Evolution is a natural thing, though I don't intend to become a courtroom artist. There's still hope for drawing artists out there in other fields.
Some of my other scenes that I didn't get to draw/upload were these: Bae Joongson gives a box of heads to Wang On as a present, to show how many "Mongol dogs" the rebels killed. Understandably this disgusts the puppet king. It establishes Bae Jungson's strong anti-Mongol sentiment and sheer ruthlessness in general, as well as the grip the rebels have on Wang On. The other scene had WOnjong berating the governor of Jeolla, Sin Sajon for retreating when the rebels came to the mainland, going as far as to call for his execution. Historically SIn Sajon was never executed, so I came up with this scenario: KIm Banggyong convinces the king to spare Sin, arguing that the years of war have taken a toll on the military, so he probably didn't stand a chance. Kim instead suggests he be stripped of his possessions and be exiled so he can reflect on his failure.
I love how Roh's horse looks bloodthirsty

Aw, you have to draw that "present" scene; that's quite a tale and you could really make a striking image of it.
You know--heads they lose, tales you win!

Interesting that Henthorne's book Koryo During The Mongol Invasions describes Kim Imjung (did not know about the Im ) as ruthless and paranoid ,after Choe Hangs demise Kim conducted a purge of rivals and comrades exiling them . Also suggests Im Yon offed Kim before he to was given an involuntary vacation to a far flung island .
Id vote for this to follow QSD .
As Shindon pretty much covers the period after Kim's demise is it really that bad ?.

I'm sorry DYC, are you voting for "God of War" or "Shindon" to follow QSD, when you say "this"?
Not being snotty. Just trying to figure it out.

Yes indeed i was not clear ...FLU ....Honest !!!!. "God Of War" i think as that is the time period before "Shindon" and leads into those events .
I was also wrong on Kim (In)Jung ,it was Choe Ui and Yangbaek who were the paranoid ones . Kim seems to have been an all around stand up guy ,with his younger brother and three sons they were pro Royalist and fierce anti Mongol .
Ui and Yangbaek planned a sweep of the Kim faction but made the mistake of waiting until morning to unleash the swat team of yore .
Kim got wind of the plot and launched a drive by of sorts coupled with 13th century burglary ,after lighting up the area with hundreds of torches they caught Yangbaek held him down and shoved burning torches down his throat before decapitating ,Ui tried to climb over the wall ,failed ,ran only to be stabbed and relieved of his head .
Despite claims of restoring power to the Emperor Kim was de facto ruler for 10 years ,Im Yon began to grow tired of him and assassinated Kim and his family and followers .Im himself only lasted two years before he and his brothers were dispatched by the Sambyeolcho .
When Khublai ordered the invasion of Japan ("Hello Samurai !!!, Oh boy was that a bad idea !")and demanded Koryo build 300 ships and supply troops Kim led the opposition faction ,Also Kim was most upset when the Mongols began sending Korean envoy's to Japan to order them to surrender ,of course this was a one way trip as Japan's ruling body the Hojo led by the young dynamic regent Tokimune sent the heads back only .
Funny not really to much info on Kim Injun in fact the main subject of the book seems to be the traitor Hong Takgu a Korean general fighting for the Mongols (his father is depicted in God Of War ) and i am sure Truth can come up with much better historical info than my meager offerings but the book is well worth a read for us non Korean speakers and readers .

That's cool. You were from Vietnam, I believe? I think you guys should make your own drama about Mongol invasion, because you guys were actually successful in defeating the Mongols unlike Korea which was eventually defeated after 60 years of fighting back.

Yes,I'm living in Vietnam but the chances to watch good historical dramas about the ancient time is really "beyond remote."Since recently, this genre and this period neither have been focused nor had great influence on our drama making industry. There were some historicals had been made and broadcasted too but they weren't very popular.
It doesn't mean that we don't want to make historicals, but the making films procedure is costly and having too much difficulties challenged the production team. Especially, they are good scripts, filming scenes (we don't have fixed and ready to use sceneries like Korea or China), clothings and good actors, of course.
On the other hands, the topic we centered mostly is the time during the Vietnam Wars and later on, in 1980s.

The Troung sisters would make a great drama Hung .. OF course, and there are lots of male/female heroes throughout the time, building their own eras and fight off against invasions, especially the Chinese. But making dramas telling their stories and honor their effort is surely beyond the producer teams' ability, they needed much improvement before thinking of starting a historical project. As MTR mentioned about Troung sisters, they were the first reigning queen in my country from 40 to 43 AD and must have been the earliest female ruler(s) in the world. Alright, the subbing project of this drama in our website is going on well now and 4 episodes have been up already, so I think it's better to pull off the previous message asking for help here.

Wasn't sure where to announce it since it isn't a medium we usually cover, but this seemed fit. Recently, a graphic novel about the Sambyeolcho Rebellion was announced a couple months ago. It is being made by manhwa artist Hyung Min-woo, who is best known for the horror-action comic Priest, which was made into a film in America. Somebody beat me to it. Sigh. Link for article announicng it, though only truth can read it. Image previews at least for non-Korean speakers. news.sbs.co.kr/news/endPage.do?news_id=N1002906081
