LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.21 – At the coffeeshop, Bongshil and David Kim. At Wonsook’s house, a curiouser and curiouser Geumsil and Mija, frantically dialing BS and staring at their special visitor, the ever-so-famous Kyungmi. What will happen? Well, what happens is DK offers Mrs Go restaurant space (in the same district) so she can cook for him whenever he wants, on a sort of partnership basis. She says she’ll think about it and he takes her home. There, Wonsook and Mandeuk witness Bongshil get out of the car. Geumsil and Mija run to talk to Mrs Go, and the actress runs to the door to bow, so the four fates go downstairs to tittle-tattle amongst themselves. Upstairs, Mrs Go is receiving the surprise of her life. Well, maybe her husband’s death was a bigger surprise, but this one’s a doozy. First the girl goes down on her knees (and it’s clear she doesn’t do that much LOL) begging forgiveness, and then she asserts that DK has a “thing” for Mrs Go and tries to get her to promise not to see him, both much to Bongshil’s acute embarrassment. But she accepts the apology. That evening, Five-Fingers (or whatever that trollop’s name is) sees Mrs Go has a nice restaurant in a good area and, overcome with jealousy, is caught by Wonsook muttering imprecations against her and is scared away. Despite the latter’s growls, Five begins an anonymous phone campaign against the late-night café, pretending to be various residents and businesspeople and reporting increased violence, litter and noise. Baldy receives a few visits from the health inspectors and, when Mrs Go asks him if she can pay rent instead of herbal tea (which she is running out of), he takes the opportunity to decree that she must close the place. When Inyoung is ordered to babysit for Yoon’s kids, she gets a call from Nicky, who makes her think he wants a date (but really dragoons her into helping with his part-time job with a mover). She leaves the kids with Jaesoo (who mysteriously brings his mother’s “strengthening” homemade soup for Inyoung), and when Yoon returns home, she has a loud fight with her husband over a virtual stranger babysitting her kids. Jaesoo runs away as quickly as possible, and when Yoon finds the mink coat Inyoung left on her bed, she knows exactly where it came from (Jaesoo). She’s not amused by this. Inyoung, however, has made $30 (after clumsiness deduction) and later that evening gets the joy of giving money to her mom to help out. Mom is touched and impressed. Bongshil’s herb doctor has returned from the mountains, but he has too many acupuncture patients to attend to her. She acts as his nurse, and later, he tells her he’s never seen the herb but will investigate. She’s grateful and hopeful. Oh Jincheol visits his brother Byeong-geun’s wife, who is sickly and overrun with creditors. He gives her money for doctors and the household and advises her to hide out at her parents’ for a while. He also hears from his daughter and tells her to get to Sidney (Australia) as quick as can be to stay with an uncle. Then he curses his loser absentee brother to the universe. Bro, sadly, has gone completely around the bend. Dongsik locates him and takes him to a high-end clinic so David Kim can determine what up? with the whole Seo/Oh brothers potage. Kyungmi reports to DK that she apologized to Bongshil, so could she please have her career back. He’s offended that she believed he did the thing to her that he told her he would do to her if she didn’t apologize, so she’s flummoxed. But she determines it is producer Seo Yoonyoung dogging her every footstep and goes to confront her, only to realize she’s Bongshil’s daughter. Yoon plays with her a bit--like a superior, elegant cat--then denies she did anything to Kyungmi (even after she learns of the apology) and walks coolly out the door as the actress sputters. David Kim and his dogs have a tender moment, missing Mrs Go together. Awww! Soo-ae, who has gone to visit her mom’s grave to ask forgiveness and “show herself,” decides it’s time to meet with dad (Mandeuk). She heads to Wonsook’s, where a large crowd is happily eating breakfast. Shock on every face. Mandeuk sees her, springs up from the table and begins mercilessly beating his only child. ** Inyoung was a surprisingly good babysitter, until she left the kids with a near-stranger that is. Missed it by THAT much!
Mandeuk! What a jerkface! Leaving his son in the cemetery overnight, in his underwear, to make him into a man? That worked out well.

I was actually midway through Episode 24, but I decided to go back and watch 18 to 23 again, so that's what I'm doing and so I'm just started with 22. So I should be ready with more summaries next week and maybe finish up this baby totally by the end of November.
I have enjoyed re-watching these episodes because this is where I feel the action picked up anyway.
And maybe then, I can join a discussion of Joseun Gunman, but I'm not promising anything, and I won't be doing synopses like this.

