Finally got confirmation that One Million Roses will definitely be the drama that follows Yellow Handkerchief. They showed English text across last night's episod of YH with this information...

I for one will NOT follow another Korean drama so soon after YH. The downside to being hooked on a longstanding series is the almost daily commitment one must make to follow it. I think of all the other things I could be doing.

Hi All,
Yes it does take some time to be involved with the drama--I have to watch mine at around midnight. I am afraid to tape because of the of times it starts, so i stay up every night. Up until two weeks ago I wouldn't even go out on friday until after the show went off. Hopefully the programmer will be more precise with omr so i can tape it and some sleep-- thank goodness i don't work until 10a. Thank you for your time-Deb

Oh my gosh... That's hysterical... I thought I was the only one that worked my schedule around YH... I refused to answer the phone between 8:20pm & 9:pm. Most my friends & relatives knew not to call during that time Mon-Fri. I look forward to watching OMR because I used to watch 2 American soaps & I gave them up & just made YH my daily TV fix.... So I figure one TV show habit is ok...... Besides, K-dramas are way better than American soaps!

Luckily, I have scarcely any other life outside Daruma-watching, so I can see it all! ;D
Well, not quite, but often the rest of the world must take a back seat. Especially where YH is concerned.

At the end of To Be With You, I remember saying..."that's it, I am not going to commit myself to another one"...but I couldn't resist and came back after only missing a couple of episodes of YH. One thing I do love about Korean dramas is that they don't last years and years like American soaps. YH started in April and is now close to finishing here in Chicago. I love that because you can enjoy the stories and characters of one drama for a few months, then move on to the next one which will bring different stories and new characters to love and hate...or if you seriously need a break, you can do that (if you can) knowing you can come back after 6 months or so and a new one should be starting soon. Again I say, if you are able to tear yourself away.

For those of you who have already started watching One Million Roses, what is your first impression of the drama? Is it good?
I didn't watch TBWY, it didn't capture my attention, I'm wondering if it will be the same case with OMR.
It seems like it's a "So This is Love" reunion.

I watched OMR but fell asleep before it was over. Actually, I think it will be good (I've yet to see any K-drama I've watched be anything but good!). I love seeing some of the same characters that have been in past dramas.. I fell asleep out of exhaustion & not because the story seemed uninteresting. I saw most of it. I guess I'm still reeling over the ending of YH. It usually takes 5 or 6 episodes to 'hook' me. I'm looking forward to being 'hooked'....

nsheldon is right, you have to give a new drama a week before you can decide to love it or leave it! YH was the first drama I had seen where I was hooked right away. I had to work at liking some of the others, but I never considered NOT watching. Korean dramas are far superior than anything on American TV. I figure that a half hour a day is a guilty pleasure that I can afford!

Jenny & LUVZ.. hope you both stay with the board. We need a new one for OMR... I totally agree about K-dramas... They offer so much more than American soaps. K-dramas have (happy) endings & it's ending can be something to look forward to. On American soaps they just keep bringing more guys on for Erica to marry! I also agree that 1/2 hr of K-drama is something we sure do deserve!!

If those from LA will wait for us, I'm pretty sure there will be a OMR section here on the fan board and I will definitely be posting! It will be nice to discuss our first impressions of this new drama. I wish I would have been able to discuss the first episodes of YH!

Yes, I see that a lot of familiar actors and actresses are back again in “One Million Roses.”
The first episode last night kept my interest, but I can’t say that I was wildly crazy about it. But, I didn’t turn it off, either. It was okay. As both nsheldon and Jenny say, it always takes a few episodes to really get the feel of a new series (even YH didn’t grab me right away). I do think that OMR has some potential, but I guess we’ll all have a better idea about it in a week or two.

Hello, Kathy, I don't know of OMR being on tape, but if there are any Korean video rental stores near where you live, it's worth a try. I've heard that some do stock it. You can watch OMR over the internet on soompi.com. Last time I tried, the 300k feed wasn't working, though. Also, no English subtitles. www.soompi.com/media/show.php?show_id=71I'm curious why you posted in the "Yellow Handkerchief" fourm. YH was terrific, but there's not much action around here these days. Please be sure to drop by the "One Million Roses" forum and say hello to everybody! (edit: whoops, looks like you've already found it!) ;D
