The MBC Chicago people have announced a new drama called "Shine or Go Crazy" that begins tonight, March 24. A total of 24 episodes, each 60 minutes long; airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:25 p.m., with repeats airing Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 5:40 p.m. This is a fictional historical romance between a Goryeo prince and a Balhae princess. Apparently has been getting good ratings in Korea. Not the kind of story that most of the historical-watchers here in this forum would be all that interested in...but I notice that one of the supporting actors is our good friend Lee Deok Hwa. So I might check in on it if only to see him. Also, the female lead had a role in Great King Sejong for fifteen episodes or so. Here's the PDF announcement from MBC Chicago and a couple of informational links. Shine or Go Crazy.pdf (135.74 KB) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shine_or_Go_Crazyasianwiki.com/Shine_or_Go_Crazy

Will MBC ever produce something even remotely close to KBS traditional historicals? If you can't do a Jeong Dojeon or Jingbirok, at least do us a favor and give us another God of War type drama please. P.S I just read the description of the drama on the pdf file and what the heck? The drama itself is completely fictional for sure, but Wang So is NOT a fictional prince!! He was a completely real person who was the 4th Emperor of Koryo dynasty! In fact, the person on my profile pic played him in a REAL historical back in 2002! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwangjong_of_GoryeoWhat is up with these airheads at MBC America? (facepalm)

It's just a simple announcement prepared by the local office, not an official network release. Not everyone at every local station is going to know every prince. Be nice.

Yeah, weird title. BTW This drama is also available on DramaFever. You can watch there for free if you sit through some commercials, just like over-the-air viewing. So if you miss an episode on 24.5, a reliable backup is available.

Just checked the rating list and this is getting 12.30% while Jingbirok is struggling between the 9% - 10%.

Wow, those aren't great numbers are they. Thanks for the info. The early numbers for Jeong Dojeon weren't much higher but they grew a lot as the series went on. I wonder if that will happen with Jingbirok too.
Actually I'm glad to see that the numbers for Shine or Go Crazy aren't higher! I had heard from MBC that the ratings were strong but maybe I misunderstood. 12.3 isn't that great either. Maybe it will discourage them from making such silly dramas.

OMG just checked this week ratings and Jingbirok is improving, 12.50% this week, I hope it increases, just saw episode 13 and it's so good, this deserves more.
But Hwajung debuted with 11.15% so It will go up easily, there are a lot of people talking about this drama.
