Episodes 14, 15, 16: I was thinking of giving up on this drama but the ending of episode 13 was pretty good so I said all right let me try the next episode..... Ohmgosh, again the translation is killing me. There's this one scene where Yi San is telling Song Yeon that she could be a female artist and the translator has her respond, "That's absurd." Can you imagine saying to the crown prince that something he said is absurd?? I think she said something more like "That's impossible." Then the translator has the crowned princess saying to her maid, "Cut it out." And people are running around saying "Long time no see" and "No way"!! Cracks me up!! Anyway, I'm gonna stick it out a little longer. I have no other Lee Seo Jin drama to watch. I tried "Phoenix" and had to bail cuz I could NOT stand the lead girl. I found her so repulsive. I don't mean just her behavior cuz I'm sure she gets nicer later. But just something about her face that repels me.... Oh, dear. I had several problems with Phoenix, but what Lee Eun-ju looked like wasn't one of them. LOL.
I'm glad you're getting into Yi San, because mostly, it's great. And you can't blame the dramatists for the translation! LOL! I have to agree, I'm the biggest complainer with translations now for the dramas, they just sound like college kids who think all English-speakers are casual (Variations of "When you gonna ..." coming out of the mouths of kings is among my favorites), when really, we have levels of formality in speech, just as Koreans do. I suppose there is just so much drama to translate, they are in a hurry and it shows.

You know sometimes when I read over some of my posts, I really can't believe what I read. I can't get over how mean I can be at times. Who am I to say who's face repels me?? I'm sure if she saw my face she'd be repelled too!!

Episodes 20, 21, 22, 23: Am really having lots of fun watching this drama. Hope this feeling lasts till the end... That Hong guy is my favorite after Crown Prince and was so sad when he got blamed for the killing and beating of the citizens. I was so hopping mad when that crazy dog Kim Gui Joo beat him up. He really shouldn't have gotten away with it, that was just so unjust. Finally TWO contenders for the throne!! Song Yeon is starting to grate on my nerves a little. She's just so... I don't know... her smile is so sickeningly sweet... And really, I didn't think her painting was all that great... Yes Bo, Hanyang is what is now Seoul. (Since no one answered you in your thread.)

Episode 24:
Really? Song Yeon doesn't know yet that Cho Bi has a crush on Dae Su?? How stupid can she be?? You'd have to be dumb, deaf and blind to not know, Cho Bi makes it so glaringly obvious!! When Song Yeon looks up with that "dumb-as-a-doorknob" look and says "What?" I just wanna box her ear.
Am I being mean again?...

You like the quote, Bo? I'm not positive but I think the late great Joan Rivers said it.

LOL, I believe you are correct in your attribution--but she might have gotten it from Phyllis Diller.

Episodes 25, 26, 27:
I'm very surprised to hear myself say this but one of the reasons I'm really enjoying "Yi San" is that there isn't much romance. I guess I sorta know there's going to be something between Crown Prince and Song Yeon in the coming episodes but I can wait.
I really like Dae Su. The only time I don't like him is when he's interacting with Song Yeon. Then he's sorta goofy and mushy and makes me cringe. Loved it when he speaks up and gives credit to Inspector Hong over the firework conspiracy. He's a good guy.
When Dae Su is locked up and Crown Prince says to him that even if he has to break down the jail he would rescue him, I teared up. I love their friendship.
I really like Crown Princess as well. She's just a sweet person and so pretty! But my favorite after Crown Prince is definitely Inspector Hong. I get a rush of affection for him whenever he appears on the screen. I really like him.
p.s. I think Cho Bi is a cutie too, Bo.
p.p.s. Ooh, it was SO satisfying when they un-blindfolded Kim Gui Joo and first thing he sees is Inspector Hong looking back at him. But then when he got smacked and his nose was bleeding, I felt a little sorry for him (even though he deserved it).

"If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit next to me." I believe this is attributed to Alice Roosevelt (daughter of Teddy, owner of the Alice-blue gown) who had this embroidered on a pillow on a sofa in her parlor. :-)

What do you mean there isn't much romance? There IS romance with Song-yeon and San. You can practically see it spelled out when the two are with each other

What I see spelled out to me when the two are together is not romance but love. To me there's a world of difference. They can love each other with all their hearts and not do anything and it's still love. I think romance is not romance until some action is taken. Someone has to be courting, wooing or seducing to win the object of their affection for it to be a romance. I don't know if I'm explaining myself clearly. Women don't complain their husbands don't love them, they complain that their husbands are not romantic. (I don't know, maybe men think differently.) I just finished episode 27. So far Crown Prince held Song Yeon's hands a couple of times and teased her here and there when they met. And they haven't met too often, him being busy and all dodging assassins and explosives. On the rare occasions they meet, they act more like good friends. The best indicator for me is that they haven't yet behaved in any way that Crown Princess could possibly object to. You could scold me all you want if I said there was no love between the two leads and I wouldn't say a word to defend myself cuz I know I'd be wrong. But as it is, I stand my ground when I say there is not much romance yet.
