Episode9 Close call for Mr. Hanjo. Was wondering if he had the compass on him again. It seems Hye Won is falling deeper and deeper in love with Mr. Hanjo. Hey, sorta like me! Very exciting when Soo In finds the compass, tho she really shouldn't have entered his room like that and went though his drawer. (I hate people who don't respect other's privacy.) The ending very exciting. Something about the way they look at each other very touching. Episode 10 I hate torture scenes! I had to suffer through one in "Yi San" and then again here! Not fun. What is it they're doing exactly anyway? Like separating the leg joints or something? That was an awful scene. And Mr. Hanjo was again a hero... *sigh* So brave and righteous. Gosh, that Second Vice Primer is really evil. I understood that Soo In wanted to protect Mr. Hanjo when she wouldn't tell about the gunpowder. If it were just her I would say that she's very brave to do that. But it wasn't just her. Her father was involved too. He's life was at stake too. I don't know... I felt like she was choosing Mr. Hanjo's life over her father's and that didn't seem right. Anyway, everything worked out thanks to the King's intervention. Thank goodness. When Mr. Hanjo came to see Soo In and Hye Won excused herself so that the other two could be alone, it was a little sad. I felt bad for her. I also felt bad for Choi Won Shin when he had to kneel in front of Mr. Hanjo. I loved that look Mr. Hanjo has when he looked over his shoulder to see Hye Won looking on at her father kneeling. Love his expression. It's like pity, dilemma, curiosity all mixed in.

Episode 11 Not too smart of Yoon Kang to be walking out of his house with Yeon Ha for all to see, is it? With his arm around her shoulders no less. And what's with all these needless flashbacks all of a sudden? I wish K-drama would do away with 'em. They drive me nuts! I mean flashbacks from other episodes, sure, I understand. But from like two seconds ago? Really? Really? He can't see her?? Cracks me up. Episode 12 Oye, I thought they were gonna kiss in the beginning when he grabbed her wrist. I feel sorry for Choi Won Shin with everyone keeps calling him "Hunting Dog." Was very happy at the end cuz Yoon Kang and Soo In are finally "reunited"! Beautiful hand. Love men with veiny hands. Episode 13 Wow - this episode was so exciting. I love trial scenes. Thought Yoon Kang was a little naive to trust that Choi Won Shin was gonna confess all his wrong-doings to the police and sure enough that villain backtracked so fast my head was spinning. Poor Yoon Kang! And I felt somewhat sorry for Hye Won too. She had no choice but to lie at the trial or it would've meant death for her father. But you wonder though if she did it purely to save her father or if there was a little spite involved. When she told Soo In afterwards that now neither of them can have Mr. Hanjo, I was like oh you girl, that was revenge!! Loved this episode. And they finally kissed - yay! And how cool is he when he spins that rifle?!?!

a little behind.... EP 9- I don't know about this whole gun fighting.... makes these dramas seem more like westerns than dramas! I guess it seems weird to see guns in this time period. New dislike for dramas-- when people "find each other" -- like Hanjo and Yeon Ha and they hug each other out in the open, I know the scene was dragged out for emphasis, but really right out in the open?? People are in danger and they just stand around out in the open! Ep 10 I agree, I hate torture scenes, I was watching this episode at lunch and it was so hard to eat and watch! It seemed so unfair to torture them with out really given them a chance to tell their story! I felt sorry for Soo In, but when Hanjo showed up I kinda felt like she should have trusted him more and changed her story to match his more. She seemed more stubborn to me that thinking of the big picture that would help her, her father and Hanjo. I have noticed HyeWon has had some really pretty hair pins in her hair lately-- wish I would find something so pretty to where in my hair -- but probably would think the price was too high!

