I agree that the times seem to be unaligned with reality and Mishil eerily young at all times, but she is rather portrayed as a witch, isn't she. I didn't even catch the part where UEE played her as a young woman, I'll have to go back to Ep1 but I thought it was Ko Hyun-jung from the get-go. Maybe they use UEE in a flashback later? Ko Hyun-jung is amazing in this role. I've only seen her play wishy-washies (never got around to Sandglass maybe she's different there), but here, she is brilliant. Creeps me out every time, but totally fascinating. Like Soapy says, I'm just sitting back and letting the fairytale wash over me. LOL... I too wonder what happened to Mishil's first son, with King Jinji. He's in the direct royal line, isn't that "sacred bone"? Wouldn't she think of that? Odd. Are you talking historically or in the drama? Historically, she doesn't have a son with Jinji. She's not even a real person. Even if she was real, there's no way a 65 year old grandmother could have a relationship with someone who is 30-40 years younger. She does have a son in the drama though.... For the drama....(SPOILERS) Bidam is the son of Mishil and Jinji.

Eeek. I'm not the mod on this one, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to put any spoilers here....
...and of COURSE I mean in the drama, silly. ;D From what I've read here, I'm not even attempting to relate Mishil to real history.
I don't know why you think a 65-year-old grandma could not have a relationship with someone 25-35 years of age. Especially when she resembles Demi Moore when she was in her GOOD days.... LOL. However, I agree that she probably wouldn't be popping children out. So what you are saying is, and I'm not at all sure how the timeline works, if she (a) existed at all, and (b) followed the historical dynasty timeline, she would be about 85 at this time? And looking to provide an heir. Riiiiight.....har...
However, and I don't know if I said this already, what makes Mishil think she can produce a male prince (if she can get pregnant at all)? If the line of the sacred bone ends, then it ends, right? The prophecy said nothing at all about getting a different woman to do it. Just that it ended. BOOM.

Bo We're talking about the 500s, when people did not have the access to wonders of modern medicine. Jinji could also get any young women he wanted as his concubine. This doesn't come out in this drama, but he raped a young peasant girl after she refused to be his concubine. It is controversial whether Mishil was actually a real person, but she should be somewhere between 60s to 80s around this time, yes.

I let that one go because at this point there's no easy way to extract it from here, but I did color it to make it difficult to read unless you're really trying to. The spoiler threads, they don't smell bad, I promise; don't fear them.
And truth is right on the time estimate. We first saw her in Ep1 as that young wonhwa leader. Even if she was only twenty then--and that seems really pushing it for someone of her stature--that was the year 572 and now it's (supposedly) 617. Which would make her 65.

Yeah there's no other explanation. The locals are right. She's a demigod. Whats even funnier is that Maya, who should be younger than Mishil, is clearly older. THis is a crazy theory of mine outside of the demigod thing. The secret to Mishil's youth is being drunk on power. What? I know its stupid but hey I'm rolling with it. Meanwhile the sadness of losing her other daughter and her sons clearly took a toll on Maya; hey least that one makes sense

Oh, there's another explanation. Remember the movie "Cocoon"? Where the old people get rejuvenated by swimming in that pool with the alien pods? That's what she's doing. She's in contact with aliens. That little musical motif of hers we hear all the time? Think about it--it's the Shillan "Close Encounters" signal. Aliens have to be around there somewhere--how else do you explain that levitating egg? Nobody batted an eye when that egg was flying around the place; they all know the deal. Maybe that's the communcation device. What worries me is, what are they giving the aliens in return? And why is Mishil afraid of someone stealing her power? There could be an alien war involved. Remember, Mizar exploded--these aliens must have blown off part of it to to destroy their enemies' home world orbiting Mizar. But the Mizarians outsmarted them by planting the seed of alien twins in Maya--like in "Village of the Damned." And now Sundeok will battle for Mishil's power, with the fate of two alien races at stake. I can hardly wait!

I notice how soapy politely ignored ajk's little breakdown there.
ROFL, that is a fantastic exegesis, bro. I think it explains all the mysteries in ONE PASS. When the mother ship arrives, the mystery of the defeat of the Dwemer...I mean, Baekje...kingdom will be finally resolved...

Fantsy and/or fiction - neither of them is actual reality . . so the more fantastic, the better, and why not? Especially if it makes TheBo laugh . . . ;D

My brother and I hhad discussions regarding historical fiction. Both of us like to accept some of these works as alternate timelines

Easy way to figure it out because you would go mental if you tried to match timelines and events .
