You're right, Bo. Lots of characters in dramas have family name of "Kang" but it's really pronounced more like "Gaong". So "Wang" is not really wrong. I just couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was for the longest time. Well, now I know.

Well, I just can't figure out where to post this blog entry, and this seems as good a place as any because it has to do with the wonderful Korean psyche.
article about "manner legs"
So polite. So adorable. So Korean.
I haven't had a chance to read this one yet, but it's Rain, so it has to be good:
Why Hallyu?

Ooh, I loved the "Manner Legs" article! Thanks, Bo!
I sorta knew about this phenomena already. I was watching Joo Sang Wook interview when he appeared in "Happy Together"(?) with the "Good Doctor" cast. One of the actors (forget his name, but not Joo Won who is tall too) was 6-2 and I guess his counterpart actress was rather short. So when they faced each other, the director would shout out, "Legs!" and the tall actor would automatically spread out his legs to bring his face down closer to the actress' level. It was really funny the way the actor told the story. He stood up and demonstrated the stance too.
I gotta tell you another story: when I was a freshman in college there was a boy who followed me around pretty much that whole year. He was cute and very sweet, and he had a habit of asking me out every once in a while even though my answer was always the same - no. Here lay the reason to our tragic relationship before it even began: he stood 6-4 tall and I was (and still am) only 5-2. So you can imagine what we looked like together. Whenever we met up he would say, "Let's sit down." I think he was getting a creak in his neck from looking down, I know I was from looking up. Our friends referred to us as "The Long-Distant Relationship."
My husband is 6-1 and that's bad enough. When I fix his hair or put sunscreen on his face he'd bend his knees for me. Now I'll just shout, "Manner Legs!"

I am 5.0 tall, and Bob is just about 6.1. I'm so used to taller men, I don't even notice. I mean, when you are 5 feet tall, EVERY guy is above the horizon for you. But you know that. When I date(d) guys of normal height, like say they were 5.7 (and I hope I'm not treading on any guys' toes around here), I'd always think of them as "short." And if they were 5.2 or less? I just thought of them as brothers. I don't know why, I think women usually feel most comfortable with men around their dads' heights, and maybe that's the explanation. My dad was 5.4, and if a guy is that tall more or less, he feels like family to me.

You're so funny, Bo!! I also have a thing for height in men (have a thing for voice too), but for a different reason. All men in my family are pretty tall and so I just like tall men. And also I think short girls just like tall guys. Maybe cuz we want our children to have a fighting chance?...
