Ep.46
While God’s Sword infiltrates San’s palace, through a series of circumstances, (a) Insp Hong realizes the true assassination plan, (2) Dae-su stumbles into the carnage left behind by G-S and ends up confronting the backup assassins all alone; (iii) Song runs all over the palace in the dark failing to find guards, but then finds an injured San (who killed G-S and then disappeared from his chambers) trying to get help; and (Z) Hong (with the missing guards) rescues D-S and captures the backup assassins, who are then interrogated. Lots of bumbling, but all turned out well.
Many Noron ministers are arrested. Jeong wants to turn himself in and send Princess to Qing, but she insists he come with her. When San finds out they escaped, he figures out they'll go to Qing and which port they'll leave from. Jeong’s men pull a lot of tricks to get P&J to the ship, but at the last second Hong prevails and they are captured. (P&J - I like that. Too bad I didn't think of it sooner since they'll clearly be gone soon.)
Song is questioned by Hong about the fake worker/killer. Poor Artist Tak hired the guy, so he may be splashed with mud, but Song defends him. Later, the police question the chief while Mr. Tak agonizes, all his co-workers trying to reassure him. Mr. Lee disavows all knowledge of any darned “co-ro-na-tion.” Mr. Tak must get cleared, because he later appears at the interrogations with Song as artists of record.
In the public square, the people gather to taunt the traitors. When Mak-soon visits Uncle to see if Dae-su is okay, he concludes she still cares for him (Uncle). Lady Hye’s father implores her to at least save the life of her uncle (his brother). She is shocked/offended, perhaps disgusted, by this request. (Heck, it's Gyun Mi-ri--she's giving us all that stuff with just her curling lip and eyebrow of fury. Genius.)
Hong visits Jeong at the prison and asks him to confess now so he can be spared extended torture/interrogation. Jeong imparts wise words that Hong will come to the same end, as he loves power as much as Jeong does. Hong sniffs his disbelief and leaves. Poor sot.
The ministers are "interrogated" under San's supervision, and it's maybe worse than normal; they mostly confess immediately. Princess cringes in her cell as the men cry out in pain. San tells Sir Choi he knows all, the ministers are already indicted, he's just trying to find out co-conspirators. Choi is fearful of governmental collapse due to San's hecatomb. San says he is sorry he didn't stop their treasonous offenses sooner, and it is his duty to purge and stabilize government by doing this.
After struggling between King Y-J's earlier wishes (let the queen live) and last wishes (she should be punished), San has Hong bring in the queen for interrogation. She is insulted by Hong's insolence. Later, she goes back to her palace alone--it doesn't appear anything happened to her. but she's angry.
San ruminates on the nature of kinghood. Then he hears that the queen tried to commit suicide in the night.

Okay, so San goes out his door and sees lots of bloody bodies. Instead of running in to get a sword, he checks them? What? Get your sword, THEN check the bodies. But the fight was exciting stuff—sort of a replay of the first assassination scene with the adult San. Listen to the sound of the room, grasshopper! Whack! Whack! Our man down! Hair ornament to the chest! YEAH-yah!
And then, D-S comes to the King's chambers and when he finds the servants’ bodies - in front of the King's door - again with the checking of the bodies? No rushing in to see if the killer was in the king's room? Sheesh! But again, the backup assassins coming over the rooftops, and later on the same with the army guys--that was pretty darned good.
Yes! Hecatomb, I say, it's a hecatomb!!!!! ;D