Hey Bo-- Just thought I would let you know that I finished this last week, but it has been fun reading your posts and remembering what I had seeen.... I was happy with the way it ended, for a while all the pairing up of people was getting a bit old, but it the end it was good. I was glad I stuck with this drama, it was much better that I thought it would be

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.22 – Stop! says Soo-ae, who takes her dad into her room and shows him that her change to a female is surgical, not just dressing up. Mandeuk is devastated and goes on a crying spree in the street, bewailing his unlucky fate to his ancestors. Uncle Seo and Mangeum try to get him to eat at a small diner, but he only drinks and shouts, disturbing and even attacking the other patrons. Uncle Seo receives a frantic call from Wonsook, who has learned at last from Soo-ae that Versace has the table. They rush over, but unfortunately Versace has had it tossed out in a fit of temper, but Uncle Seo remembers he stumbled against the very table when taking Mandeuk down the alleyway. However, there’s an in-the-meantime getting in their way, and the table is now gone. For David Kim has followed Bongshil around the food market, much to her initial embarrassment (but later amusement), and takes her to lunch. Turns out he grew up in a food market, because his mother operated a store there, and that is why he loves Bongshil’s cooking (it’s like mom’s). He jollies her into signing the contract, and when they look over the space, she is thrilled. She then stumbles onto the tossed-out leopard-skin table and, with Ricky’s help, takes it to the restaurant to be refinished. Ricky also offers to do carpentry work for her (his father taught him), so she’s all set. [The last half is from memory, I can’t find my notes; although I may have left a bit out, I think I got everything.]Mangeum takes Mandeuk to Geumsil’s place, where he continues to wail and drink. Nobody can get him to straighten up. That night, the three men stay in Geumsil’s store for the night and the girls (Wonsook, Geumsil, Mija and Bongshil) have a PJ party upstairs. The next morning, Soo-ae makes hangover soup for the men, but her father is not exactly appreciative. However, everyone else in the house is suitably impressed, and Uncle Seo and Mangeum dig in. Uncle Seo and Wonsook (ADOR-able!), after their long search in the cold, decide what to tell Jinchoel (who has sold his store and is planning to flee). When they do, he goes crazy on them and runs over to shout at Versace, then starts digging through the trash. The man who’s following Jincheol for David Kim sees him get kidnapped by the Japanese, so he calls Dongsik, who rescues Jincheol just as he’s about to get cut up. There’s a big fight, DK’s guys win, but Jincheol disappears and they aren’t able to trace him. DK is peeved by this. They note that there’s no progress with brother Byung-geun, either. Bongshil gets her place set up and finished, with everyone’s help—including Yoon, who meets David Kim there and demands to have tea with him (much to Mrs Go’s worry and discomfort). However, they come to an understanding. DK thinks Mrs Go will be successful, and Yoon should just believe in her and not be so worried about DK’s motives. She declares pax and tells her mom to go for it. So, the big grand opening arrives and who should show up but silly Jaesoo and his overbearing (but surprisingly wise) mother, who is going out of town for a month so wants to make sure the wedding is set before Inyoung gets too poofed out. Aha, this is what Jaesoo has told her. Jaesoo Oma runs up to Mrs Go and announces, loudly, that Inyoung is pregnant and shouldn’t be working so hard. This brings the party to a halt with a thump. **Interesting that the translator thought it wasn’t good enough that Mandeuk was calling out to his own father for help in this troubled time—he changed “abuji” to “God” in the translation. Maybe because he thought English-speakers are too stupid to understand crying out to the forefathers in times of trouble.
I loved David Kim’s jokey bragging to Mrs Go—“I’m a pretty good businessman, y’know, your little business isn’t going to hurt mine if you lose some money.” “Just sign on the dotted line. I’m a busy man.” LOL. So cute.

