Ep 45
God's Sword pretends he's a construction worker who got off into the wrong palace. He escapes Eunuch Nam due to San’s mercy. Hong and Dae-su plus 2 can't find anything on the Norons, who are just selling their land. Meanwhile, Jeong, frustrated at the lack of news from God's Sword, accepts his cohort’s offer of backup assassins.
San finds Song checking the paint job late at night and teases her. She takes it seriously as usual, and they laugh together. She reassures him about becoming a good king.
Hong, who has a bad feeling, tries to get San to delay the coronation and hide out, but he won’t. Dae-su then tells Hong how strange it is that Jeong’s men keep going to the same, out-of-the-way tavern and sitting around all day. So the tavern is watched and D-S+2 manage to capture a letter from God’s Sword to Jeong, setting the assassination for coronation day. (So Jeong doesn't know what's in the letter, and San does.)
Coronation day, all the ministers’ cluck like chickens, sure they’ll die. Jeong decides to attempt to intercept G-S, but his men are arrested and so is the assassin (by Dae-su).
San and Hyeoui visit a deliriously happy Lady Hye. (Funny, she keeps talking about her own death and then she actually outlives all these guys). The festivities begin, and they are very impressive indeed. San announces he is the son of Crown Prince Sado and anyone who says otherwise isa jerkface committing treason. Also, he instates his mother as dowager queen.
Hong sends all the guards home to rest. Noron faction members receive ominous visits from palace guards/police. Jeong, about to commit suicide, is surprised by God’s Sword, in the flesh. G-S says the captured letter was a trap for San. At the same time as Insp Hong finds out there is no hard evidence against the men arrested that day (particularly, no weapons), G-S begs to be let into the palace to “finish his painting job.” He succeeds.
As Uncle and Dae-su drool over D-S’s probable promotion, Song is leaving the palace grounds when she notices the limping workman unaccountably has shown up (she noticed his absence earlier). Only—she notes--he’s not limping.
It’s late and San’s boys want him to go home. G-S, in “sneak” mode, wends through the grounds and then unnecessarily kills some guards. San reads quietly. A skulking crew of unknown men (backup assassins?) runs around pretty noisily in the dark. Outside, a eunuch finds all San’s servants have been murdered, and he also is killed by G-S. San hears the “whick” of the sword and thump of the body falling and calls out a demand to know what’s up. No one answers; G-S stands outside with his bloody sword; San rises from his desk.

So far, definitely my favorite.