No one's behind or ahead cuz we don't have a set schedule. I'm just going at my own speed cuz I don't wanna lose my momentum. Sometimes I lose interest altogether if I go slower than I want to. I hope that's okay with you.
I also find it very unfair. And odd too, when the official says "start interrogating" and the soldiers say "yes sir" and then proceed to torture the prisoner. Hmmm... how is that interrogating?...
Me too! They are very yummy. I like ones in Soo In's hair too, tho they are a little more demure.
Episode 14
I was laughing a little when Soo In came to see Yoon Kang in prison the day before his execution (only cuz I knew he wasn't gonna be - I mean we still have several more episodes to go). Cuz she seemed a little too eager to "send him off." She went on about both her and Yeon Ha wearing their prettiest dresses and how she was gonna smile when they came to say their last goodbyes. I was like wow, came to accept his death pretty quickly, girl!
When Yoon Kang escapes and Choi Won Shin comes barging into his house to search for him, I thought that was way out of line. I mean, he's a merchant, not the police. What gives him the right to search any house? Very odd.
At the end of the scene Yoon Kang does shoot Choi in the chest, right? Just that when he's falling backwards into the water I didn't see a wound in his chest. I just don't want him to come back alive is all. I want him DEAD! (tho at times I do have sympathy for him)
Am really enjoying this drama. Little things make me like it more and more. Subtle loving looks exchanged between Yoon Kang and Soo In and the loving relationship between Yoon Kang and Yeon Ha and even the father and daughter relationship between Choi Shin Won and Hye Won all make this drama very likable.
Another thing to add now is the portrayal of Yoon Kang after he shoots Choi and sees him fall to his death. One would think he'd be happy because he's now avenged the wrongs of his father, sister and himself. But it's obvious from his tortured expression and his anguished scream that he's not happy at all. I think he feels bad that he had to kill this enemy of his. That makes him so human in my eyes. I would think killing someone, no matter how much that person deserves to die, must still be very hard. Especially when they're begging for their life.

I don't know why I thought I finished episode 15 but turns out I left off watching the last five minutes or so. Go figure.
I knew Choi Won Shin dying was too good to be true. I tell you, there's something very ironic about this drama. This show is called "The Joseon Gunman," but so far Yoon Kang gets shot by a gun and he doesn't die, the vicious slave owner whom Yoon Kang shoots right through the heart is fine and dandy and plotting to overthrow the king like the next day, and now Choi Won Shin whom Yoon Kang shoots like three times comes back to life without so much as a scratch. I think they should all just switch back to swords and be done with it. Geez...
Episode 16
This drama started going down for me at the end of episode 15. It was a bad ending. Bad as in bad script-writing. Then it was like an avalanche in episode 16. When Hye Won comes to kill Yoon Kang and he takes the rifle away from her lackey and then shoots away Hye Won's handgun, that was okay. Even up to that point I was going along with it, although since Hye Won just swore in the previous episode that she was gonna kill Yoon Kang with her own hands it was strange that she was gonna leave it to her lackey to do her work, but whatever. And then Yoon Kang takes control of the situation and takes the guns away from them. Then he leaves both weapons behind when he takes Soo In and leaves. What stops Hye Won and the lackey from just grabbing up the guns again and shooting him? Let me guess - cuz he probably wouldn't die anyway. Ohmgosh, unbelievable.
And what's all this with Yoon Kang posing as Mr. Yamamoto? Are you kidding me? And let me just say: No, Yoon Kang, no moustache please. And no Charlie Chaplin hat either. Please. I beg you.

I made it thru ep 12 last night, started ep 13 because I just had to see what happens (I already knew because I read your post)-- when Soo In started crying it was so realistic-- so sad, but happy they have finally gotten together. I think I have been having a hard time watching this because is seems to be draggin on so much-- we know the "good" guys, we know the "bad" guys, we know there is more than one gunman, so lets get on with the story! Here's hoping that now that Soo In and Yoon Kang are reunited things will get more exciting.....Was it me or is Hye Won looking at Mr. Hanjo in a more romantic way? If so, not happy with that at all! (I checked out the sites for the hair pins, they are really nice, I may have investigate this more! )

(I checked out the sites for the hair pins, they are really nice, I may have investigate this more! ) I actually ended up buying the second one, Birdy. So maybe you wanna wait till I get mine first. That way if it's crap, I'll warn ya. But then I think it's gonna take like 6 months to get here. It's coming all the way from China and it's free shipping so they're prob sending it via camel or donkey. I don't understand for the life of me how they make any profit - the hair comb cost like $2 and it was free shipping. What?!?! I felt bad for them so I tried to find some more things to buy to make it worth their while but didn't find anything I wanted. Oh well. As pretty as it is in the picture I don't have much of an expectation. I have so many hair pins and clips anyway. It's the Asian in me.

