Sorry this one’s late; my mom hurt her back and I had to help her with some things. She’s getting better.
Geez what a snoozer this one was! By the end of it I wondered if we’d get flashbacks of the paint drying on the new palace. Mainly just a lot of talk about things we already knew or things that were obvious. There was a lot of emphasis on Goongyae’s desire to expand the navy, and that will be important going forward. But the episode was just a whole lot of not very much. At least it looked good. The Palguan ceremony and the new Bekjae capital designation were nicely staged. The series always puts a good effort into those kinds of things.
Good grief, pour the darned drink and be done with it already! And it goes on and on, and then we have to watch him drink it. What, no super-slo-mo instant replay?
The first narrated text:
“So what was my father’s response?” Very funny moment—all they could do was squirm. What could they say?
So many palace attendants in these shows and they spend so many hours standing up and stooped forward...You know who the richest people probably were back then? Chiropractors!
“The desire to see him torments me night and day.” Only a few memorable moments in the episode and this scene was certainly one. What a lousy life Mihyang is leading. You wonder what the empress will be able to find out about that baby.
Eunbu to WG: “Men of excellence always have stealth enemies...This is my first and last word of caution. Many are watching you with a different set of eyes. Use caution.” Oooooooohh that’s interesting. There was a subtle suggestion once before from Eunbu of respect for WG but this was right out there for all of us to see. Clearly this will become a big deal eventually.
Kyun-hwon entering the new capital, it needed more people in that scene but you can understand the limits, with the cost of extras and period clothes. But the ones who were there sure made a lot of noise! Good work staging that.

The first narrated text:
Palguan ceremony is a celebration and a religious mass for the blessing of the country. In the book of King Dukjong in the Chronicle of Koryo, it was stated that it was customary for high merchants of the Song Empire, Yuhjin, and Tamra to attend this ceremony with gifts of good faith. Records also indicate that Koryo’s first Palguan ceremony took place on the year following Goongyae’s relocation to Song-ak. So it is believed that this event was a long-held tradition for Song-ak in which seafarers prayed for God’s blessings, and pledged their loyaty to their master who protected them. Song-ak was the first and only place that held such rite on [an] international scale in all of Asia. It is evident that Song-ak was the controlling force of the sea at that time.“I’ve become a useless commodity. I won’t be alive for very long.” Isn’t she the life of the party? But you can see why she thinks that. Poor Mihyang.

The second narrated text:
It was the year 900 A.D. when King Kyun-hwon officially declared resurrection of Baekje, only eight years after he subjugated Mujinju and proclaimed himself king. Goongyae has called his state “Koryo” within the government, but had not made it public at that time. Hence within the unified Shilla, Kyun-hwon was the first to declare an independent state before Goongyae. Kyun-hwon’s Later Bekjae had officially raised its curtain. It wasn’t a bad episode, just very forgettable.
