A little too cool, if you ask me.

A little too cool, if you ask me. The writer of EWG copied this story and incorporated them into his dramas twice. First on EWG and second on SBS Yeon Gaesomoon. Surprising that he didn't use this on God of War.

^I wonder if its because both involve three kingdoms (and in EWG's case, the decline of a dynasty leads to the division of a country-the right hand man of one of said kingdoms ultimately wins in the end-not exactly like how the Sima clan won but I think you get the idea)?

It's the Tang Emperor Taizong who eats his own eyeball in SBS Yeon Gaesomoon though, not someone from the Korean 3 kingdoms.

^I never saw Yeon Gaesomun entirely. Only watched bit of the Salsu battle and the Ansi siege.
I was speaking in general concept since the two settings that ROTK's elements were implemented on have to do with three kingdoms.

MTR the list of dramas in that DF article was limited to dramas available in their library, or soon to be available.

Surprising that he didn't use this on God of War. Thank heavens for that - I don't think I could watch something like that without having nightmares.

Eww, why would anyone do that? Did he lose a bet or something?? He was shot in the eye with an arrow by an enemy. Instead of screaming out of agony, he pulled the arrow out of his eye along with his eyeball right after he was shot like it was no big deal, ate it, and acted like a tough guy. Basically, he did it to look cool. In EWG, the character ate the eyeball "to honor his parents" because they gave him the eye at birth. Now I'm also remembering how Li Haigu lost his eye...

Yeah, that line was exactly copied from Xiahou Dun in Romance of Three Kingdoms as well. I was being little sarcastic on my original comment and didn't want to get into detail, but the author of RTK obviously had Xiahou say the line and eat the eyeball to make him look cool. At least Li Kaigu didn't eat his eyeball in DJY, thank God. The problem is that he never lost his eye in history.

An explorer walks into a tribal village.
Tribe chief: "Please stay for dinner." Exploror: "Well okay, but I eat only vegetables. I'm a vegetarian." Tribe chief: "In that case, I'm a humanitarian."
