It looks really good , i can even forgive KBS cocking up the samurai dress again . This looks more meditative like JDJ, so i am hoping they keep to that style .
Looks like Yee Soon Shin getting shot in the opening .

Hi I'm so excited to see this. I'm so tired of love stories, time traveling and poor quality sageuks. I cannot wait for this.

Welcome animerika, thanks for joining us. Yeah a bunch of people here share your opinion. We were all very happy with Jeong Dojeon last year and are hoping BOC turns out to be another great one.

Welcome, Animerika. Love your avatar! Thank you, I've been reading this forum for a long time, I'm a hardcore sageuk fan but I didn't sign up because I'm not fluent, I can read English but I'm not very good at writting. it's hard to express what I'm thinking, so please excuse any mistakes.

The actor playing Hideoshi is the backstabbing friend of Admiral Yi from the 2004 series, right?
Does this guy ever not play a sleazeball?

Yes, that's him. ...maybe they're treating this series as a complement to IYSS and focusing on just the parts of the war that we didn't see in IYSS... The director just announced today that they want to tell a story that wasn't told in IYSS. BTW, Japanese TV station NHK is sponsoring KBS with the Japanese costumes and film set for this drama. Osaka Castle in Osaka, Japan is also sponsoring this drama. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osaka_Castle

Just watched the 1st episode and I have to say I'm very impressed. For those of you that were worried that this was going to be poor man's IYSS, don't worry, it's not.
It was nice to see the actor who played Yang Manchun back as Yun Dusu.
Kim Gyu Cheol's Hideyoshi is better than IYYS's Hideyoshi
Kato is Kato just the way he was in IYSS.
For those of you who were JD fans.....
Konishi makes me wonder why Ha Ryun is wearing a Japanese costume lol. It felt like he was going to say his famous line "It's me, Ha Ryun" at any moment.
Lee Jiran is back as a bad guy. Lee Saek is also back as a bad guy. (Same political party as Yun Dusu)
Jeong Dojeon's old male servant is back as King Seonjo's eunuch. lol
It looks like it's going to be another good one like Jeong Dojeon.
BTW, the producer of Jeong Dojeon is also the producer for this drama.

Osaka Castle in Osaka, Japan is also sponsoring this drama. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osaka_CastleThat comment from the director is great to hear. Of course this will probably mean we'll see a lot of horribly ugly backstabbing politics in the government...but that's part of the entire story too. Very encouraging that they don't intend to piggyback on IYSS's popularity. Japanese sponsorship for this, wow that is shocking considering the story doesn't exactly make the Japanese look good, does it. Big credit to NHK and Osaka Castle for doing it! Plus the producers must have done a good job of assuring them that the series won't make the Japanese look like comic-book villains. Another good sign.

Money talks, my friend. Profits come before reputation.
It's a shame that, just like JD, this will likely only have one episode subbed, so that I miss out on yet another series.

Thanks for the heads-up on episode 1, truth...I'll start keeping watch now for it to show up here in the US. Maybe I'll make a phone call or two (although that never seems to work, nobody ever knows anything). I did remove the line about how the series starts, please forgive me for that, just don't want to start with any more knowledge than the Korean audience had. Glad to hear you enjoyed the episode so much, very encouraging.
One of the fun things about JD was seeing all the familiar faces from past historicals. Sounds like this one will be more of the same.
