The Ming banquet, what a great scene! Loved it. And you can believe something like that could have happened, too...JYS getting spotted looking at the astrolabe and being called forward. Clearly they knew who JYS was ahead of time so maybe that was part of the plan, to make sure he got a good look at the thing individually.
And how about that Ming princess? Yowwee call the doctor! And she shot down the stuffed shirts at the banquet too, that was great. She gives off kind of a schemer vibe but we shall see, maybe she's just good at outsmarting people.
Sure did not expect Gilsu to show up in Ming. Have to think there'll be more to come out of that.
Why would JYS take that north-pole finder to Ming and only give it to Jang Huije there? Seems like kind of an unwise move, considering the sensitivity about the astronomy issue.
Looks like there's a pretty significant error in the subtitling for this episode. When Ha Yeon tells Huije "As far as I'm concerned, you can beat Jang Youngsil in astronomy and science," I think it should be "can't." That would make a lot more sense, and Ha is shaking his head no as he says it. And it plays off Huije's childish insecurity, to whatever extent it may still be there.
Hey it's the Wang Manchun / Yun Dusu guy! Playing a Ming royal family member, how about that. Fun to see him show up, he's very good.
"They cut off my penis." Sucks to be you, dude.
They cut off more than that, didn't they?
Kim Hakju? Wow the surprises just keep coming, don't they. But oh no, are we going to go back to JYS getting bullied and pushed around by those two again? Please no.
Now wait just a darned minute. It's nighttime at the national observatory and nobody's there? Seriously? And how did Kim Hakju get to be in there too? Ugh. Gotta say, it's disappointing that they went the same route as GKS with the secret-spy-mission stuff. Come up with something else this time.
"Jang Youngsil is the Shin Don of Joseon." What a great reference. Ridiculous to suggest that JYS would end up running the country but the analogy about elevating the low classes is perfect. So glad I watched that series because it really sets the stage for everything that happened during and after the revolution.
