Oh goodness, I got so side-tracked answering posts I almost forgot why I'm here... Episode 11. I'm really starting to like Jeong Jong the Prince Consort. The birds in the garden that he set up for the princess was very sweet. The birds looked a little sad all caged up but hey it's the thought that counts. The Princess Gyeong Hye looked suitably moved. My gosh, what was all that ship scene about?? I thought I accidentally turned on "Ben-Hur" or something. And then the island?? Again, was it like "Lord of the Flies"?? Lord o' mercy!!! All I can say is hope that's not Park Si Hoo's real hair... ugh... I don't know about this drama... it's like there are too many characters I hate to make my viewing a pleasure. Park Si Hoo is the only saving grace right now. Hate Sin Myeon, hate Su Yang, hate all the noblemen who follow Su Yang, particularly Sin Myeon's father cuz he acts like he's a nice guy but he's not - he's a hypocrite. Now starting to hate Se Ryeong too... You see, this is what happens when I watch something too slowly. If I whipped through this like I do with some dramas I don't have time to think and stew over things...

The only way I've been able to figure it out Fi is to quote from one, then open up a separate screen and quote from the second one, and then cut and paste one into the other. Knov1 does multi-quoting a lot more than I do, maybe he can respond to this? If he's got a better trick, I'd like to know it too.
I'm trying to write a review (due Friday) at the same time as I'm working (at my JOB) so that's why I feel so scattered. When I get into those situations, I don't know whether I'm insulting people or not, I'm just trying to respond to them quickly, so I get paranoid because sometimes they "take it wrong." LOL...
So I'm gonna skip out until next week, except I will be posting the synopsis for Ep.17 of Go Bongshil, which I'm almost almost almost finished with. (Ep 17 post that is, I'm on Ep 23 or something of the show). So see you all soon.

If I have multiple messages to quote, I click quote and copy the first message. Then go back to quote the next message and paste the first message. Rinse and repeat.

I am interested in this. So is this strictly a period romance, or would it appeal to a someone who likes palace intrigue in their sagaeuks.

Watched episode 12 just now, Birdy. Nothing much to report for this one. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Se Ryeong didn't annoy me as much in this episode, although I hate Sin Myeon as ever. Seung Yu was wonderful as always but thank god he's off that island now. I didn't like the whole island scene. Onto the next episode...

There are people here more qualified to answer you than i but hey, that won't stop me - yes, i think this is what you call "strictly a period romance." But you might still enjoy it. There sure are lots of palace intrigues, for sure!

Birdy where are you?
Just finished episode 13. I don't know what it is about "The Princess' Man" but this drama's flashbacks annoy the heck out of me more than any others in the past. I usually don't like flashbacks to begin with but it's driving me insane in this drama for some reason.
I tell ya, this Sin Myeon is so hateful I can barely look at him. When he says he'll pay his sins by cherishing Seung Yu's girl for all his life, I almost threw up. Like, um, does that seem rather UNFAIR to anyone but yourself, you TRAITOR and MURDERER??!!?? How is that a punishment for you??? And that sickening smirk on his face when he's going to his wedding... augh!!
On the other hand, I'm starting to like the royal couple more and more. It was really touching when the princess asks her husband to take care of himself as he's going off to the wedding/revolt. And when they hug, aww, so sweet. I guess we can assume they have not consummated their marriage.
The ending was very exciting. Se Ryeong looked pretty in her wedding getup. Wait, did i say that?? (FYI Birdy: only because we both have interest in meanings behind Korean costumes - did you know that a woman's braids are always up once they're married? Note Se Ryeong's up-do for her wedding.)
What I wanna know is this: why do people think you can't scream just because someone puts a rope across your mouth? Your vocal cords still work, jeez...

Hey Fiona-- got lost in life there for awhile.... finished ep 13 yesterday. just a few comments: STILL don't like how Seung Yu spends time on a island, gets into trouble/has to fight, gets slashed by the sword, spend some time at giaseng's AND then just walks around town! Can not beleive nobody knows who he is-- maybe because he is hanging around a differnt class of people? In a way, (a small way) I feel a bit sorry for Myeon-- yes, he made a choice, yes he "killed" his friend, but really did he have much of a choice?!?! Seems back in the day, you didn't get to make many choices. I feel so sorry for the King, he is trying so hard but gets his hands tied so easily. How can someone so young be made to make such big desisions? I did like the way Se Ryeong talked back to her father-- he must really care for her, otherwise I think he would just slap her face-- why would any male listen to a female's ideas?? I liked the scene with the Princess and the Prince Consort and the bird cages, you could really see her trying hard to not feel touched by the gesture. Did you like the scene when Seung Yu was working out with the sword and then dumped the bucket of water on himself to cool himself off? Thanks for the tidbit about the womans's braids--always find things like this interesting. I like the female wedding attire.... Two quick "off topic"--- If Bo stops by this thread, I think I saw the actor from Mrs Go, 'Soo Ae' in Ep 12 (@ 37 mins mark) playing a similar charactor, voice sounds exactly the same-- really like this actor. Watched Ep 61 of 2Days,1Night last night-- Jo In Sung is in Ep 60,61,62 as a guest-- and I laughed so hard I my throat is sore today, I know nobody really watches this, but the way the other's treat In Sung because he so famous just might make you want to watch this one....