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.23 – The place blows up. Inyoung loudly denies she is pregnant or ever even did anything more than holding Jaesoo’s hand. He explains to his mother that he lied because Inyoung said she’d marry him to get money for her Mom’s debts—which Inyoung doesn’t even remember. Ricky runs out, and so do Jaesoo, his mom (hitting him with her purse) and everyone except immediate family. Inyoung explains she must have been upset after the Kyungmi attack incident and must have drunk-asked Jaesoo for money, because she figures if she had some of the ready, her mom wouldn’t have to humiliate herself. Yoon is not patient with her sister, but everyone else seems to feel sorry and forgives her. Later at home, Yoon reams the girl out, but Inyoung seems to think she did nothing wrong and is entirely a victim. Yoon also yells at Kyungsoo for always defending Jaesoo, but he maintains that Inyoung and Jaesoo would be a wise match. Meanwhile, Ricky sits listening to sad music and moping about, and Inyoung can’t reach him. Dr Wow calls Mrs Go in the middle of the night because he’s so frustrated that he can’t identify the herb. He demands she bring over people who were cured by it, so Bongshil gets Geumsil, Mija and Mangeum to visit Dr Wow, who asks insulting questions but ends up amusing the trio. Dr Wow swears he’s going to get to the bottom of this herb thing. When she visited Geumsil earlier, Bongshil had told her (a) let those two get their own place, and (b) they ought to get married before Mija gets too “big.” Wonsook has offered them the rooftop apartment and fixed the heater for them, but they are responsible for papering etc. Everybody happy. David Kim is excited, he’s had Dongsik buy dishes for Mrs Go’s store, and that good fellow has found expensive and genuine LeCreuset ware, which they take over to the café. [Cute scene with DK looking over the stuff and DS explaining its worth.] Dongsik carries it in, and DK gets the credit. While DK is giving her the benefit of his business acumen, Dongsik runs out and buys Bongshil a little geranium in a pot. She’s so happy with this small gift that DK is a bit irritated and short with Dongsik (who we must remember is the one who found the good pots and dishes for her in the first place so DK is being a little overbearing in Bo’s opinion]. Peeved, DK finds out from DS that Mrs Go had a greenhouse, so he sends DS on a wild goose chase to check on Byung-geun personally and calls his front desk to get ahold of the best botanist in the country. [“Not for trees, you dummy, for flowers! The best, I said!”] It turns out however there’s been a breakthrough with Byung-geun, who tells his therapist how his brother swindled Seo and was responsible for the entire debacle, but BG still feels responsible and guilty. In a clear violation of ethics, he is filmed in this confession and when DK sees it, he and Dongsik discuss who might be guilty of what. DK concludes Jincheol must have murdered Seo, since BG is incapable. Bongshil discovers Jincheol (who is off fishing in some fancy duds, nervously jumping at every noise) has disappeared and tells Uncle Seo and Wonsook. Mutter, mutter, mutter. In other news, Soo-ae and her father finally come to an understanding, but not without some potential rapists coming along and threatening her, but she beats them up and defends her dad with her kung-fu skilz. Then she assures dad she’ll be able to get a marine for a husband and adopt a child to continue the family line. After this, Geumsil discovers that Mandeuk has Seo’s watch, and then Soo-ae overhears them, and they decide he has to take it to Bongshil in the evening, after the grand opening of her restaurant that day. The opening goes great, and then Geumsil and Mandeuk bring the watch to Bongshil and explain what happened. The latter becomes very upset for some reason when she sees the watch, and after they leave, David Kim (after 10:00 p.m.!!!!!!) arrives for his first meal. He sends Dongsik away when he sees her crying—she’s nearly hysterical--walks in and takes her into his arms. [END] ****** It’s so sweet that Uncle Seo calls Wonsook “Grace,” like all her close friends. I can’t quite tease out what Bongshil is calling her, though. Probably something in Korean that means “foolish child” (affectionately of course) (har).
And I think I owe Fiona (or whatever she’s called these days—I like “Grace,” ) an apology for teasing her about majesty vs highness, because I’m exactly the same way about similar things, like calling people by their titles instead of names but then translating them as though everyone is on a personal-name basis. But also, I am eternally amused by other odd things that happen with the translations—such as, the fact that this particular translator for this episode calls Jincheol “Jin Chloe”—he does look like a Chloe with that pretty curly hair. LOL. Darned spellcheck.

