Thanks for flagging that; I moved the post into a new thread if that's okay with you so we can keep particular tabs on this when the series airs. Yeah from what little is online about it, it looks like it definitely will have overlap.
But I wonder how many Koreans will watch a series about the Yuan Dynasty just because that empress is Goryean? Hmmmm....

Probably quite a few because of Ha Ji Won and i guess Empress Ki is getting the QSD treatment instead of being the money grabber she was .

I see they've changed the title of this one to "Empress Ki." Wikipedia says that they decided not to call it Hwatu "to prevent confusion with the similarly named playing cards." Ummm, okay....
Sounds like they're going to turn it into a love-triangle story. And they're also going to turn her into a butt-kicking swordswoman, apparently. UGH...but the bad-guy role, I read somewhere that it will be the guy who played Misaeng in QSD, and he was real good in that, very weasely.

Funny they were going to call it Hwatu because it was Ki's favorite game and she was very adept at it, as such Hwatu was her nickname (according to MBC ). It looks like one for the Iron Empress fans .

So what you are saying is, they changed the name of the drama to prevent confusion with the very thing they meant to reference when they were naming the drama. I'm glad all the buttheads aren't just making American television, then. LOL...

Upcoming drama KBS Jeong Dojeon will also have crossover with both of the dramas.

I believe the thread is here because it's a related show that they were originally discussing in the context of Shin Don. Am I right on that guys?

Yes that is true , Shindon shares a lot of characters with Ki while one drama depicts them as saintly the other depicts them closer to history ,also both dramas will have a lot of the same incidents so this is here to compare .
