...and there it is, the coughing with the blood. Can’t have a historical without some coughing up blood, can we.
Once again, not a lot to say. Somebody made a Home Alone reference to this episode and yeah, that fits very well. Still waiting for the real story to get going. I wish it would move forward because there were some silly things in this one that really annoyed me. For one thing, they’re trying too hard to make JYS the sympathetic underdog. It just isn’t believable that somebody as well-known as Songhwi (at least, well-known in this version of the story) couldn’t get his own son and their groundbreaking invention in front of somebody important. All he had to do was walk into the astronomy bureau with that globe and everything turns out great.
Oh, and at the end of the episode, the globe wasn’t thrown “into the sea.” It was thrown into the river, right near the dock where it would be shallow enough to dive in and get it. Didn’t it occur to anybody to just go get it? Sheesh. That was stupid.
I do like how they’re showing the inventing/creating process. It’s well done. Also happy with the subtitling so far. KBS generally does an excellent job on its subtitles and this is no exception.
Too bad we’re losing Kim Myeong Soo in this episode; he did a nice job. As usual. And his character died with flawless skin, how lucky can you get!
That stuff about a secret political message in the stone star chart...way too DaVinci Code-ish. Very silly and complete baloney. But they do continue to get the science stuff correct, which I really appreciate. In this one they give some correct facts about the chart. By the way, the chart has a very good Wikipedia entry:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheonsang_Yeolcha_Bunyajido
And I also found a ten-minute video that presents a lot of interesting details about the chart’s history and what it shows:

Anybody with any interest in the astronomical aspects of this series, the video is worth your time.
Seokgu: “An idiot like me should just stop breathing.” Yeah I’ll go along with that.
For the second time in four episodes, a sudden intense downpour on a bright sunny day. Ugh. Just stop it already.
