MOE Ep.16
David/Sunwoo leaves Pres Jin's house after boldly telling him he'll take PJ's "most precious thing." PJ is not amused.
Jiwon and Sunwoo have some alone time together, reading poetry (in Braille!) to each other--or maybe making it up as they go along. Very nice. However, Jiwon is concerned with Sunwoo’s vendetta and tries to talk him out of it on several occasions, even trying to get Taejoo to stop him “before it’s too late.”
Sunwoo and prosecutor Joonho discuss the holes in Soomi's testimony. She could not have been where she said she was on the dates she said she was there. Sunwoo asks Joonho, "How good a friend of Jangil are you anyway?"
After being confronted by Sunwoo about her story, Soomi finds out her dad plans to tell the truth. She convinces him to take a short vacation with her and reconsider, promising to stay away from Jangil if he does. He goes, because she’s convinced him he still has time to report when they return. So Soomi and her dad do not show up at the prosecutors' office before the limitations clock runs. Jangil is smug, Joonho annoyed—and Sunwoo? Not surprised in the least.
While this is happening, Jiwon and Geumjool go to Soomi's place. It’s empty. Fortunately, an angry Yoonjoo shows up looking for Soomi and lets them in (she rented the place for her). Jiwon discovers a pile of the eyewitness paintings and sends phone-photos to Sunwoo. “Well,” suggests Sunwoo to Sec Koon, “maybe we should share these wonderful pictures.”
PJ engages in bribery and cajolery to get his mining company certified as a good investment. However, this goes for naught as David Kim reveals to the press that PJ’s mining company is a very bad buy. PJ tells Sec Cha to get rid of all evidence of stock manipulation, and he’s gonna GET that David Kim! YAH!
Meanwhile, Mrs PJ and Yoonjoo consult with David and ask him to invest in their new pottery-importing enterprise. David suggests they use their shares in PJ's chemical firm (Jiwon's dad's firm) as collateral for a loan from him. They're thrilled. Also, he asks for a showing of Soomi's “beach pictures.” “Won’t she sue us?” they ask, but David will assume all responsibility because "it's me." OH, right! Looked familiar! And that's Jangil! Did you guys pose for her? Yes, says David, that's what happened.
Jangil's dad searches for and discovers Mr Choi's letter in Jangil's room. Meanwhile, Mrs PJ discovers the blackmailing letter from Choi in which he relates that Mr Kim was "moving on the tree." She hides the letter again when PJ shows up.
Jangil scuppers all of Joonho’s efforts to get behind what’s going on in the case. The SOL runs, and Sunwoo and Jangil talk. Sunwoo wants an apology and an explanation, and he also wants PJ to hang out to dry. Jangil is dismissive and defiant. Jiwon, from her office, hears the whole conversation and looks troubled.
Jangil has been asked to appear on a show where he explains legal situations and then takes outside calls. But this is a setup; his appearance was engineered by Sunwoo. Before the show, Jiwon asks Jangil please to work it out with Sunwoo before things go too far, but he tells her to forget it. During the call-in section, the first call is Sunwoo, who asks about his case against his friend who hit him in the head and left him for dead. Jangil says, yes, that’s attempted murder. I’ll tell you his name, says Sunwoo. PJ, Taejoo and dad Lee lean in to hear what he’ll say. “It’s—Lee—Jang—“ and then Sunwoo hangs up. Mr Lee wishes he’d killed Sunwoo when he had the chance.
Meanwhile, Soomi and her dad return home. She suddenly notices the missing paintings and freaks out.
Jangil leaves the TV studio, turns around and sees Jiwon. Then we get the rest of the story in flashback. At Sunwoo’s office, Sunwoo pressured him by phoning Joonho. He has no choice, he says, he’ll have to ruin Jangil’s career and expose his father as a murderer, unless Jangil helps him pin everything on PJ. Jangil crumbles. Yes, PJ killed your dad. PJ is the murderer of Mr Kim. As Jangil leaves, Sunwoo wishes him luck “on the show tomorrow.” [END]
****
Okay, I’m giggling like a fool when Jiwon, with a cry of “Cover your eyes!” tries to hop the fence and Geumjool gets all freaked out—and then again when she starts throwing stuff at the alarm box. What a scene. Then when hoppity-mad Yoonjoo shows up…oh, yeah. That was all joy for Bo. Also, when Soomi discovered the missing paintings and threw a fit, dad running in was very very funny—pretty clear the actor had been standing in the next room waiting for his cue.
I am totally confused right now. So, is Sunwoo still setting up Jangil, or is this part of their plan together? Is Jiwon asking Jangil to stop the destruction of PJ?