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp 24 – David Kim takes a weeping Mrs Go into his arms, which she seems to sink into at first but then becomes alarmed when he won’t let go. However, Geumsil arrives to see if she’s all right, and they fly apart. He quickly leaves in embarrassment. The older woman comments on his obvious manliness. (HAH!) Later, DK seems to be mulling over his emerging feelings for Mrs Go and to be puzzled by them. He visits her at the restaurant, with his hair rakishly combed over one eye (not really, but he thinks so), and tells her he’s not sure why he’s acting this way. He’d just like to go with it. He also asks her to prepare food for his deceased mother’s upcoming birthday anniversary, and she agrees to do this for him. However, she still scary-yells at poor Wonsook later when she teases Mrs Go about DK’s feelings. Inyoung tries to get a hostile Nicky to talk with her at Baldy’s restaurant, then makes a scene until he forgives her, rather abruptly I must say, but whatever. Later she tells Soo-ae and Wonsook that she didn’t cry to get her way, but obviously this was a bald-faced lie. Sorry, Baldy, no offense. The Japanese gangster visits David Kim and asks him to explain his involvement, which he basically does. He asks for info on Jincheol’s whereabouts, which DK says he’ll forward to him, but then DK tells Dongsik they must find Jincheol before Yamaguchi [or whatever he's called] does, or Jincheol is a dead duck. For his part, Jincheol is trying to figure out what David Kim wants with him. Wonsook looks over some old baby toys and an infant’s photo. “He must be married by now,” she murmurs. [Hmmmm, developments.] Mrs Go tells her family about Seo's watch, lying about who found it. Although all are upset when she says they must sell it to pay their debt, they all understand except Inyoung, who cries like a child but eventually calms down. Kyungsoo will handle getting the watch repaired and sold. Mija and Mangeum’s wedding day arrives, but the bride has eaten her way out of the dress in a few days’ time. Super-seamstress Wonsook to the rescue however. (Wonsook also made Mija a red nightie for her wedding night, scandalizing Geumsil. But Mangeum looked pretty happy.) Uncle Seo’s suit is too flashy to give away the bride, so Mandeuk, decked out in a white suit by his adoring daughter, takes the honor. It’s a lovely Catholic wedding, and they even have their priest friend from Nam Hae performing the ceremony. David Kim receives reports about his rival for Mrs Go’s affections, the deceased Seo. Seo was honest, upright, polite and well-respected. Everyone called him “the English Gentleman.” He’s not surprised when he learns Yoon is not Bongshil’s bio-daughter—“I THOUGHT she was different from our Ajumma!” LOL… Then he looks at some family photos Dongsik must have “liberated” from Mrs Go’s photo album, because I don’t know where the heck else he would have gotten them. But guess what! Byung-geun has come out of his funk and can converse. Dongsik and DK pay him a visit, explaining they are friends of Mrs Go. “Your brother will be caught by the gangsters soon. Tell us everything so at least we can protect your innocent kids and sick wife." They show him a photo of his family, which they again obviously ransacked from his house, and he tells DK, “Bring Mrs Go. I’ll confess all to her.” She’s at the wedding, where Mija tosses the bouquet accidentally to Mandeuk instead of the girls (and Baldy). Everybody happy and amused. When David Kim arrives to get Mrs Go at her café, he finds the wedding feast in progress. He’s surprised that everyone thinks they have to leave until Dongsik explains he told Mrs Go she’d have to empty the place if DK wanted to eat. He looks displeased and assures everyone they can go on with their party. He doesn’t tell Bongshil about Byung-geun, but asks for some food and sits down. The kids come over to introduce themselves. Even Yoon is nice to him. Dongsik explains to DK that these are hometown people who are like Mrs Go’s family, but wonders if they shouldn’t tell her about Byung-geun right away. They don’t eat. They just ask for food and leave it sitting there. What a waste. Dongsik asks Mrs Go to come outside to talk with DK privately. “You have somewhere to go right now. Oh Byung-geun has something to tell you about the death of your husband.” She goes with them, seemingly overwhelmed by the private sanctuary they take her to. She walks into the room, and when Byung-geun sees her, he falls at her feet, weeping, “It’s all my fault!” She’s shocked. [end] **So, how many times in these synopses have I called Nicky “Ricky” instead? How the heck am I supposed to keep that straight? LOL…
The meeting between Yamaguchi the gangster and DK was impeccably done. I loved all the pauses while Yamaguchi digested David Kim’s wildly improbable statements. “I’m just a simple businessman who owns this small hotel.” “I don’t know about any paintings, I’m just helping out my friend Seo who died under a cloud.” I was ROFL.
The church-wedding conversation with the priest was a little confusing, they made it sound as though Mija hadn’t even reserved the church, but obviously she had because she got married there the next day. Also, it would have made sense for them to all go home to Nam Hae and get married among all their old friends, but I guess the club crowd might have upset the neighborhood… So, I guess Mandeuk and Geumsil are headed for the alter. That’s all I can assume.
It seems to me there are only two choices to be Wonsook’s child: Kyungsoo, who is obviously just like her, although we don’t know his personal history, and Dongsik, who we know is a pretty stylish guy and an orphan besides. I wonder who it will be?

I feel sorry that I couldn't get these done while Birdy was watching them, but what can you do.
It does give me a certain degree of freedom in writing these, however. I'm amusing myself, in any case.
If someone wants to comment I'd like them to do so, if you just comment on something I've said in the post you won't be spoiling me. I love this show, it's kind of lonely not talking to anyone. LOL...

