I don't buy too often via eBay - it's usually my last resort. But so far the DVDs from there have been fine. My mom is trying to get me to watch "Pure In Heart" with her when she starts, but it's like 150 episodes right? Yeah I don't think so!!! Birdy, where are you in "Arang"? I didn't start ep 13 yet. Hubby and I watched ep 3 and 4 of "I'm Sorry, I Love You" tonight. He really liked the 3rd episode. during the scene where the two guys play basketball at the hospital, he was like hey, they're pretty good! i was like yes, Koreans do play basketball! I'm really loving it second time around too. I just like watching it with someone and sharing thoughts and feelings about it. But the first time i'm glad i watched alone. Know what? It's very hard drooling over a guy when your husband is sitting right there next to you...

I haven't started ep 13 yet, I watched the next episode of "Saving Mrs. Bong Go Shil" last night since Bo and I are watching that together. Hopefully, tonight will be ep 13 of Arang. It is even tougher listening to and singing along with Big Bang when you have teenagers in the car!!!! I like your new avatar-- Do you know if the tattoo is real? It was hard to see what the picture actually is.....

I was just rereading the Pure in Heart board to remind myself of the characters. Now I miss some of them. They were so cute, even when they clashed. :-) deiner.proboards.com/board/77/pure-heart-19

I sort of took a gander at "Pure in Heart"... it looks good but still too long for me. One of the guys in it sort of reminds me of So Ji Sub... similar mouth, cute. Just watched the movie "Always/Only You." I really liked it, sad yet happy. I don't know if the tattoo in the pix is real. hope not as tattoos can cause skin cancer. In the movie SJS had only part of the tattoo, the upper arm part. I would think as an actor tattoos would hinder you... you can't keep playing different characters with the same tattoos... I guess you can just not take off your shirt... am planning to watch ep 13 of "Arang" tonight. I totally lost my momentum with it... I'm really into Korean movies all of a sudden. Watched "My Tutor Friend" which I really liked. The guy is really cute, but a little too violent. Why do all these guys fight so much??? Also watched "He was Cool." I only watched this because I know Song Seung Heon is SJS's best friend so was curious. I guess you can call it love by proxy??? Anyway, it was actually pretty good. Again the guys were way too violent. Can anyone tell me where I can get my hands on "The Great King Sejong" drama? I'm really interested in watching it but can't find it at Amazon or eBay. I emailed a seller that I buy from and she said she didn't have it either. She said she can try to procure it for me but that the quality would be really poor...

Hey Birdy, where are you??? Here's something you might be interested in: m.youtube.com/watch?v=03PnLC4Y6Swjust had dinner, cleaned up and am settling in for "Arang." Watched episode 6 of "I'm Sorry" last night with hubby. He said it was the best episode so far. We had a really interesting discussion afterwards about celebrities and how they deal with fame and relationships, and also on the topic of revenge. I really so love this drama!!!

Hi Fiona-- long week last week, finally made it through the next episode of Arang. The more I watch the drama the more questions I have, I don't know if I am just missing details or if that is just the way the drama is playing out.... Questions like: What exactly is that weird lady? What kind of fan does that Magistrate have? (and Can I have one!?!? Might come in handy at work! )Is the Magistrate really human or something else? I don't really get what is going on with the Great King.... What about Jo Wal-- Is he in some kind of curse or something by the weird lady?? And if so, why? I wonder if in the end Arang will become human again so she can be with the Magistrate or does it really matter because maybe the Magistrate isn't really human after all? Maybe none of them are human at all? ?? Aaaargh-- I thought this was a simple story of Arang and the Magistrate finding out who killed her and now all this other stuff is just making me go in circles!! Time to watch Running Man or 2 days,1 night so I can have a good laugh and watch something I can actually understand!!! Thanks for the Big Bang/Jo Si Sub video----Love that song--Love those pictures of that "bad boy" !!!

I'm not sure which tattoo you're referring to but SJS does have tattoos. It's one of the reasons why he didn't have a shower or shirtless scene in Master's Sun.

