So the kids are finally gone now. Yay! Okay Choi Soo Jong, time to impress us.
Actually this was an encouraging episode. A reasonably sophisticated storyline building up right now; some good characters and situations developing. And not totally predictable either. We didn't get the fight I expected we'd get, for one thing. Still very early, and still has an MBC vibe about it, but encouraging.
And good for the producers for the spoken Chinese! Well done.
On the other hand, which one will drive me bonkers first--the floodlights or the pop ballads? And while some of the fighting in this episode was very good, fun to watch...the two unarmed brothers beating up a squad of soldiers with swords, just stop that right now. Right now!
Is the idea supposed to be that Yeom Moon has been so taken with Lady Hung-hwa this whole time that he's had no interest in other women? For him to set that courtesan free, what a beautiful gesture that was...but it kind of puts a different light on it if it's only because he's been pining for Hung-hwa. And then, when he finally saw her he didn't seem particularly motivated to do anything about it...so it all just seemed a little unclear. But either way, he's already become an interesting character; looking forward to more of him.
And the blacksmith, too--hope he sticks around, he's another interesting one.
Geez that's a lot of pressure on those little girls, their good behavior supports their families? Made me sad to hear that.
Now the sister tries to stop Madam Jami from helping her brother? She really must not have much faith in him.
