Here's the QSD viewing schedule for the first few episodes. Depending upon how things go, we'll either stick to the same pattern for the rest of the series or else tweak it if you guys think it's necessary.
For now I'm going to try to post an episode summary every Friday evening; if I can't get it done on Friday it will be up on Saturday as early as possible. At the same time I'll update the character roster that I'll be maintaining. (See the Iron Empress board for an example of the roster.) We'll consider Friday the official viewing day, so you can post about the weekly episode beginning on Friday. Just please not too early in the day; maybe consider it a Friday night "airing."
This is going to be a dangerous series for spoilers because a good number of you have seen the entire series already. Later this week I'll start a spoiler thread for anybody who finds it necessary to post or discuss spoilers (although I'm hoping people won't be tempted). Please think before you post, and don't ruin any future plot developments for those of us who haven't seen the series. Some people here get very angry about spoilers and we don't need any of that.
The same is true for larger historical information--who dies when, who ascends to what royal position when, who won what battle...all of that stuff. Once something happens in an episode, then it's open for discussion and comment. Until it happens, it shouldn't be mentioned except in the spoiler thread. Again, for the sake of the first-time viewers.
As far as historical information, one thing I've done in past series is put up a sticky thread with links to useful websites and pages that provide historical information for anybody who's interested. I'll try to do the same here, as the series progresses and as the people and the contexts start to present themselves.
Let me give one global acknowledgement right up front. The subtitles that DramaFever uses, and that I'll be relying on to help with the summaries, come from the Written in the Heavens Subbing Squad. Invaluable resource. Credit where credit is due.
I need to clarify the previous post because as I discovered, there are two sets of subtitles available through DramaFever. If you watch the series as a non-member, with the commercials, you get the official MBC subtitles. If you watch as a member, you get the WITH2 subtitles. I always prefer to go with the official sources when available, so I've been using the MBC subtitles as the primary source and the WITH2 as a secondary source.
Why the different sets for member and non-member viewing, I have no idea.