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEps.25 & 26 I am combining these because nothing much happens in Ep.25 except that Bong Shil learns all details about the Oh brothers’ betrayal, is very shocked and upset, and then decides to forgive Byung-geun after visiting his sick wife and pitiful, cold children (she generously buys food and warm coats for them and gives them money so mom can go to the doctor) with David Kim in tow. However, she definitely thinks Jincheol should pay—especially since he actually killed her husband. Bongshil tells David Kim she will tell her family in her own time. Well, okay, there are a few other things. Such as some flirtation between Nicky and Inyoung, and when Uncle Seo finds Grace drinking her sorrow away after Mija’s wedding, they go out together instead and drink and sing and have a fine time talking about how great it is to be free and single. Also, the herb doctor tests a new mixture on Mangeum and Mija, but it’s a bust. [He’s frustrated and in Episode 26, he demands that Mrs Go make it worth his while to do all this worrying on her behalf.] Geumsil, upset over Mija and Mangeum’s failure to call her when on their honeymoon, drowns her sorrows in soju with Mandeuk, who also wants to cry about the younger generation. They talk about the old days and the great kimchi stew you could get, and lo and behold, Soo-ae shows up with homemade kimchi stew. Lucky old gets. However, they wake up together in the morning, Mandeuk without pants, and embarrassment ensues. David Kim makes Dongsik watch the Flower Table while he takes Mrs Go to a beautiful garden, because Mandeuk and Soo-ae come in for lunch. Mandeuk decides Dongsik is a good fit for Soo-ae, as he’s an ex-marine, so he grills the poor guy on her behalf. Soo-ae approves. Finally, we see that Jincheol has decided to jump in with both boots. He goes to gangster Yamaguchi and tells him he can find the paintings if he gets some help and protection from David Kim, who is mysteriously on his case. Later, Jincheol happens upon Bong-shil’s new restaurant.[End of Ep.25] Ep.26 – The Japanese gangsters and Jincheol troupe over to Versace’s club and wreck the place when she disavows all knowledge of the whereabouts of the furry table. She gives them a photo of herself sitting on the table and says that’s all she knows about it. Uncle Seo comes and helps her clean up (all her girls ran off because she’s such a jerk), then he goes to Grace and they discuss how crazy Jincheol has turned out to be.
David Kim and Dongsik both keep an eye on Bongshil and her family, but don’t tell them. They are aware of every move made by Jincheol and the gangsters, but don’t want to make an open move because then a gang war would begin in the area. To DK, finding the paintings is the priority.
Geumsil is upset with Mija and Mangeum and runs off without telling them where she’s going. [It turns out she’s taking a class in English at the civic center, from an honest-to-goodness American who can speak good Korean too.] But before they find that out, they are gently scolded by all the elders in the household—Mandeuk, Bongshil and even Wonsook tell them they made a mistake by ignoring Geumsil the first night they were away from home. It all works out, and Geumsil thinks they should learn some foreign languages too.
Mandeuk also tells Geumsil she shouldn’t be so worked up about spending the night with him, and then tells her she’s got small boobs. Strangely, she’s kinda upset by that.
Kyungsoo is worried because he hasn’t heard anything from the script contest. Then he gets a phone call from his older sister, who says she and Dad are making a surprise visit. Yoon and Kyungsoo go out for dinner with them, and then are shocked to learn Dad is dying of inoperable pancreatic cancer. They go to their old family home (now sold) and take a photo of the family there. Later, we learn that Kyungsoo is adopted, which may be why he goes all bonkers on his poor sister for not telling him anything earlier about Dad, and his father gives him the clothing they got him in from his birth mother. He says she must have loved him because the clothes are handmade and the child was well taken care of. Kyungsoo clutches the clothes and cries in Yoon’s arms, and then we see the little pink signature sewn in, “Grace” in English.
Wonsook, because she’s so nice, makes some new clothes for Bongshil. She signs the pieces with her sewn-in signature—“Grace” in pink.
Nicky, meanwhile, gets a part in a stage musical—“Goong 3.” Yep, that guy hasn’t got an ounce of talent from what I can see. He asks Inyoung to come out for coffee, and they giggle over how great it’s going to be. Meanwhile, poor Jaesoo’s mother has had to call in the doctor because he has a mysterious wasting disease. The doctor says he should see a psychiatrist.
David Kim takes Bongshil out for a coffee and she gives him a pack of the “seeds of hope” and talks about how different her life is now. He tells her his life is very different from when he was younger, and he’s happier now. Dongsik takes them to see the fence of locks, brings a padlock to DK and tells him his “love will flourish” if he puts it on the fence with his name and Bongshil’s—also he points out the lovers’ benches that will make a girl fall into your lap. DK follows this advice, but tells Bongshil the lock is for good luck. He doesn’t show her the part where he wrote “David [heart] Bongshil” on the back of it. Then he gets her to sit on the bench and she falls right into his lap. Heh heh.

