---------------------------------------------------------
In Bang plans to attack Jeong Jo again while the procession is passing Mt. Gwanggyo.
Since Hyang Bi doesn't seem to know what In Hyung is up to, Yak Yong has officer Kim escort her to Hwaseong. Yak Yong is informed by a gunsmith supervisor that the Daedong group was using materials that would allow them to detonate explosives under water and use a musket in the rain.
Jeong Jo and his mother discuss Prince Sado's death in more detail. She explains that Prince Sado had secretly gone to Pyeongyang. That Jeong Jo's grandfather Hong Bonghan learned from the Governor of Pyeongyang, Jeong Hwiryang, that Prince Sado was planning an uprising and to march on the capital. That he was tired of King Yeong Jo being taken advantage of and planned to rise to the throne. That Lady Seonhee somehow found this out and that's what got Prince Sado killed.
The Noron party plan to kill Lee Myeongshik and Jo Shimtae at the Jinmokjeong reception. They would then attack Jeong Jo during the military drill. Jeong Jo would be exiled to Ganghwa Island. He would be replaced by Prince Jeongye but the Queen Dowager would rule in his place.
Yak Yong inspects the procession route for the most likely locations that the Daedong group might attack from. Chun Deuk informs him that the drill instructor, Gu Myeongnok, was seen with the Minister of War, Shim Hwan Ji. He's rumored to be the son of traitor Gu Seonbok. Yak Yong wonders if the Noron party might try to kill Lee Myeongshik and Jo Shimtae at the Jinmokjeong reception to gain control of Hwaseong. He thinks it would be possible if Governor Seo Yubang was on their side.
The procession continues on. In Bang and his followers attempt to kill Jeong Jo at Mt. Gwanggyo but are spotted by scouts and are forced to retreat once again. Yak Yong learns of the thwarted plot and fears they may try something again unless they're caught. Yak Yong is then informed about the suspicious movements of the drill instructor, Gu Myeongnok, and 30 of his men. He concludes that they must be after Lee Myeongshik and Jo Shimtae at the royal reception. He orders Chun Deuk to go there and protect them.
Yak Yong speaks privately with Chief State Councilor Chae Je Gong and reveals his findings. He asks the Chief State Councilor to request that Shim Hwan Ji go to the royal reception. That Lee Myeongshik should always be by Jeong Jo's side to help protect him. The Noron party members are baffled by the request but Shim Hwan Ji insists that nothing has changed and they should proceed as planned.
