I did a sneak peek and watched a little of the beginning... the main character, something about his face just reminds me of Johnny Depp. Does anyone else see this?...

Deifinitely see that! It's not even the facial hair, it is the eyes! The way he looks in the pciture above-- I just love the eyes-- one of the reasons I like Taeyang of BigBang-- he is known for his "eye smiles" His eyes are the best! Ok, sorry got a little off track there.....promise to be better in future posts....yeah...better not promise that!

Oh no bird, you didn't get off track at all. The guy has been in so many historicals, I think they call him the "father of historicals" or some such thing. One of the reasons I wanted to watch EOS is that I've seen him once before, in the 134-episode Dae Jo Young series...and I just did not see what the big deal was. Did not impress me at all. So he gets another chance here. Maybe he's a big hit because he's a dreamboat? Or some such girl thing that I have no sense of? Don't want to get into trouble so I'll stop.
But jewel now that you mention it that's a very good point, the resemblance is strong.
p.s. Thanks for posting the pictures truth.

They probably made him look like that on purpose. Pirates of Caribbean was very popular around the time this drama aired and they probably wanted to give him a Jack Sparrow vibe. The drama has kind of a Korean version of Pirates of Caribbean vibe because a lot of the story revolve around sea as well as pirates. None of the main characters are pirates, of course. They fight pirates. Even one of the soundtrack kind of resemble Pirates of Caribbean soundtrack in my opinion.

I'm a huge Pirates of the Caribbean fan so this is all good for me. And their music was so great I don't blame others copying them (if they did.)
No but about the resemblance, for me it goes beyond what a make-up artist can do. His dark eyes, the flair of his nostrils, the hollowness in his cheeks all really work together to give me the Johnny Depp look totally. I really wasn't thinking anything at all of Pirates of the Caribbean - his face just made me say to myself, "He reminds me of someone..." and then it came to me.
In any case, I love Johnny Depp so all good!!

Geez they're even in the same key. Shame on them! And you know what, I've heard things in other historicals that sound even more similar to it. It's fairly generic music, but still...ugh.
