Here's a spoiler thread for anybody who wants to use it. These threads usually don't get a lot of use so we'll just have one combined thread for spoilers and historical spoilers.
Yes this series did air quite a while ago, but please do use this thread for any spoiler or historical spoiler you want to share or discuss because some of us will be watching the series for the first time. Really it's much better if you can wait until the relevant episode airs, but if you're just itching to post something spoiler-related then this is the place for it.
Background information that sets up the series or episodes in the series, that's not spoiler material and can be posted freely in episode threads or in dedicated threads.
Thanks!

Well it's all in your perspective, I guess...right now my favorite thing on TV is Match Game reruns from the 70s. So this is cutting-edge stuff by comparison.

There are so many unfortunate women in this show. It really does present a man's world where women had no intrinsic worth.

It was rebroadcast in 2010.
You are correct Mugwump, women actually fared much better in AOW, with several movers and shakers, but not this one. Unfortunate is putting it mildly .

Mamma, don't let your daughter grow up to be an empress...

I wonder how much of it has to do with the writer's own sexism

I wonder how much of it has to do with the writer's own sexism You think so too right? After watching TJWG, AOW and God of War I realized it isn't just a one-off.

Its a shame Dawn Of The Empire is not around, its the missing link between this and AOW. Some of the characters from Wang Guhn carry over into Dawn (different actors in the roles ) .
Wangs sworn bros Park Sulhee Shin and Yu all make it to Dawn Of The Empire.

Some years ago, a few of the early episodes were on Youtube before KBS had them removed.
In a scene where Wang Guhn is on his deathbed, flashbacks are used with footage from the Wang Geon series.

It's only available on KBS' YouTube Subscription service now, which is geolocked to Korea. A friend of mine used to have an account until they geolocked it in February.

I keep going back to the Wikipedia Wang family tree, trying to match up the kings and queens with what is shown in EWG, Dawn of the Empire, and Iron Empress. Very hard to keep them all straight. Once upon a time, someone on this board made a family tree that showed pictures of the actors who played them in the various shows. It was very helpful, but I don't know what became of it. The dying king in DOE (the episode just streamed) is son of Doyoung, and the two brothers are the sons of Suin, if I'm reading things correctly. So she's going to get the last laugh.