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.27 (Not in strict “show” order, but to make sense in describing events.) David Kim happily sits on the lovers’ bench, letting his true love, the totally oblivious Bongshil, fall against him and get all flustered while he puts on “I don’t know what could possibly be happening here” face when she looks at him and “Heh Heh Heh” face when she’s not. It would be creepy if he wasn’t so childlike about it. Dongsik stands nearby, giggling up his silly sleeve. Later, DK’s about to kiss her while walking her home, but Geumsil hears something and scares them off. DK plants the green candy seeds in a flowerpot. Geumsil’s teacher comes over for breakfast to teach English to her and Wonsook, Mangeum, Mija and Soo-ae. Grumpy old Mandeuk is (a) annoyed by the foreigner, (b) annoyed by the English (but it seems like he might be able to understand it but is pretending otherwise); and (c) jealous when teacher grabs Geumsil’s hand to reassure her. These Americans, so touchy-feely. Wonsook presents Mrs Go with the pink blouse she made for her, as Mrs Go is giving a lunch for Kyungsoo’s dying dad, and Yoon (who loves the blouse) comes in and shows the photo of the family in front of their old house. Wonsook is very disturbed because she recognizes the place for some reason she can’t identify, and leaves. At dad’s hotel, Kyungsoo agrees to trust his sister to call him and let him know to come “before it’s too late” instead of going with them. Then Kyungsoo receives a phone call saying he won the national scriptwriting contest. Everyone is very happy and excited, and Dad says he can “leave now” knowing his son will be a success. They take him and sis to the airport and there’s a tearful goodbye. In a side story, Jaesoo’s doctor convinces his worried mother that he has “love sickness,” which he says is a common illness now among spoiled young people who’ve always gotten their way before. Mom feels devastated. At Yoon’s house, Inyoung gives a spare thought to remember Jaesoo when little Hana asks her where he’s gone, but she shrugs it off. Soo-ae runs into Inyoung and Ricky on the street and is disgusted by their lovey-dovey activities when they eat dinner together. She wonders what Dongsik is doing. In an attempt to force a revelation of the missing fur-covered cabinet, the gangsters and Jincheol have posted the photograph given to them by Versace of her sitting on the thing. She finds these on the street, becomes inflamed with anger and calls the posted number, then meets them to demand payment for use of her image and also for the damage to her club. She ain’t afraid of nooooo-body—she grew up in Hong Kong. Although Jincheol is incensed and wants her dead, the gangster consigliere (not the main guy with the ponytail, but his adjutant) is terribly amused and gives her the cash after she declares that Japan does not have a right to Dok-do and that the police are outside (hilarious). Uncle Seo, Wonsook, Soo-ae and Baldy are later horrified but impressed with this turn of events, and she even gives some cash to Baldy because of his injuries. Ricky has also seen the poster and recognizes the cabinet. He brings one to Mrs Go, who sensibly calls David Kim (who has just heard about this) instead of the number on the poster. He comes over with Dongsik. They open up the back, find the national treasures (paintings) and explain to her that this is what Jincheol has been crazily seeking. She realizes why he bought Seo’s store, and she remembers all the contact she’s had with him since Seo’s death in a new light. She’s very upset about this further evidence of betrayal. DK and Dongsik trick the Yamaguchi gang by letting them know where the cabinet is, but not that the police have been given the paintings. They get it, but Dongsik brings his henchmen and then the cops follow the gang, but they (naturally) lose them. When the paintings aren’t in the cabinet, Jincheol immediately informs on Mrs Go (what a shate). DK has taken Bongshil to his father’s temple because it’s dad’s memorial day but mostly to get her out of the way and they’ve had a pleasant time, but the gangsters show up that evening and attack with knives outside Geumsil's store. DK protects her valiantly, but he’s cornered and they begin to cut him up. Bongshil screams in horror.[END] ****** I thought Yoon was especially human when with her in-laws, she was even sweet and supportive of Kyungsoo, it made me see what he might have seen in her because she’s just pretty much been a shrew to him up to this point.
Versace is hilarious. She’s just the cat’s meow. I love her.

