@ truth, queen Seondeok and Jindeok were sisters, right ? No. QSD was the daughter of King Jinpyung and Jindeok was the daughter of Galmun King Gukban.

Jindeok appointed Alcheon as the prime minister as soon as Bidam was executed.... Bidam was REAL? Good heavens, I thought he was just a creation for QSD. Great, now a whole generation of Koreans will know a real historical figure as a chicken-craving nut job. P.S. But I suppose I should wait until QSD ends here to pass final judgment on that.

How do you know the real one wan't a chicken-loving nut case? You have to be kind of nutty to think a woman can't rule a kingdom.

^Actually in regards to that, you have to remember the kind of values in that time period. At the time, a woman king was considered unheard of. The Tang emperor repeatedly mocked Silla for having a female ruler. Besides, the reason he started the rebellion was because of this, which truth posted:
Remember the conversation that took place in QSD? They mentioned Cleopatra and how she brought ruin to Egypt

QSD speaks Greek and has a white friend in that drama, so that shouldn't be a surprise lol.

Sure hope we get subs soon. Since Kim Chun Chu is the main character, are the writers taking the point of view that he should have been Jipheung's rightful heir, but due to political squabbling, Seondeok and Jindeok got to be king before him? It certainly sems like he and his father are constantly being victimized. Am I totally mis-reading what's going on? Episode 8 . . . . . . . . . . . . What the? ?? Deokman's being married off to her uncle? Can we forget about the cavemen now and get on with the story?

I must confess i have not watched this yet but despite the tasty storyline there were many ominous signs this was going to stink though i could be wrong on that .
(1)Having the director of Iron Empress helming this ,Empress is possibly the worst Historical ever made .
(2)The casting of various T-Ara's and K'ara's never a good sign when you have to stack a drama with idols to get people to watch it .
(3)Bad 80's hair bands never went away they moved to South Korea and got gigs in Historical Dramas as evidenced by the caveman quartet with 80's hair styles and headbands .
The Empress Director seems to be the killer blow though after that crap this man should never have been allowed near a camera again .
Of course i am being overtly harsh considering i have yet to see it but im basing my impression on some of the comments read here .
Interesting that Chun Chu's mom is an older woman as well as opposed to the youthful version in QSD .

LOL. how can deokman forget that scene when gukban shoot an arrow that almost hit her? is sado behind this again? well, if gukban married deokman... would his galmoon title becomes obsolete, thus giving him a chance to ascend to the throne then? seeing lady mano not giving a F to gukban seems not right. isn't she his mother? but instead it's the queen dowager who appears to show so much affection to this madman also, can someone explain gildal's connection to sado? and bi hyung to youngchun's? ep9 preview: jindeok looks exciting! subs please. ppalli! ppalli!

mugwump Deokman marrying Gukban is fiction just as her falling in love with Bidam in MBC version was fiction @dyc T-ARAs and KARAs were never casted for this drama. hapha Deokman was forced to marry Gukban. Gildal and Sado are both evil. Bi Hyung and Yong Chun are half-brothers. Mano is King Jinpyung's mother, not Deokman.

There's something I'm very curious about. I see that the symbol of Silla shown in the drama is the Horse, referring to the Chonma that brought the egg from which Pak Hyeokgeose hatched from. But later on, the Park clan was overthrown and a new family later took the throne. That family were the descendants of Kim Alji, in which legend says that he was found in a box with a rooster crowing over it. The Royal Family of Silla was the Kim Clan, and one of Silla's names is Kyerim, or "rooster forest". The Park family was still alive, but don't you think the symbol of Silla should a rooster? Or would that have been too disrespectful to their founder?
What's Baekje's flag anyway? King Geunchogo constantly mentioned the "Natu", whatever that is. SOme bird or soemthing.

