This was a good, not great, comedy. I liked the pairing of Jin and Ae Jung. Some of the supporting characters and side issues I could have done without but they weren't enough of a problem to change my overall opinion of the drama.
Jin was over the top but I think it was intended to show the difference between his public image and his real personality. To me, Cha Seung Won was spoofing his character from Athena. There were quite a few similarities between the two characters.
Ae Jung is your standard female lead. She gets mixed up with the male lead and, before you know it, she's fallen for him. The difference is usually in the performance. Gong Hyo Jin was pretty good in GL.
I liked Pil Joo and Se Ri in general but disliked all the "chasing" she did. I get that Koreans are big on not giving up but she should have just taken no for an answer and moved on. The same could be said for Jae Suk, Ae Wan and Jenny. Yoo In Na [Se Ri] is 29 but still a relatively new actress. She's become quite popular lately and has a good future if she continues to take the right roles.
Since GL dealt with celebrities, I liked that it touched on some issues like internet criticism, good and bad public images and the effect that being related to a celebrity can have on a family. Korean fans have been known to go to extremes on the internet in their love or hate of a celebrity. In reality, all fanbases can be nutty.
So, overall I liked the drama. I even liked the final episode which is a rarity for me. Next up is The Musical starting Tuesday, January 3. From what I've seen, it looks good. I hope you'll all join me in watching it.