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.28 Dongsik to the rescue! With a little help from kung-fu Soo-ae until his posse arrives, he chases off the gangsters. [Yamaguchi tricked them, so their men were too disbursed to take care of the problem before it started.] David Kim insists he take Go Bongshil (who swears Soo-ae to silence) to the hotel for safety, where they temporarily fix up DK with some bandages and then take off to confront the gangsters. She waits there until everything is over. DK meets with the Japanese contingency and wonders if Yamaguchi’s boss, a sometime associate of DK, knows his guys are starting a war with DK. [Obviously, he does not.] After DK reveals the paintings are in the hands of the authorities, he returns the money they spent on them, both as a gift and a gesture of respect. The Japanese agree to hand over Jincheol, but he’s running around the woods in a panic. Of course, he’s easily captured and brought to DK’s secret warehouse meeting place, where he is confronted by his brother. He refuses to admit he did anything at all or to turn himself in, even though Byung-geun tells him it’s all over, they know everything, so DK sends Jincheol to the police station. The police later announce they have enough evidence to convict, even though JC never confesses. Versace is going to Japan to demand the rest of her money. At the airport, Baldy is frightened by the gangsters, standing in a line, waiting for their plane. A look passes between Versace and Yamaguchi’s lieutenant, and she sashays over to join them. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine, but I may not return at all,” she throws back at Baldy. He tells Wonsook and the rest about this and they all marvel at what large balls Versace has managed to retain. Okay, that was very, very bad on oh so many levels. I freely admit it. Soo-ae runs over to see if Dongsik has come to the Flower Table and is shocked to see what a mess the place is. Mrs Go carefully picks up the flower Dongsik gave her so she can repot it. Awww. Dongsik and Soo-ae help her clear the place up and DS thanks a modest SA for her help in the fight. Soo-ae promises Mrs Go to wait for an explanation and not tell anyone. Yoon is worried about Kyungsoo, who is still in shock about his father. Little Hana tries to cheer him up too. That child is a future Inyoung in the making. Yoon is congratulated on her husband winning the prize by her assistant and sometime admirer, Sungmin, who notes that Kyungsoo is a really good writer who just didn’t get recognition until now--so that’s nice. Yoon takes some sample babyclothes they received to Mija, who then asks if they can borrow Yoon’s son Eunho’s layette and maybe some other baby stuff. Yoon agrees and calls Inyoung to bring over the layette. Mrs Go recalls pleasant memories about her relationship with Seo. Then, because the arrest will be big in the news, she reveals all to her family and explains about the murder and Jincheol’s other nefarious activities, and how Byung-geun was involved. Predictably, Yoon blames her mom for hiding it and screams that BS doesn’t act like family and never reveals anything, and how can she be so weird, etc. Everyone acts like a complete ass. Mrs G screams at them in defense of herself (finally!!!). She didn’t know what was going to happen, and she didn’t know when or if they’d be able to get the evidence so why should she burden her family in the meantime? Everyone finally calms down and Yoon stops being such a jerk, but rather slopes off to the Han to weep in her husband’s lovin’ arms while remembering what a great dad Seo was. Inyoung goes to Ricky to cry it out on his shoulder, but poor Uncle Seo has to sit in the street sniveling and drinking alone [cannot re-find this Uncle Seo scene, but it seems logical that it fell here rather than in Ep.29]. Earlier, Inyoung clumsily mixed Kyungsoo’s baby clothes in with the layette and took them over to Geumsil’s store, where Wonsook was shocked to see her own nickname ("Grace") embroidered into them. Also shocked by the one-year baby picture of Eunho, she runs out with the Kyungsoo layette and the photo, claiming she’s starting a line of baby clothes, then compares Eunho with her own son’s photo. They are exactly alike. She recalls all previous conversations with Kyungsoo, who has a lot of her own characteristics, personal tastes and habits. The Nam-hae “family” are later shocked by the news about Jincheol, although they all seem to have had his number generally. They wonder why Wonsook is so upset, but attribute it to her brief contact with Jincheol. Mrs Go and her family have a special service at the Catholic church to set Seo’s soul to rest. There’s also a wedding, a baptism and a funeral [busy church (chapel?)]. Outside the service, David Kim respectfully waits. He receives a visit from a strange man who talks about the cycle of life, and how the truth will eventually come out, then thanks DK for “everything” and reaches his hand out for a handshake. DK hesitates but shakes his hand. He apparently doesn’t recognize Seo from the many photos of him he’s seen previously, so when Dongsik comes up, DK is surprised that the man has disappeared. At that moment, we see the mystery herb plant in DK’s office start to grow. Bongshil and her family emerge from the church. Family bow. DK bow. Then DK and Bongshil gaze at each other as a lovely song [untranslated but probably about new love or summat right?] plays. [END] *****Loved the look on Dongsik’s face when Soo-ae jumped in with her flashing feet. LOL.
“Who is that woman anyway?” “Its m’girlfriend, sucka.” HAH!
Obviously the two baby pictures are of the actor baby, pretty smart huh? I’m glad this Wonsook baby situation is finally coming to a head.
It’s kind of funny, I think, how Catholics believe you have to tell God that this guy didn’t commit suicide so he should be admitted into heaven after all. But maybe it’s more like, okay, now WE know the truth so we hope you’ll forgive US, Mr. God.
I guess I'll be visiting the warm place whether I believe in it or not.

As you might be able to tell from the Ep.28 post, I also watched Ep.29 but have not had a chance to write the synopsis. By Friday, I hope.

