(Sorry I'm late with this--I hurt my back this week and have been a little disconnected. I'm better now.) The episode is narrated by Arang for some reason.
Yiseol at first is inclined to dismiss the couch scene between Sherlock and Minyoung, but when she notices that M is wearing the necklace Sherlock showed Yiseol (but ended up giving to M for cab fare), she concludes that they are an item and she should not have worried about Sherlock so much. She also wonders out loud why she feels sad about this.
The freaky girl (Soo-a) shows up. Sherlock kicks her out, but Minyoung agrees to help her. Soo-a only wants DAC to “fix her up” so she can tell her feelings to her young man herself. Sherlock first says no to the job, then tells Minyoung to go ahead but he won’t help. He later laughs at her because she can’t even figure out who the target actually is. They argue and make a bet, whoever wins, that person will have to do the other’s bidding. The Master adds to Minyoung that he’ll back her in the bet and do something nice for her if she wins, and even if she loses, he’ll buy her a drink.
It’s a hard row. Soo-a is just too afraid of men. She went to an all-girl school and lives with her aunt and grannie. She won’t even come out from behind her hair. She can’t look Moojin in the face at all, and she spends an uncomfortable hour in the little tent with the nonthreatening Arang--but she does talk with him. Unexpectedly, Sherlock helps out, coaching Arang and giving suggestions to Moojin to pass on. (He tells Arang to say that princesses in fairytales are beautiful because they assume “I must be beautiful because I’m a princess.”) Minyoung is thrilled and thinks she’s doing it on her own. There’s a bit of flirty-flirty between Sherlock and Minyoung, to the discomfort of both.
At one point, Minyoung and Sherlock are arguing when the two thugs show up. Finding Soo-a alone (chicken-hearted DAC hiding), they first threaten her, but when she mentions she heard them calling the Master “boss” at the restaurant, they cower like craven dogs. Minyoung concludes she’s so frightening even they ran off, but Sherlock says to himself, I think she was talking about the Master.
Minyoung tricks Soo-a into sitting down where Arang can clip long bangs into her hair. Moojin takes her out for a meal, and while Minyoung coaches Soo-a from afar (Talk! Look up!), Sherlock also coaches Moojin on what to say to her (when people stare at you, why don’t you just believe it’s because you are pretty or they like your dress). However, when Soo-a says she has bad luck, Moojin comes up with his own advice: You don’t have bad luck or you’d never have met that guy you like. Also, decide to think, “I’m a cute girl,” and then do things that make you cute, such as smile, be confident, touch things a lot. (My favorite Minyoung line: “I didn’t think Moojin could talk in complete sentences.”) Also, he tells her she can’t choose when to be ready, she just has to take chances when they come to her or she’ll miss them. This appears to be a pivotal moment for Soo-a, who finally looks straight at the surprised Moojin.
Moojin has realized that he likes what “cute girls” do. He takes his waitress on a romantic date with music and fireworks, looking over the city at night.
The Master is confronted by some goons, who say he is the “second Boss of Seogang” and want to crush him so they can get ahead in the organization. The Master holds a knife (Minyoung’s gift knife) to one guy’s throat and they run off. But then he sees that Minyoung witnessed the whole thing. She rushes off after babbling that she’ll forget about it. Both are very upset.
Next day, Minyoung gets a call from Soo-a, who plans to confront her crush, even though she’s not ready yet. Minyoung rushes to the theme park to stop her. Sherlock, who cannot locate Moojin (out with the waitress), overcomes his fear of bad luck and rushes to the park, to Arang’s great surprise.
Soo-a tells her crush, a magician, what his presence has meant to her and returns his watch that he dropped earlier. He doesn’t recognize her, but then he gives her the watch and tells her she broke it (she causes machinery to break with her presence) and asks her to repair it and give it to him next time. (Actually, the watch was not running when we first saw it lying on the ground, but so what.)
Meanwhile, Sherlock and Minyoung rush around the park. Minyoung drops the cab-fare necklace in a half-sunk boat by the dock without realizing it. Sherlock comes along, sees the necklace and falls into the lake trying to fetch it out. He cannot swim, and this is a repeat of a dream he had that heralded his bad luck period. As he drowns, he sees his watch fob (from Yiseol) float away, but manages to save the necklace. Minyoung saves him, but he won’t wake and she performs heart resuscitation and mouth-to-mouth. He wakes up and once again, they stare at each other like goobers.

COMMENTS: I loved that stuff kept breaking around Soo-a. But it wasn’t clear whether the lightbulbs exploded because of her or because Sherlock was standing next to them. Cute. Also cute is Minyoung’s video guide. What a hoot.
I am glad this only took one episode, because it moved a little slowly and that magician wasn't a very compelling fellow, was he.
Also, I was amused that when they show the knives being used in the kitchen, they do not blur them. But when the same knife is held to someone's throat, it is blurred out. Don't know if that's DF or some tvN policy.
