According to an otherwise-forgettable puff piece on the DramaFever website, they'll be getting Emperor Wang Guhn soon. It's not listed on their main page as a coming-soon drama, so it's not imminent...and the piece also lists EOS, which DF yanked without warning a few months ago. So this is not a for-sure thing yet; I'm still a little skeptical. But the piece also says they'll be getting MBC's Huh Joon (the original 1999-2000 version, not the remake) and I don't know why DF would mention these two shows just out of the blue with no good reason.
So...needless to say, if and when they carry it, we'll do it here. Figured I'd go ahead and create a coming-soon board to give everybody who might be interested plenty of advance notice. Needless to say, at 200 episodes it's a long commitment. But it's a very significant series so it's a no-brainer that we do it.
I'll try to get some more information about when it may become available. For now we'll stick with one GOW episode per week.

Nosir not a CSJ fan but the subject matter of the series will be worth it. (I don't hate the guy, I just haven't been impressed yet.) And it's old enough that I assume it won't be loaded with fusion silliness or gravity-defying physics. Have either of you guys seen the series? Apologies, I should have posted the article link. www.dramafever.com/news/10-most-popular-historical-k-dramas-to-date/

I was also very very young. If you mean love story by fusion silliness, it does have one. Some armors also look like plastic toy costumes. It also took so many materials from Chinese novel Romance of Three Kingdoms and incorporated them into the characters and story. The director of this drama does this again in his next historical Dae Joyoung.

This is an old time historical like AOW and DOE. They don't make them like they used to. It will be a lengthy commitment but there are many things that make this one a must see. The pluses outweigh the minuses, and it is fun to see how young everybody looks. It seems to have incorporated a lot of real history, judging by the amount of narration.

I'm amused that the poster for the most recent show for Hur Jun was used even though its describing the one in the late 90s.
This is not a well written article.

Nosir, when I said "otherwise-forgettable" I was being kind. It's amazing that there are people who buy into that kind of corporate spin stuff.
btw Has anybody here seen Huh Joon? Wondering if that one is any good.

btw Has anybody here seen Huh Joon? Wondering if that one is any good. It was good for that time's standards. I personally don't think too highly of it, because that's the series that got MBC to produce their inifnite series of RPG game style rags to riches style historicals.

OK thanks truth, I won't put that one high on the list for now.
No issues here with a love story, as long as it's a good one and doesn't get the series off track from telling the historical story. Gongmin/Nokuk in Shin Don, that was a joy to watch. I sort of misuse the term "fusion"--tend to think of it as anything that warps a series away from an honest retelling of history and veers off into gimmicks or pandering for ratings. But it's a more specific term and I should be more careful with it.

It being the trigger of the continous repeat of the RPG rags to riches style "historicals" is what I don't like about the drama. Congratulations! You've completed your 2nd quest! You're now level 10, now onto the next quest! Uh uh, no thanks. I don't remember whether the love story tracks WG off from history since its such an old series. The incorporation of Romance of Three Kingdoms into story and characters does get the series off from telling the real history though. Director of Wang Guhn directed Dae Joyoung next. Writer of WG wrote MBC God of War.

I am shocked DF did not include Age Of Warriors on that list. (ok its Nielsen ratings )I like EWG, though the drama seems to lose its way in the later episodes , it does have the all time silliest ambush in the history of television . The whole Goongyae storyline is both brilliant and dark .
I hope they do add it, but its been "coming soon " along with many others since DF started (or at least it feels that way ). Age Of Warriors also taps into The Romance Of The Three Kingdoms story line, right down to the initial three main characters swearing a sacred oath.
For all its flaws, we can forgive them, because this was the "Golden Age" of historical dramas, and we all wish they still made dramas like this . As this list is allegedly comprised of Nielsen Ratings, i am surprised Seo Don Yeo, Ladies Of The Palace, IYSS, Tears Of The Dragon, King And Queen and West Palace did not make the list, as those were all big hits .

It's not just the blood brothers story on EWG and DJY though. Other stories copied from Romance of Three Kingdoms in EWG and DJY include : Xiahou Dun plucking his own eyeball out and eating it Liu Bei visiting Zhuge Liang 3 times to hire him as his tactician Zhuge Liang praying for Eastern wind Hardships suffered by Cao Cao after the loss in the Battle of Red Cliffs Guan Yu killing Cao Cao's guards on every gate on his way to return back to Liu Bei Zhang Fei getting upset at Guan Yu because he thinks Guan Yu betrayed Liu to join Cao Cao.

Xiahou Dun plucking his own eyeball out and eating it Eww, why would anyone do that? Did he lose a bet or something?? He was shot in the eye with an arrow by an enemy. Instead of screaming out of agony, he pulled the arrow out of his eye along with his eyeball right after he was shot like it was no big deal, ate it, and acted like a tough guy. Basically, he did it to look cool.
