Well I suppose it at least won't have a love triangle, will it.
No room for even one teeny-weeny traditional historical but the executives give the green light to horsebleep like this. Un freaking believable.

First glimpse of that image, it looks like Choi Soo Jong versus The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania. The guy on the left is not Choi Soo Jong. The actor's name is Jang Donggeon.

Yeah I know it's not him, it just looked like him at first glance. And the Ultimate Warrior is dead...the steroids had nothing to do with it. Yeah sure they didn't.

Ahh what a waste.
Its probably hypocritical of me to say I'm not looking forward to this considering I enjoyed Mr. Sunshine, which was a story about fictional characters set during actual hisotrical events, but I prefer mine straight forward. It could be argued that the fall of the Joseon Dynasty and Japan's occupation of Korea has been done alot, so you'll need different POV characters outside of the hisotrical figures to make it stick out.

Honestly, I'm glad they didn't go with the historical name "Asadal" and went with a fantasy name that just happens to sound similar just to say they're doing a straight forward fantasy. But just like you, still not my kind of tea either.

I have not watched this drama yet, but it is closer to a traditional historical than a fusion according to review of first two episodes by a Korean sageuk fan. Despite fictional characters being main characters, the writing puts more focus on Jeon Bongjun according to the review. It looks like Jeong Dojeon's writer had no choice but to follow SBS and Six Flying Dragon director's decision of making fictional characters as main characters, but he still tried as much as possible to make his drama closer to a traditional historical. I have not decided whether I will watch this yet, but it looks like it does try to stick to history as much as possible when the fictional main characters aren't on screen if the review is true.

Huh, so I may or may not have been correct about creative meddling being involved.
Who plays Jeon Bongjun?

Huh, so I may or may not have been correct about creative meddling being involved. Who plays Jeon Bongjun? Choi Museong(Jang Seung-gu in tvN Mr.Sunshine) has been cast as Jeon Bongjun en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeon_BongjunHe's playing a person from the same timeline as Mr. Sunshine. I think Jeon Bongjun's character will be pretty similar to the one he played in Mr.Sunshine too. He was the teacher for the female lead in Mr. Sunshine and he's probably gonna play the same teacher role for the male lead in this drama.
