Eps 1 & 2
Ha Won is the head of a tech company. He's developing a device that people can interact with for therapeutic purposes. Ji Soo is Ha Won's first love. They grew up together in Norway. Ji Soo is married to In Wook. He is a pianist. Ji Soo suffers from depression and carries the guilt of a mistake In Wook made that's tied to Ha Won and his mother. Burdened by this, Ji Soo wants to apologize to Ha Won but is hesitant to meet or talk to him. She returns to Norway to get away from everything and dies in a bad snowstorm.
Seo Woo is a classical music recording engineer. She's a positive person despite having no family or home. She meets Ha Won when he's passing by her recording studio and hears the music she's playing. Ha Won buys the recording studio allowing Seo Woo to keep her job when it's due to close. After meeting Ha Won and Ji Soo, she attempts to help repair their relationship. Seo Woo admires that Ha Won has loved Ji Soo all this time.
-------------------
I figured A Piece of Your Mind would have a depressing beginning. It didn't disappointment lol. Prior to the drama airing, I thought Ji Soo had already died and the device was Ha Won's way of keeping her memory alive. Her dying in the present made the whole thing even sadder. I'm curious where the conflict in Ha Won and Seo Woo's relationship will come from. It doesn't look like there's going to be a love triangle and neither have family to object.

Eps 3 & 4
Ha Won, Seo Woo and In Wook struggle with Ji Soo's death. Seo Woo learns about Ha Won's company, about the device he's working on and why he wanted to record Ji Soo's voice. Ha Won gives the device to Seo Woo since he can't get "Ji Soo" to talk to him. While talking to the device about Ha Won, Seo Woo finally gets Ji Soo to respond. Ji Soo concludes that Seo Woo is in love with Ha Won. Seo Woo reveals to Ha Won that she got Ji Soo to talk without mentioning that her feelings for Ha Won were the trigger. Ji Soo will only talk to Seo Woo but not Ha Won.
Seo Woo has Ha Won stay quiet while she converses with Ji Soo. If Ji Soo knows Ha Won is around, she won't want to talk. Seo Woo reveals that her parents died in a forest fire that destroyed their hometown. She hasn't been back there since. Ha Won and Seo Woo visit the last places Ji Soo was at in Seoul based on photographs she took. While Seo Woo is talking to Ji Soo with Ha Won present, Ji Soo mentions Seo Woo's feelings for Ha Won and asks if he knows. Seo Woo tries to change the subject since Ha Won is there but when Ji Soo presses the issue, Seo Woo admits that she's in love with Ha Won.
------------
I'm just going to refer to the device as Ji Soo going forward. Seo Woo is essentially in love with Ha Won for the way he loves Ji Soo. This is a slower paced series but I'm liking it so far.

Seo Woo convinces Ji Soo to talk to Ha Won. Seo Woo wants Ha Won to stop the conversations with Ji Soo and move on with his life. She tells Ha Won that she will give up on her unrequited love and that he should too. Ha Won isn't ready for that. Ha Won has one final conversation with Ji Soo and tells her to rest in peace. Ha Won seeks out Seo Woo after hearing she's having a rough day at work. Ha Won has decided to move on from Ji Soo and urges Seo Woo not to give up on her unrequited love. Seo Woo calls Ha Won and tells him that she never gave up on her unrequited love and wants him to find out about it. Ha Won tells Seo Woo that's she's the reason he's ready to move on and wants her to "stay" to see how things progress between them.

Ha Won tells Seo Woo that he'll try to return the favor and be the person that "stays" for her. In Wook asks Seoo Woo about the plant from Ji Soo at the studio. Ha Won learns from Hoon about a series of letters Ji Soo wrote but Hoon hides the letter in which Ji Soo talks about In Wook. Ha Won only reads a latter in which Ji Soo mentions finding out the reason for the death of Ha Won's mom. Ha Won suspects In Wook might have been involved and that's why Ji Soo was miserable. Soon Ho learns about Ha Won and Seo Woo when she finds Ha Won at the recording studio by himself. Ha Won says he was there because he missed Seo Woo. I thought I would post here instead of the other post and let you know that I am enjoying A Piece of Your Mind, even if it is still hard to follow-- wonder if that is why the ratings were so low? I really like the relationship that is building between Ha-Won and Seo-Woo-- like both of these actors. The other people in the story really haven't made an impression on me that much. Will keep watching.....and see how it all ends

Eps 11 & 12 (END)
It's the night of In Wook's recital. Ha Won confronts In Wook about what happened with his mom. In Wook explains that he lied about Ha Won being on his way. Ha Won's mom kept going. In Wook went after her and tried to stop her to no avail. She died in the snowstorm. Chang Sup moves out of the homestay. In Wook finds out about the device. He wants to speak with Ji Soo. Ha Won finds a letter from Ji Soo in which she forgives In Wook for what happened and wants to be a source of strength for him. Ha Won gives the letter to In Wook. Ji Soo asks Seo Woo to let her hear In Wook's voice and play the piano. She also wants Seo Woo to get rid of the device. Seo Woo struggles with this, her relationship with ha Won and asks Ha Won for them to take a break. Ha Won tells Seo Woo that he'll be waiting for her and to call him when she's ready. Ha Won's company decides to use Seo Woo's voice for the device. The reaction point for the device is "Before Dawn". Instead of getting rid of the device, Seo Woo leaves it somewhere she thinks no one will find it. Ha Won goes to Norway and visits his old home. Seo Woo goes to the house and calls Ha Won. She misses Ha Won and wants to see him. Ha Won returns to Korea the next day. Seo Woo waits for him at the house and they meet up there. The end.
-------------------------------------------
A Piece of Your Mind had some nice moments. I especially liked some of the scenes between Ha Won and Seo Woo. I think ratings in Korea were low due to slow pacing, lack of conflict and how much of a role Ji Soo played in the story. Even up until the end, Ji Soo was a major part of the plot. I think that hampered progress between Ha Won and Seo Woo. The stuff with In Wook and Ha Won's mom still isn't all that clear to me. I can understand Ji Soo forgiving him but Soon Ho's actions were hard to understand. Seo Woo was more upset than she was. The positives outweigh the bad but A Piece of Your Mind isn't a series I would say is a must watch.
I've watched the last 3 dramas Jung Hae In has done. He's become one of my favorite actors. I look forward to whatever his next drama will be.

Too bad you didn't think more of it or I might have checked it out. The premise is actually very interesting, just the idea of pushing the limits of AI and how it might play a role in dealing with grief.

The premise is actually very interesting, just the idea of pushing the limits of AI and how it might play a role in dealing with grief. I wonder if you would like MBC's I'm Not A Robot starring Yoo Seung Ho (Memorist) and Chae Soo Bin (main actress from A Piece of Your Mind). It's about a girl pretending to be a robot. She takes the place of a robot meant for a guy with a human allergy. It's a romantic comedy so it has some silliness but the robot is supposed to be a companion, friend, etc. So, similar idea.
