Our conman Oh Soo is an expert gambler. He was abandoned under a tree as a baby. That's how he got his name Soo, which means tree. It was given to him by the orphanage director. His first love died when she was hit by a truck. He hasn't believed in love since. He's involved with the actress Jin So Ra but doesn't love her.
He meets Young when she comes to his place looking for her brother. He doesn't immediately realize she's blind. He reads Soo's letter to Young for her. Jin Sung warns Soo the cops are looking for him because So Ra framed him for embezzlement. Conman Soo attempts to run from the cops. Young's brother Soo follows him and gets hit by a car. He dies at the scene. Conman Soo gets arrested and goes to jail for a year. Once out of jail, Moo Chul comes looking for him to pay back the 7 million he owes President Kim.
Lawyer Jang comes to him looking for Young's brother Soo. When he realizes it could be a way out of his financial trouble, he pretends to be Young's brother.
Oh Young is the blind heiress of PL Group. She is engaged to Lee Hyung Ho, vice president for PL Group. Her father is gravely ill. Myung Ho is acting chairman in his place. Despite being engaged to him, Young doesn't love Myung Ho. She only went along with it to appease her father.
She's been separated from her brother Soo since her parents got divorced. The last time they saw each other she was only 6. She wasn't blind at the time. The mailman delivers a letter from Soo. He's been writing her for years. Secretary Wang kept the letters a secret from Young. She goes to the mailing address on the envelope to look for Soo.
She meets conman Soo while looking for her brother. When he flees because of the cops, she gets a call about her father being in bad condition. Shortly after, he passes away.
Oh Soo is Young's older brother. He has the same name as conman Soo. He was named Soo, which means protect. Soo and Jin Sung don't believe he's the only son of the PL Group. He says his reason for not going to see his father for some money is because his mother asked him not to. He plans to contact Young and his family after he opens an Italian restaurant.
Soo has been separated from Young since they were kids. He's written Young tons of letters which she never received. He uses conman Soo's place as the mailing address. Young goes there to look for him. He doesn't know Young is blind. Soo has been on his own since his mother passed away. He gets hit by a car while running from the cops with conman Soo. He dies at the scene.
Secretary Wang is Young's butler, driver, etc. She kept Soo's letters a secret from Young for some unknown reason. She's been like a mom to Young since her parents got divorced. She doesn't have a good relationship with Young. Young blames Secretary Wang for her parents getting divorced. It seems she was her dad's lover. When the alarm goes off in his room, she ignores it. This leads us to believe she let Young's father die.
Lee Myung Ho is vice president and acting chairman of PL Group. He's engaged to Young. We're not sure how he feels about Young. We already know she doesn't love him. It seems to be more an arranged relationship on part of Young's father.
So Ra is an actress. She's involved with Soo. He doesn't love her though. She embezzles 7 million from President Kim's club and frames conman Soo.
She visits Soo in jail. She claims to frame him so he wouldn't cheat on her while she's away. He's not interested in her reasoning. They are through.
Jin Sung is Soo's friend and partner in crime. He's a tad violent but loyal to Soo. He waits for Soo to get out of jail so they can work together again. Jin Sung's dream is to purchase a dairy farm for his father.
Hee Sun is the younger sister of conman Soo's first love. She remains close to Soo even after her sister's death.
Moo Chul is a hired thug that comes after Soo to pay back the money he supposedly embezzled from President Kim. He gives Soo 100 days to do so or else.
A year after the death of her father, Young is now acting chairman for PL Group. Young knows the position is only temporary. She'll eventually be replaced by someone the company deems more worthy of being chairman.
Jang Sung is the company lawyer for the PL Group. He intends to surprise Young by finding her brother Soo. He instead runs into conman Soo. Soo quickly realizes the other Soo was telling the truth about who he was. He sees a way out of his money trouble. He tells lawyer Jang that he's Young's brother, Soo.

I do episode 1 summaries more in the form of character introductions. I try to keep it simple so it's not confusing and still cover the events of the episode. I hope it all makes sense.
The rest of the summaries for That Winter, The Wind Blows will be similar to the ones I did for Cheongdam Dong Alice. Not everything happens in the exact order it's brought up in the post.
Why leave the kid under a tree in the middle of winter? Not that I'm condoning abandoning your child, but at least leave them at someone's front door.
That Winter, The Wind Blows is also available for viewing at Viki. We're off to a good start. Looking forward to episode 2.