Hey Fiona-- got lost in life there for awhile.... Wow, you have a life outside of K drama world?? Tell me, how does it feel??... I've forgotten... Birdy, I can always count on you to point out the most relevant parts of an episode - I'll give you one guess whether I liked the scene or not... Would the word "drool" give you any idea? Speaking of your Jo In Sung: did you ever watch "Queen of Reversals"? VERY good drama. Anyway, go to episode 14 @37.2 minutes and you'll get a treat. I marked that spot just for you - totally thought of you during that elevator scene. Okay. Saw episode 14 tonight. It was exciting, I don't deny that. Park Si Hoo makes everything fun, it's a fact for me. BUT there were things that again really bothered me. It's like the writers of this drama just didn't think things through or something. And then the translation drives me nuts - how hard is it to understand "Jun Ha" means "Your Majesty" and not "Your Highness"?!?! (I know I'm repeating myself.) And "hyungnim" means "big brother." Just because someone calls you "little hyungnim" doesn't suddenly make you "little brother." You're still big brother, but just "little big brother." That one guy calls Seung Yu "jagun hyungmin" which means "little big brother" but the translation reads "little brother." It drives me CRAZY!!! (Can you tell???) Again, the ending was very exciting. Unfortunately, I've really come to dislike the lead actress. She just annoys me to no end. Something about her eyes and her facial expressions really irritate me. I just wanna smack her. Aren't I terrible??

Okay Birdy, tell me where in episode 61 of "2 Days 1 Night" is it so funny?? I watched a little of the beginning but could not wade through the whole episode. Just tell me the funny part.
24 episodes!! Didn't know "The Princess' Man" had 24 episodes!! Egad, and here I thought we were almost at the end!! Managed to watch episode 15 this morning. It was good, not much to complain about other than the usual poor translation.
i really LOVED the scene when Myeon is all mad that Jong came to the wedding as his best man under false pretense. And Jong says are you so outraged over a little thing like that? That compared to what Myeon did to Seung Yu it was nothing. My reaction was like, "Yeah Jong, you tell him!!" What a jerk Myeon was. What, he can betray his best friend and steal his best friend's girl but no one can betray HIM? Hey buddy, what goes around comes around!!
That Su Yang is such a hypocrite. Pretending to be all shocked and horrified when the king said he would abdicate. Like he wasn't salivating over the very idea all along!! I really hate him.
By the way, how do you kill yourself by biting your tongue???

Ok-- some parts of 2d1N ep 61-- at 9:18-- someone discovers that a bird pooped on InSung's hat-- and they clean it off of the hat for him (like InSUng is too famous to do it himself?) 30:00 -- Drink challenge- who will drink the cup with the fish oil in it?-- most people go a bit nuts and spit it out, not Jo InSung, he takes it in stride, 1:00-- taking of the group photo to the tune of CSI (Do they watch CSI in Korea?!?), 1:02-- The last game played- charades, it was fun watching InSung do the charades, He wasn't very excited during most of the day but when he thought his team was going to win the charades, his face just lit up! I know I am just crazy but I can really get into this show sometimes, it was surprising to see how much they focused on InSung on these few episodes (Yeah, 24 episodes, I was thinking the same and then the other day I saw 24 ep and thought "Oh, how am I ever going to get thru this and "Mrs. GO"? ) Maybe I need to do a drama marathon like someone else I know Hopefully will get to the next ep of this tonight.......

