless of being older.
Is it just me or was Kyun-hwon a little rough with that baby?
And now it’s VP Choi angrier than we’ve ever seen him—he really chewed out general Sudal there didn’t he.
Just an aside--let’s hear it for all of those soldiers who stand guard out there in pouring rain. We always see them and they get no credit. Just like the girl attendants who stand outside royal chambers for hours slumped forward.
WG: “You have the dignified manner required for the job.” Now he’s sending Yu Geumpil as an envoy? Okay so obviously learned from the Park Sulhee idiocy and explicitly said “dignified manner.” But still, an experienced envoy is the person to be doing this, not a military commander with no experience in international relations. Again WG not showing the smarts he usually shows.
Wow that pouring rain stopped in a big hurry, didn’t it? And nothing’s wet, and nobody’s wet. Oops. A rare continuity error there.
And now the two women are instantly eyeing each other like rivals. Ugh.
And now again. Oh boy this is gonna get old in a big hurry.
“The details are outlined in the letter I sent, my lady.” Okay WG did spell out some sort of terms in that letter after all. I faulted this for not being mentioned so give credit in the end, it was there.
And now she’s butting into his relationship with the Yu family? This is ridiculous already. Very poor choice of a cliffhanger ending. She’s being as selfish and reckless as Park Sulhee was! Pining for the lady warrior...This is supposed to be all about getting a better future for her father’s city and her family business but within minutes it’s suddenly it’s all about her scoping out her marriage chances. I’m half surprised she didn’t get up and start peeing all around the table to mark her territory. Even if the real Doyoung did go to Yungju to seal the deal for Geumsung, I just can’t believe she would have acted like this. Let’s get her back to Geumsung and move on please. Yecch.
