MOE Ep.14 ON TIME WHOO HOO!
Jiwon leaves in a cab, with Sunwoo chasing after her. He returns to his office and Is Lonely. But, lest gentle readers be distraught, let it be announced: They work it out and get back together. Very romantic. You should watch it.
Mr Choi dreams of a disturbing visit from the dead Mr Kim. Soomi advises him to testify that the exorcism he performed was real and that he really did see Kim’s spirit that day 15 years before, so “it could not have been a suicide.” And that is pretty much what Mr Choi does at his deposition. Unfortunately for him, because of making it up with Jiwon, Sunwoo finally receives his long-lost letter (“Kim Sunwoo, your father was killed by Lee Jangil’s father. [President] Jin Nosik was also involved.”). Suspecting Choi and getting a handwriting sample, Sunwoo determines by analysis that it’s Choi’s letter.
Jangil’s father completely freaks out when he hears about the investigation. Also, when Jiwon pays him back for her mother’s hospital bill, Jangil accepts the money but is ungracious and regretful toward her.
Because David Kim is a very powerful political and financial figure, Jangil’s boss wants results. PJ, Sec Cha, Yoonjoo and Mrs PJ conspire to flimflam the two DAs who are pretending to write a movie treatment about PJ’s life. Sec Cha gets some actors to be “old employees” to be interviewed. Despite the apparent stupidity and danger in this procedure, the DAs swallow it whole.
Taejoo tells Sunwoo about PJ seeing him at the party, and how Taejoo is biding his time before confronting PJ. Coincidentally, PJ shows up and almost discovers Taejoo. He asks about Taejoo’s connection to David Kim’s business and “hopes DK’s murder investigation is over soon so we can work together and make money.”
Sunwoo, who has told Sec Koon that Mr Choi would be on his side, but maybe not Soomi, wouldn’t be surprised by what she does. She chooses a painting from Jangil’s wall of shame and apparently takes it to her deposition. At the interview, conducted by Joonho, despite Jangil’s paranoid fantasy of accusation and discovery, she spins a story in which she witnessed something “she regrets not telling Sunwoo.” That is, that she saw his father that day, depressed and buying ropes at the market. She’s even done a 1997-dated drawing of what “Mr Kim felt that day.” She does not pull out the painting we saw her put into her shopping bag, and she leaves, exchanging silent hallway glances with Jangil.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors are ready to give up the investigation, to Joonho’s chagrin. Later, Sunwoo visits Jangil in his office, and Jangil gleefully tells him the investigation will turn out the same as it did 15 years ago. Sunwoo says yeah, that’s why I’m here to ask you, did your father kill my father?
****
So Sunwoo and Jiwon both read several versions of the same story into books on tape at the Institute for the Blind. How many versions do they actually need of this danged thing? I must say I was generally satisfied with Sunwoo’s reasoning but, as Jiwon pointed out, he was mistaken about how to go about doing it. Leaving her out was stupid. Good thing Jiwon really, really loved him.
That’s it. Soomi’s made herself irredeemable. She is the Puck in this piece, isn’t she. Moving people’s explosive photos around just to eff with them, biding her time for 12 years with her irrefutable proof of Jangil’s crime then handing all the power back over to him. Rather an odd little person our Soomi.
And what’s with those silly peep-toe shoes? Srsly, dudette, srlsly.
