This thread is for episode 9 of That Winter, The Wind Blows. Please check the drama info & schedule thread for more info about the series.
---------------------------------------------------------
Young didn’t take the pill but wants to. She’s in a lot of pain. She wants her suffering to go away. Soo offers to give her the pill. He pretends to accidentally knock it to the floor. He spills the contents of the pill on the kitchen floor. He then hands the empty pill to Young. Young heard everything and knows what he did. Young squeezes the pill and know it’s empty.
Someone is at the door. It’s So Ra. Soo tells her to wait outside for him. Soo calls Mi Ra to come over. Soo heads back to the kitchen. He tells Young to take the pill. She does. Before Soo takes Young up to her room, she wants him to turn up the heat in her room. That’s really just an excuse to get Soo out of the kitchen. Young picks up some of the pill contents on the floor and puts them in the empty pill bottle.
Mi Ra arrives. Soo takes Young to her room. Mi Ra cleans up the mess in the kitchen. Soo has an urgent matter to take care of. He wants to take Young to the hospital when he gets back. Young says she’s fine. She took the pill after all. Young asks if the pill really takes away all pain and suffering. Soo answers that there’s no such pill like that. He lied. The pill does nothing. Young wonders why Soo wouldn’t let her take the pill then. She thinks back to the will and their previous conversations about the pill. Young gets upset. Since Young is sick, Soo calls Secretary Wang to come home. Soo leaves.
Young isn't happy to be left alone with Mi Ra. Mi Ra attempts to apologize to Young for her past behavior. She thought Secretary Wang would be kinder to Young if she tattled. Young asks about the doctor who said Young went blind because of RP. Mi Ra answers that Secretary Wang said the doctor was a fraud. If Mi Ra is really sorry, Young wants her help. Mi Ra is to help Young get cleaned up. They’re going to pretend she was never sick. Young doesn’t want to go back to the hospital.
So Ra arranges a meeting with Secretary Wang to talk about Soo. So Ra warns Secretary Wang that Soo is a danger to Young. Soo meets with So Ra. Soo knows she wouldn’t give him the money even if he begged. That’s why he hasn’t bothered to ask for it. She tells Soo about her plan to meet with Secretary Wang. So Ra gives Soo 3 days to wrap up his business with Young. She’s even giving up her acting career, due to her great love for Soo.
Lawyer Jang meets with Detective Yoon. Soo was indeed a gambler but he’s cleaned up his act. There were rumors about him being the son of a chairman and him becoming an Italian chef. After the detective leaves, another man, possibly a lawyer sits down with Lawyer Jang. Detective Yoon is bad news. He’s supposedly working with a hired thug (or vulcan).
Secretary Wang, Myung Ho and Soo are back at the house. Mi Ra assures everyone that Young is fine. Young even ate 3 bowls of porridge. Young says that if she were sick, Soo wouldn’t have left her alone to handle his business. She wonders when Soo and Secretary Wang became so close. She thinks Soo’s behavior might have something to do with the will. Soo wants to sleep in her room but Young wishes to be alone.
Secretary Wang is in the kitchen. The maid remarks that Young didn’t eat anything. Secretary Wang calls Young’s dctor. He assures her that Young was fine during her last checkup. Secretary Wang is concerned that Young’s tumor might have relapsed.
Soo goes into Young’s room. She pretends to be asleep. He writes her a messaged in Braille. He ties a rope to the bell so she doesn’t have to get up from bed to ring it.
The next morning Young is feeling better. She thanks Secretary Wang for her concern. She’s not happy that Soo disturbed her sleep. Young plans to go to the community center. Soo wants to go with her but she wishes to go alone. It’s the only time she has to herself. Soo walks off and goes outside with Jin Sung. Jin Sung is tired of Young and the house. He wants to wrap up their business there asap. He’ll continue following Myung Ho with Hee Sun. Soo should meet with Dong Il and see what’s dug up on Secretary Wang. Jin Sung thinks Soo should stop worrying about Young and start worrying about himself.
We see Young in the cab clutching the pill bottle with the contents of the death pill in it. She meets with a friend to discover what the pill really is. The friend plans to have it tested in a lab. Moo Chul pays off Detective Yoon. He doesn’t want Soo to get caught. If he does, he can’t pay back the money he owes. Detective Yoon warns Moo Chul that President Kim wants to get rid of him and Soo. Moo Chul thinks Soo should ask So Ra for money. That’s why he let her know what Soo was doing. He thought she’d help him. If he can’t get the money from So Ra, he should give Young the pill. Soo wants Sun Hee to examine Young. Sun Hee is a brain specialist. No matter what’s happened between them in the past, including Hee Joo’s death, Soo wants to make saving Young the top priority. Soo has 28 days left to pay back the money.