Annals of King Taejong Muyeol(603-661. R.654-661) - I'm going to skip the stuff that I already translated on Jinpyung, QSD and Jindeok's story
Taejong Muyeol was the son of Kim Yongchun and Princess Cheonmyung. His full name was Kim Choon Chu. On 626, KCC became the Pungwolju(Leader) of the Hwarangs at the age of 24. He was a diplomat under King Jinpyung, QSD, and Queen Jindeok's rule. On 654, KCC became the king at the age of 52.
When Queen Jindeok passed away, every royal court members wanted to enthrone Alcheon as the new king. Alcheon was very popular with the people at the time. During QSD era, a tiger appeared while Alcheon was discussing the affairs of the state with Imjong, Suljong, Horim, Yeom Jang, and Kim Yushin at Uji Cliff. Everyone was intimidated by the tiger except Alcheon. Alcheon simply smiled and beat up the tiger with his bare hands. He also won almost every battles he was in. He was appointed as the Prime Minister under Queen Jindeok's rule. Alcheon was greedless, so he recommended KCC as the new king.
On January of 655, Goguryeo allied with Baekje and Malgal to invade Shilla. Shilla lost 33 fortresses as a result. Muyeol quickly asked Tang for help. Emperor Gaozong of Tang sent Cheng Ming Zhen the Governor of Yingzhou and General Su Ding Fang to attack Goguryeo. Goguryeo and its allies retreated from Shilla due to this attack.
Around this time in Baekje, King Uija supported Imja over Sung Choong. Uija spent all his days drinking after all the victories in Shilla. Sung Choong was imprisoned for telling Uija to stop drinking. He eventually died in prison.
On 658, Tang sent Xui Rengui and Cheng Ming Zhen to attack Goguryeo again and attacked again on 659.
On January of 660, Kim Yushin was appinted as the new Prime Minister after Geum Gang died. On March, Emperor Gaozong of Tang appointed Great General Su Dingfang as the Total Commander and Muyeol's son Kim In Moon, who was studying in Tang at the time, as the Lieteunant Commander and gave them 130,000 troops to help Shilla attack Baekje.
Su Dingfang planned to attack Baekje's capital on July 10th. King Muyeol gave 50,000 troops to Crown Prince Bupmin and General Kim Yushin and ordered them to join Su Dingfang's army. Muyeol stayed at Geumdol Fortress.
On July 9th, Kim Yushin fought against Baekje's General Gyebaek at Hwangsanbul. Kim Yushin and Pumil divided the army into three and attacked four times, but they could not defeat Gyebaek. Kim Yushin's brother Kim Heum Soon ordered his son Kim Bangul to break through the enemy front, but Bangul was killed by Gyebaek. Left General Pumil then ordered his son Gwan Chang to break through the enemy front. Gyebaek admired the young man's bravery, so he let Gwan Chang live and sent him back to the Shilla front. Gwan Chang was embarassed by this, so he tried one more time as soon as he came back to the Shilla front. Gyebaek beheaded Gwan Chang this time, put his head on his horse, and sent it back to the Shilla front. The Shilla army was enraged by Gwan Chang's death, which enabled them to fight more fiercely and win the battle. Gyebaek died by the end of this battle.
Baekje was powerless without Gyebaek. On July 12th, Sabi(capital city) was conquered. King Uija fled to Woongjin Fortress. Tang and Shilla surrounded the fortress and attacked continuously. On July 18th, King Uija surrendered with his Crown Prince, and Baekje generals.
Muyeol held a party for Uija after he surrendered. When Uija and his son Yoong poured alcohol for King Muyeol and Su Dingfang, Baekje's Prime Minister and every Baekje court members wept.
However, Baekje forces weren't completey destroyed. General Heukchi Sangji was still guarding the Imjon Fortress. King Mu's nephew Bokshin and Monk Dochim were continuing their fight at Juryu Fortress.
On June of 661, Muyeol passed away at the age of 59.
King Taejong Muyeol had 3 wives.
1st wife : Lady Boryang was the daughter of Bojong. She gave birth to a daughter named Kotaso. She died of labor pains while giving birth to a 2nd child.
2nd wife : Queen Moon Myung was the 2nd daughter of Kim Seo Hyun, the son of Kaya Prince Kim Muryuk of Kaya and Lady Manmyung, the sister of King Jinpyung. Her full name was Kim Moon Hee. Kim Yushin was her brother. Kim Yushin wanted his sister to marry KCC. One day, Kim Yushin ripped KCC's ties on purpose by stepping on it while he was playing Cuju(Chookguk in Korean) with KCC. He then suggested taking the tie to his house to get it sewn. Kim Yushin wanted Bo Hee to sew it, but Moon Hee did it instead since Bo Hee was ill at the time.
Moon Hee sew Yusin's tie sitting right next to him and the two fell instantly in love. Kim Yushin pretended to be unaware of their relationship.
10 days earlier to this event, Moon Hee bought a dream from her sister Bo Hee. Bo Hee went up to a mountain in her dream and urinated. The whole Seorabul(Kyungju) was flooded with her urine. When Bo Hee told Moon Hee about her dream next morning, Moon Hee bought the dream with a silk skirt.
KCC often visited Kim Yushin's house to meet Moon Hee from this point on and Moon Hee was eventually pregnant with KCC's baby. KCC kept this secret to avoid trouble. Kim Yushin scolded Moon Hee and spread the rumor about her having a baby without a father. He of course did this to force KCC to get married to his sister.
One day, Kim Yushin gathered woods and set it on fire. Kim Yushin intended Princess Deokman to see the smokes from the fire since Deokman was on her way to have a picnic at South Mountain. When Deokman saw the smoke from the fire, she asked one of her subject about the smoke.
The subject answered, "Yushin is probably burning his sister to death." QSD : "Why would he burn his sister to death?" Subject : "Because his sister bore a baby without husband." QSD : "Who caused(impregnated) it?" KCC was also following Deokman to the picnic at the time and he couldn't raise his head upon hearing Deokman's question. Deokman saw KCC's gloomy face and said "You caused it. What are you doing here, not saving her?"
KCC got on his horse, went straight to Kim Yushin's house, and "saved" Moon Hee by delivering Princess Deokman's order. KCC and Moon Hee married a while later. Moon Hee became Queen Moon Myung when KCC became king.
Queen Moon Myung gave birth to King Moonmu, Prince In Moon, Prince Moon Wang, Prince Nocha, Prince Jigyung, Prince Kaewon, and Princess Jiso.
3rd wife : Bo Hee also married KCC while after Moon Hee married KCC. She gave birth to Prince Gae Ji Moon, Prince Cha Deuk Ryung, Prince Madeuk, and two princesses.