How are you doing, Birdy? I'm almost done with epi 17. I was all tuckered out with K-drama after "Yi San" but am recovering now.

Sorry, I was a little distracted lately, work (crazy), taxes (mine and my daughter's), FASA (my daughter's), band concert and scout activities (my son's) AND I have been watching a drama from Netflix called "Stairway to Heaven"-- pretty good, kinda typical poor girl/rich guy, crazy relatives.... but when a disc comes with 4 episodes on it, it takes awhile to get thru all of them! I will be jumping back into this and hopefully now that Soo In and Yoon Kang are together, maybe things will pick up.....

So I spent a couple of hours "wrestling" with some paperwork and decided I needed a break ..... watched ep 14. I thought it was a bit ironic, when they brought Yoon Kang and Choi Won Shin in for their crimes, the King was there and there was NO torturing (thankfully, I really don't like it)but it seemed strange-- because before there was torture and no king, and this time, no torture and a King-- WHO really is running the show in this town?!?!??!? And then the King gets to do the "dirty work" of actually sentencing Yoon Kang to the beheading. At one point, Hye Won tells Soo In "Now neither one of us can have him"--- so vengeful, yet seems like a typical female trait to me! Were you suprised by the King rescuing Yoon Kang? I was! I figured he was going to escape somehow, but not this way. I actually thought Yoon Kang was a fool not to take the King up on his offer (yeah, partly because I like this King LOL) but killing Choi would be the revenge Yoon Kang was looking for, but not stop the corruption that I think his father really did not like. I wondered at the end, when Yoon Kang screamed-- maybe he realized that 1) he stooped to the "bad" guys level of killing people 2) that it wasn't really gonna change anyting. 3) Now what was he gonna do with the rest of his life? Live on the run?? A lot of times in this drama, I didnt like Yoon Kang because he was so into getting revenge, by killing-- I think changing the way things got done would be more practical, but then you are talking about goverment-- and there always seems to be corruption somewhere. I think the writers should have chosen a differnt title-- like you said this is not Joseon Gun man -- there are gunmen popping up all over the place. I was thinking originally this was going be a time-travel type piece-- didn't imagine they had access to guns in this time period-- but someone from the present being sent back in time and using a gun to change history. The titile just doesn't fit with the story line-- it is certainly is more than just Yoon Kang's story! Hopefully will get to ep 15 soon......

Actually what I thought was funny about the title was the "gun" part, not the "man" part. Because people get shot but no one seems to dies. The sword seems more effective.
I think you've said this before. What time period do you think this is though? I thought it was around 19th century. I mean they have cameras, telescopes, and world globes. Why do you find it so hard to believe there are guns at this time?
Episode 17
This episode was better. I like the flashback to Japan showing why and how Yoon Kang became Hanjo. And thank heavens YK isn't impersonating Mr. Yamamoto any longer. Yikes!!

Drama marathon yesterday! I have watched up to ep 17.... Some comments: Loved the comment about YK impersonating Mr. Yamaoto-- he looked like a girl trying to dress like a guy or even Charlie Chaplin! Yk being Hanjo was enough, this was taking it too far-- The guy Kim Jwa Young drives me crazy-- whenever he talks he reminds me of Yoda-- his speech sounds like riddles, but he is so evil!! As far as my previous comment about guns-- I actually googled when guns were invented and when the Joseon Dynasty was in power and the years match, but it just seems weird to watch when you are used to watching historical dramas and seeing sword fights and now you see guns---- lots of them! When YK rescued JeMi I thought that YK was finally turning around and realizing that killing people is not the answer, like someone said "kill me and someone else will take my place", at one point YK said "I won't resolve it with a gun" so maybe he is changing his tune. At one point, the rebels looking at Soo In (I forgot the scene) and said "shate, Let's go"-- I just laughed out loud! Yeah I don't think that word existed then! Near the end of ep 17, when the king (I really am liking this actor!) and queen were in the room and I think the King was releasing the "bad guys", the queen had a look in her eyes that has me worried, like she may not be on the same side of the King--- but it was only a "look" so I may be waaaaay off base.

The guy Kim Jwa Young drives me crazy-- whenever he talks he reminds me of Yoda-- No! but Yoda is a cutie-patootie. This guy reminds me of a hyena. p.s. love your new avatar, by the way.
