I really wanted to like this drama. I liked the idea behind it. I liked the cast. It just didn't live up to my expectations.
One of the main problems I had with Musical was Jae Yi. Didn't like him at all. He didn't seem to care for anyone but Eun Bi. You saw Jin grow more as a person and his part of the story was more interesting to watch. Despite that, I didn't think that Jin should end up with Eun Bi. Jae Yi and Eun Bi were OK together. I liked some of the conversations they had, especially the scene where Eun Bi comes clean about how she feels. As much as I like Goo Hye Sun, Eun Bi's nervous laughter got annoying after a while. I wish she would have sang more than one song and that we would have gotten to see more of her [and the musical] on stage.
Personally, I would have liked for Jin to have ended up with Ra Kyung. Jin mishandled his relationship with her. He should have been more honest with her about his feelings. Any chance of them being together was gone by the end. Still, I think he got a raw deal here. I never liked Ra Kyung and Joon Hyuk together. For someone who insisted he wasn't a stalker, he sure acted like one. If you don't want viewers to view his actions as creepy, don't put the idea out there in the first place.
Kang Hee was tough to like but I did like that her and President Han stayed together at the end. The reasoning behind their marriage didn't make much sense to me but people do weird things for love. Ock Joo Hyun [Kang Hee] is extremely talented. She has one of the best voices in Korea. I hope she'll get more acting opportunities outside of musicals.
For a drama called The Musical, we never got to see much of one. Towards the end, the drama focused much more on the relationships. That's not a bad thing though. I liked that some of the characters actually sat down and talked things out. The drama had potential but there wasn't enough there for me to like it. It was OK at best.