Thanks Birdy. So I did watch those parts you mentioned of episode 61. I really liked the charade, very funny. I was laughing out loud quite a bit. I especially loved the "Miss Korea" one with all those guys trying to walk all dainty and sexy.
Episode 16 - I'm on a roll here. I didn't like Seung Yu killing in cold blood. The scene when he's wiping the blood off the sword, with his cheek all splattered with blood... eew, didn't like that at all.
Why is Su Yang's wife so happy that her husband is king now?? Doesn't she know how he got the throne?? Very strange...
I really liked it when Se Ryeong let her father have it as he's leaving to goto the palace as the new king. When she says there's no princess other than Princess Gyeong Hye, I was like "You go, girl!" Haven't liked her this much since the first episode. And when Sin Myeon dragged her away by the wrist I almost threw my iPad across the room. How dare he?? Who does he think he is??
I was very sad for the young king. He always looks so sad. Is he going to be exiled now?? If not, can't he just live with his sister the princess?
Hey Birdy, I took a sneak peek at "Absolute Boyfriend" cause one of my fave actresses Gu Hye Sun is in it. It's a Taiwanese drama but it looks really good, and both lead actors are pretty cute. Any interest?? Nine episodes are out so far...

Finshed ep 15 last night (fell asleep 1/2 way thru 16-- I will never understand how I can fall asleep when I am reading the captions-- you would think that would keep me awake ) Finished ep 16 today.... I am begining to be like you Fiona, and nick-picking some of this -- like when Se Reyoung was kidnapped and she was standing by the door as they searched the grounds-- she could not make ANY noise? Even if she was gagged, she could have kicked the door, fallen against the wall, ect..... When SeReyoung went in front of Seung Yu and got the arrow in her back-- thought that was very meaningfull, all she really has wanted was for Seung Yu to kill her, since her family caused him so much pain... I thought once Seung Yu had heard that his SIL and neice were still alive, he would search for them. I guess maybe he was waiting for things to quiet down more. I would think his SIL would not want him to go and get revenge and to risk his life. The scene when the Prince Consort his being arrested and he goes and talks to the Princess, really nice to she her have feelings for him and to feel sorry for what is happening. I kinda find Su Yang's love for his daughter a bit over the top, I thought in history sons were the ones that were held in the highest level and Su Yang seems to think his daughter is everthing. It would be more beleivable if she was the only child, but he has a son and another daughter. Maybe because she is the youngest? Like you, in ep 15 all the "little brother" talk was getting to me-- don't see these guys as being that close..... Question: When they brought forth a witness for the kidnapping, was that one of the guys that was sent to the wedding to help attack Su Yang's people? Does that mean they had someone on the inside that really knew the whole plan? I feel so sorry for the King (and usually do in these historical dramas), the kings are so young, how in the world are they suppose to run a country? It seems so easy to just kill off some people and get in control. Do you think that Se Reyoung will completly turn on her father and help the King/Princess/Prince Consort get back in control? (thanks for checking out 2d1n, in some ways InSung seemed a bit embarassed by all the attention) I checked out the descriptipn of "Absolute Boyfriend) and she is one of my favorite actresses, too. Do you think you will start this soon? I have 3 more episodes of "Mrs Go" to watch and then I should have more time to watch. Don't know if I can handle 3 dramas at once

Well, I found lots of problems with this whole kidnapping thing. But in this scene I think Se Ryeong just didn't want to be found by Sin Myeon. I mean think about it - wouldn't you rather stay captured by Seung Yu than be rescued by Myeon?? I think she not so much as wanted to die as just wanted to block the arrow from hitting Seung Yu. She was basically saving the man she loves. That's how I saw it. I know she SAID she wanted him to kill her. But I think what she meant was, come back alive to love me again. Totally agree with you, Birdy. I loved this scene - I found it very moving. The princess at first saw him as a fool (like I did). Then slowly she begins to see through his brave acts and his loyalty to her and her brother that he may deserve a princess' respect and love after all. I love when relationships develop like this. Sometimes it's so much more interesting than when they fall in love instantly. Even though Koreans are thought to value sons much more than daughters, they still love their daughters too. And I really don't see him loving Se Ryeong any more than his other children - she just gives him the most trouble. Also, I'm pretty sure Se Ryeong is Su Yang's eldest child, not youngest. I have no problem with that tall, skinny, silly guy calling Seung Yu "brother," but he is actually calling him "big brother," not "little brother." That was my complaint. The translation is wrong. He calls that older leader guy "big hyungnim" and he calls Seung Yu " little hyungnim." Because "hyungnim" means "older brother" they are both older than him. So he is in fact calling that older leader "big older brother" and he calls Seung Yu "little older brother." Anyway, the tall guy has to call them both "brother" not because they are particularly close per se but because he can't call them by their names. In Korean culture, one cannot call someone older by their name - it's considered very rude. If I'm thinking of the same guy then yes, he was a spy for the Su Yang faction. This is a toughy. Koreans believe love for ones parent is like love for God. So for Se Ryeong to completely turn her back on her own father would make her into a very bad daughter indeed. So most likely she won't do that. I'm expecting her to do something half-assed. (It was fun! If you come across any of my faves, let me know!) I'll wait for you on "Absolute Boyfriend."