Lawyer Jang meets with his colleague again. Detective Yoon is working with Moo Chul, a hired thug for President Kim. Con Soo is a well known gambler. There was another Soo (Pro Soo), now deceased, that wanted to be an Italian chef. Con Soo owes President Kim $7 million. So Ra dated Con Soo and is backed by President Kim. Lawyer Jang meets with Joong Tae and his wife. They overheard Hee Sun’s talk with Young. Hee Sun said that Soo owed $7 million. Soo later denied it to Young. Joong Tae plans to go home and find a photo of him and a young Pro Soo.
Jin Sung runs into Moo Chul. He wants Jin Sung to come work for him. Jin Sung doesn’t want to work for a murderer. Jin Sung’s younger sister runs into Hee Sun. Hee Sun wonders how she’s able to afford her clothes. She begins to say she borrowed money from a friend but quickly changes her answer and says she got a part-time job. Hee Sun isn’t convinced and they get into a fight as Jin Sung watches. Soo forgot his appointment with Dong Il. Jin Sung meets with him instead. Dong Il learned that Secretary Wang is the owner of a large building. Even if Jin Sung is upset with Soo, he plans to continue watching Myung Ho. Secretary Wang’s sister thinks someone is investigating them. She calls Secretary Wang to warn her. Secretary Wang arranges a meeting with So Ra as she watches Soo and Young enter the house.
Later that night, Jin Sung and Hee Sun camp outside of Myung Ho’s home. Hee Sun wants to start dating Jin Sung wants this mess with Soo is over. He wants to move to the countryside with his family. She wants to stay in the city. They watch Myung Ho and Secretary Han go inside.
Young doesn’t come down for dinner. Soo eats alone. Secretary Wang speaks with Young in her room. She wants to get a DNA test done on Soo and Young. The previous test results showed they were siblings but left too many question marks for her linking. Secretary Wang mentions Soo being in Young’s room. She believes he was trying to get into the safe. Nothing was missing. Secretary Wang isn’t convinced that Con Soo is really Young’s brother. Young is. He remembers things about their past that only Pro Soo would know. Still, Young is curious what Soo was doing in her room. She plans to lock her door at night. Secretary Wang leaves. Soo Min calls Young. The lab results of the pill are in. It’s a euthanizer to put animals to sleep. It’s not easy to come by either.
There’s a knock at Young’s door. It’s Soo. There’s a doctor he’d like to examine Young. She doesn’t want to hear it and asks him to leave. If her tumor relapsed, he wants her to get surgery. She mockingly responds that he makes it sound like everything will be magically fixed with a simple surgery. She locks the door after he walks out.
The next morning Jin Sung and Hee Sun snap photos as Myung Ho and Secretary Han leave his place. Young gets ready to go out. She thinks back to what Hee Sun said about Con Soo. She goes to Secretary Wang’s office. If there are 2 Soo’s, Young thinks everything can be cleared up by finding the other Soo. Secretary Wang neglects to mention the other Soo is dead and has been for over a year. Secretary Wang notices something about a M&A of Hyun Soo corporation. She calls Lawyer Jang. The shareholders reported it to him. He’ll speak with her about it after he meets with them. Lawyer Jang calls someone to have a glass he sent in fingerprinted. This would be the glass for the portrait that was covering the safe. Soo possibly left his fingerprint on it.
Young searches her bag for Moo Chul’s card. She calls for a cab. Soo asks where she’s going. She nearly whacks him with her cane like she did in episode 2. He doesn’t understand why she’s mad. They should talk things out instead of playing mind games. They can talk after she gets back. She wants to meet with someone first. Soo leaves. Young has the cab driver dial Moo Chul’s number. She arranges a meeting with him at his club. As it turns out, due to the business card she has, Young goes to the wrong address. She has to walk to the right address on her own.
Soo looks over the Myung Ho photos that Jin Sung and Hee Sun took. Mi Ra calls Soo. She blabs about the euthanizer pill. Soo gets a text from Moo Chul. Moo Chul says he’s going to meet with Young. Soo quickly heads out.
Young runs into some thugs on her way to Moo Chul’s club. They claim they can take her there. They attempt to rob Young because she’s blind. Soo shows up to save the day. The thugs run off. Young confronts Soo about the pill. It must have been easy to fool a helpless blind person like her. She collapses to the ground and asks Soo why he couldn’t kill her.

And now... back to your regularly scheduled programming.
This is probably my least favorite episode so far. The bickering and mind games got on my nerves. It was like episode 2 all over again. I guess things were going too well for Soo. They had to stir the pot somehow.
