I had my box of tissues all ready to go but (very unusual for me) i did not shed a SINGLE tear in the final episode. And especially not at this scene. You may hate me, Birdy, but I actually chuckled at Myeon saying he was going to see Jong first, cuz the words that popped into my head were "Jong went UP, you're going DOWN - you are NOT seeing Jong first, honey!!!"
Ohmgosh, I didn't even think about that!! That's so funny!!
I have no problem with Seung Yu NOT taking revenge on Su Yang but I have a BIG problem with the WAY he didn't. If he hesitated because he realized now that not only is he killing his wife's father but his child's grandfather too, I would definitely understand it. If he raised his sword and then had a moment of second thought and that's when the soldiers came and stopped him, then okay I could go with that. But he didn't hesitate at all. He meant to kill Su Yang and he still didn't manage to. And after all isn't he supposed to be a great swordsman?? Even I could've killed him at that point!! Com'on!!
I think this drama would've been close to perfect if the writers didn't occasionally go for the cheap thrills. They have these characters do things that just don't make sense just for the dramatic effects. I really hate that. But overall I have to say I really enjoyed this drama. Park Si Hoo was great in it as he is in everything I've watched of him so far. And I really liked Princess Gyeong Hye and Prince Consort Jeong Jong. Se Ryeong I have conflicting feelings for. I liked her very much in the beginning of the drama and towards the end. I don't know if I like the actress herself. And I really liked the guy named "Un", the personal bodyguard of Su Yang I guess he was.

The more I think of the last scene with Seung Yu and Su Yang in the temple the more I question it-- afterall more than anything Su Yang wanted Seung Yu dead, even to the point of blaming everyithing on Myeon when he could not kill Seung Yu and yet when the soilders came into the temple room they did not just kill Seung Yu on the spot? I agree with your assement on Park Si Hoo, he did a great job in this drama, I liked the Princess Gyeong Hye, too. I really liked Prince Consort Jong-- his character grew/changed so much, but his basic personality stayed the same. I liked Se Ryeong for the most part, I really liked the way she challenged her father-- that took guts. I liked that her and the Princess became even better friends (I will NOT miss the challenge of trying to remember how everyone's names were spelt---so similar it kinda drove me crazy! ) Are we going to watch Absolute Boyfriend next? I watched ep 1 already (loved the line "you are like a runway no one wants to land on") I finished "Saving Mrs Go Bong Shil" so I am all ready for something new....... (Another BIG thanks for thinking of the idea of us watching the last episode together! Just Perfect! )

It's like those James Bond movies where the bad guys are all just DYING to kill 007. But when they do catch him, instead of just putting a bullet in his head they put him in these fancy smancy high-tech torture machines and then LEAVES him. So then of course he escapes. Okay Birdy, will start a thread for "Absolute Boyfriend" over at "Other Shows." Don't know if Ajk wants to do a separate board for this one since its not a historical. Or K-drama for that matter.

Oh there's no issue here at all with historical vs. contemporary getting a separate board. But since "Boyfriend" is only 13 episodes and is non-Korean then yeah why don't you just leave it as a thread in "Other Shows." You'll be done with it quickly so it's not worth a board.

Okay, Ajk, I'm happy with whatever you decide. But just so that you know, "Absolute Boyfriend" is 20 episodes.

What? You mean I got wrong information on the Internet? What is the world coming to....
Thanks for the update. If it generates enough interest then sure we can give it its own board. But otherwise we'll save it for the next series. Maybe you guys could choose one and then we can announce it, so people have time to get ready and jump on board if they want to. If you want the extra company, that is.

Wow! Finished already?!?!
I agree with you on the last episode about Seungyu not killing the SuYang. Why Seungyu stopped wasn't too clear to me.
I was impressed with Seryoung's tenacity in helping Seungyu and in remaining in love with him. Pretty impressive how she never gave up. I loved the scenes where she challenged her father too.
Some of my favorite scenes were the Mapo Mooring era when Seungu realizes he still loves Seryoung. And also liked to watch the relationship develop between Princess Gyeong Hye and Jeong Jong.
Liked all the supporting actors too. The little kids, Seungyu's niece and the Buddhist acolytes, were adorable!
Overall, a great blend of a love story & history (albeit not exactly the true history).
