There is a rumor about SBS doing yet another late Goryeo-early Joseon era drama next year with Choi Young as the main character.
It's only a rumor at this point. Nothing official from any articles. Just a rumor spreading around on Korean internet.
If it happens, it'll be a 5th historical about the same era(late Goryeo to early Joseon) in the last 7 years.
SBS The Great Seer(2012) - A fictional seer helps Lee Seonggye establish a new dynasty
KBS Jeong Dojeon(2014) - Jeong Dojeon as main character
SBS Six Flying Dragons(2015) - Lee Bangwon as main character
JTBC My Country(2019) - Fictional love triangle + foundation of Joseon dynasty
SBS Choi Young(2020, rumored) - Choi Young as main character

I didn't think KBS Jeong Dojeon would be that influential, and not in a good way.

If these networks are going to revisit old ground, I just wish one of them would do a really definitive version of the Sado story.

I just realized something. The year 2019 is ending and 2020 is the 70th anniversary of the Korean War. Does this mean dramas taking place during that conflict will arise just like how Comrades came out in 2010?
(MBC also had one but I never bothered to watch it)

Netflix just lost the rights to the last 4 episodes of My Country, no idea what happened?, but only the first 12 episodes are uploaded to watch .
I was actually enjoying it, the first two episodes were really bad,and confusing, then it picks up.
So thanks Netflix, this means i have to look at other avenues .

Sucks when that happens. You'd think these providers would at least have the common decency to give some advance notice when a series is going away.

Its not the first time Netflix have done this AKJ.
I almost canned this because the first two episodes were teen idol fare, and confusing . However from ep 3 Bangwon and Songye are introduced, and dominate the rest of the drama .
The fall of Goryeo is not shown, but discussed, neither is Sambong, that's because the bulk of the story is set between Seongye becoming crowned as Taejo, and Bangwon's coup . Jang Hyeok is just great as Bangwon.

Oh dear, well I did say something about us doing it here...and I do keep my word...OK let's start thinking about it. I've never done Netflix so I'll have to dig into it and post some advance info here.
If the first season is six episodes then maybe we do one of those a week before the new season...or maybe two a week...and do them leading up to the second season. If it's only six episodes it won't be difficult to catch up.

Its funny how Netflix has become THE home to Korean drama's, they have even more than KBS and MBC America now, in fact they have deals with MBC,KBS,NTV,JTCB TV . I do not even bother with the networks anymore as the programming is so weak .
Korean version of Suits is better than the US original.
I thought of doing a Netflix thread, but we cover everything on this one anyway .
Id watch Kingdom again, its great .

My siblings actually watched it for the Tanksgiving weekend. They liked for the most part, but not as much as I did.
My mother loves it.
I do find it somewhat irritating that Netflix dumps all the entirety of a show rather than show episodes weekly like they do with Kdrama.

As Kingdom started in 2018, id rate My Country The New Age as the best Saguek this year, its actually very dark, no love triangles, very bloody at times . Its complete now also . I liked it, of course its a fusion, but its a good fusion .I don't want to give anything away, just that its worth watching .I was really surprised at how grim it was, despite some cliches like cliff jumping .
The only bad point was the nationalistic patriotic "love of country" speech at the very end, it just did not fit, and was out of place. Maybe not as good, but its up there with Mr Sunshine and Kingdom.