LINK TO CAST LIST THREADEp.29: Flower Table Cafe is a huge hit, people line up to get in while David Kim has his meal alone there. However, Go Bongshil refuses to look at him, and he’s a little unsure what to do. He asks Dongsik if he’s noticed her weirdness, but of course she’s being normal to him, so DK just gets irritated with DS and with himself for asking him. Yoon has discovered a way to sue Jincheol and get some of the money back, because the investigators found his secret accounts. She calls Kyungsoo and makes him go to the cafe and tell Mom. He does, and also says he’s giving her half the prize money. When she refuses, he pretends insult because he’s family, so she accepts. He will send the rest to his father he says. Geumsil and Mandeuk are both popular at the senior center, but get their noses out of joint when seeing the attention the other one receives there. After, Uncle Seo proposes a partnership to Mandeuk at the transgender club site, to open a club for “people like us”—oldsters who like “good” music presumably. MD would give him the money, Uncle would run the place and MD could strut around and call himself CEO. MD seems intrigued but he’s a cheapskate so who knows. Wonsook/Grace cannot eat or sleep. Soo-ae convinces her to go to eat at the Flower Table. However, Kyungsoo has come over to tell Bongshil about Yoon’s lawsuit, and they all meet in the street. Wonsook won’t speak, and when he walks away (rather puzzled), she faints. Inyoung has made a “Ricky sings” shirt for him. He teases her but is happy and thinks it looks really good. (It looks good for a regular teenager, but not for a college-level art student, just sayin’.) They are confronted in a café by Jaesoo, and the three end up outside where Jaesoo tries to punch Ricky but just ends up on the ground with scraped hands—no punches having been exchanged. When he goes home to cry to his mom over his injuries, she snaps and starts smacking him around because he’s driving her out of her mind. Mandeuk goes into a lady shop and buys lingerie for Geumsil. He gives it to her, saying her underwear is not alluring, and she kicks him out but is secretly pleased. However, Mija and Mangeum catch her looking over the goods so they tease her and she runs into her room, blushing. DK’s superdooper florist/plant expert brings him a very rare plant for Bongshil. After the man leaves, DK practically hugs himself with glee and carefully plans how to present it to her without looking desperate. At her place, Bongshil is considering her relationship with DK also; she concludes that it’s time she stood on her own two feet. That night, DK lies awake and decides that Bongshil is more cold-hearted than she appears. Mrs Go takes Mija and Mangeum to the open-air market and shows them how to pick out good produce. She hires them to help her at the restaurant, too. Later, Dr. Wow shows up with a new potion using “good Korean herbs” he’s invented to duplicate her plant. He gives some to Mangeum, who becomes a super-dynamo, so it works. Dr. Wow eats her food and looks at her menus, and tells her she has a natural knack for practicing the medicine where food heals the body. He gives all his rights along with the recipe to Mrs Go. She refuses, but he talks her into it and says she can support him with her profits from this new product. He also gives her the name of someone who can help her market and produce it. First, however, Grace’s old jailbird boyfriend shows up and drags her into an alley to demand money and other favors. Mrs Go is walking by the alley and flies to Grace’s defense, and so does Uncle Seo who is also passing by. While the men tussle, Bongshil makes a smart phone call to Dongsik who brings reinforcements and they drag that guy off. One almost feels sorry for him when they take him to a warehouse and beat the crud out of him. Almost. Uncle Seo tells Mandeuk, Soo-ae and Baldy about the encounter, and finds out this guy made himself seem gentle to Wonsook years before, but he ended up swindling her and using her home and cash to carry out other crimes. She was bankrupted by him and is still paying off the debt. Dongsik arrives and tells them the problem is solved. Mrs Go assures Wonsook that nobody will think her halfwitted, only too innocent to recognize evil. Then Bongshil swears she’ll break that guy’s legs if she ever sees him again. [So sweet.] Soo-ae and her father continue to practice her womanly wiles on Dongsik, who doesn’t seem up to fending them off. If he wants to, that is. Later, Mandeuk, Soo-ae and Geumsil try to get Grace to eat. They tell her they are her family and family understands you. She goes off to cry, and Geumsil tells them to let her get it out of her system. Geumsil will make sure she eats. Kyungsoo learns his dad is feeling better since his trip, and is happy to tell his sister he’s sending the money, which she finally accepts. He remembers his layette and goes a little nuts when it’s missing, so calls are made. Wonsook then apparently calls him to come to Bongshil’s place to pick them up. At the café, Wonsook tells Bongshil that she’s used the name “Grace” since she was 20, but doesn’t get any further when Kyungsoo arrives. He is puzzled, looking at her crying, and Mrs Go seems to know this ain’t gonna be good. [END] ***DK was rubbing his left arm when he talked to Dongsik about Mrs Go. That could be worrying, but it might just be actor “business” and not mean anything at all I suppose. But still. I hope not, because he's being ADORABLE!
Geumsil and Mandeuk’s turnaround in favor of Grace is really sweet.