I actually like the fact that SJS didn't have shirtless or shower scenes in "The Master's Sun." I mean if they're necessary to the story, fine. Like in "Always" SJS is a boxer so there were shirtless scenes and believe me, I enjoyed them. But otherwise I don't really go for gratuitous showings of skin. _

I agree shower or shirtless scenes only when they benefit the story line-- hate when they are thrown in just because someone expects it-- one of my favorite scenes in Coffee Prince involved a "towel" scene that really set up the rest of the relationship of the two main characters.
Seen the next episode of Arang yet?

Oh sorry, I meant to answer your posting earlier, Birdy.
Now, I'm assuming you've watched episode 13 already...
The weird lady is an evil spirit who was kicked out of heaven like 400 hundred years ago and she's living like a human by borrowing dead women's bodies. She's got her eye on Arang for her next "housing". Right now she's living in the magistrate's mother's body.
the magistrate is human BUT he was given special power (and the fan) by King Jade for backup in case Moo Young can't bring himself to kill his own sister (aka the weird creepy lady).
i think Joo Wal made some kind of pact with the creepy lady. From some flashback we saw that he was like a homeless orphan and she must've promised him home and food if he did "errands" for her.
this is what I gather. Don't know if i can finish 14 tonight - hubby wants to do episode 7 of "I'm Sorry" tonight.

Thanks-- I see I am not that far off it what I have figured out about this drama, I guess it is more the "Why's" than what is actually happening, like why was the weird lady kicked out of heaven?, Why was the Magistrate given the fan (or maybe How?) Why does Moo Young have to kill his sister-- the lady is weird, but is she really harming anyone, other than taking over bodies? I can understand why Joo Wal made the pact if he was an orphan, but wasn't he suppose to marry Arang is some kind of arrange marriage? If he was an orphan, who arraged it? I guess all this makes watching the drama that much more interesting, hopefully next episode tomorrow.....

The weird lady's name, I think, is Moo Yeon. She does some harm because the errands she has Joo Wal do is kidnap and kill innocent girls every full moon and offer up to the lady. Remember the grave full of skeletons? That's all the girls they killed.
and Joo Wal's arranged marriage - he was sort of adopted by Excellency Choi. At one point Choi says he's tired of pretending Joo Wal is his son. So the arranged marriage was made between Excellency Choi and the late/last magistrate (Arang's father).
the fan was given to the magistrate by King Jade. It was in a flashback - King Jade was in human form.
Birdy, you said a while back you liked the guy who plays King Jade, that you thought he was cool. People say he looks a lot like So Ji Sub, particularly the eyes. Do you see that? I don't really. I think his eyes do look like SJS's a little but no resemblance after that...

You're right, that lady Moo Yeon is bad-- but I guess because we really haven't seen her being bad-- just seeing the results when finding the grave of bones, I wasn't really thinking that clearly..... As far as King Jade is concerned, I'm thinking that the reason he appeals to me is 1) his eyes (love those Korean eyes!)but not sure how much they look like SJS 2) the long hair with streaks of white- just have a thing for guys with long hair, I guess! Hopefully will get to ep 14 this weekend......

I'm half way through episode 14... to tell the truth, I don't feel any chemistry between the magistrate and Arang, do you? If it weren't for you, Birdy, I think I would've bailed on this drama around ep 12. But if you stick with it I will too. Husband and I finished episode 11 of "I'm Sorry, I Love You." He is really liking it a lot - at the end of almost every episode he's said, "another excellent episode." But he hates Yune. He is predicting that the drama will end with Yune getting Moo Hyuk's heart and having a "change of heart" and becoming a really loving person, and he'll marry Eun Chae and they'll live happily ever after. He says he hopes it doesn't end that way because he hates Yune and that they really don't make a good couple but he's afraid that's what'll happen. I didn't say anything, of course, but boy does he have a shocker coming to him. I think he really wants Moo Hyuk and Eun Chae to get together in the end but he pretty much thinks that's hopeless. Who believes in love after death? Me!!! i love love love this drama. The second viewing is soooo much better than the first viewing in many ways. So Ji Sub is such a good actor!!! Oh, I watched "Rough Cut" the other day. It was really good, loved SJS as a gangster - he's so cool!!! But it was way too violent!!! And a couple of "love" scenes were a leeeetle too graphic for my taste (not involving SJS, thank goodness). Really not my cup of tea but am glad I saw it though. I want to watch everything So Ji Sub is in...
