This thread is for discussion of episode 14 of My Man's Woman. Please check the drama info & schedule thread for more info and rules on how to avoid spoilers and such. --------------------------------------------------------- Hwa Young and Ji Soo talk about Joon Pho, the affair and their friendship. Hwa Young needed someone to talk to and she missed Ji Soo. When Hwa Young gets back, Joon Pho is immersed in his work and didn't even notice she was gone. Hwa Young's mom pays her a visit along with Dong Ha. They, of course, argue about Hwa Young and the family. They want Hwa Young to go back to the US. There's no food at home so Joon Pho has dinner with Ji Soo and Kyung Min. When he gets home, Hwa Young isn't happy to hear about his "family" dinner. Joon Pho wants to spend Kyung Min's birthday with him but Hwa Young objects to it. She feels Joon Pho doesn't spend enough time with her. Eventually she gives in and Joon Pho has dinner with Ji Soo and Kyung Min for his birthday. Kyung Min has a small party at home with Ji Soo, Eun Soo, Kyung Soo, Sun Hwa and his cousin.

Yah, and he actually looks happy at THAT party. ;D So, did the whole thing in the supermarket take place at the end of Ep.13 or the beginning of Ep.14? I thought Eunsoo's stirring speech to the neighbors in front of the meat counter took place at the start of this one. I'm beginning to think that gal has a self-control problem. Ahem. You know, JUST when you're starting to feel some sympathy for Hwayoung, after her visit with Jisoo and conversations with and about her family (Mama is a hoot), she pulls that birthday stunt. Really, get.a.grip. PS - So Mama was driving me nuts, she seemed so familiar, and I looked her up, she's Kim Young-ae, whom some may recognize from Tender Hearts (Dongguk's mom) and whom I recognized from Did We Really Love, which I am watching separately. Whew.

So, did the whole thing in the supermarket take place at the end of Ep.13 or the beginning of Ep.14? It was in episode 13.

If I am not mistaken....isn't there a law in Korea that states that adultery is a punishable crime. If that is the case, why has this not come up as yet in this drama?

Yes, adultery is a punishable offense in Korea. Not only the spouse but the other person involved in the affair can be punished. In early episodes, when Eun Soo first found out, there was talk of Hwa Young possibly being sued but not much beyond that. I think the makers of the drama didn't want it to simply be an affair, then lawsuit and break-up type of drama. I think they wanted to focus more on the relationships between the characters. Plus, while Ji Soo and Joon Pho's marriage might be beyond saving at this point, I think they would both prefer to keep the split as quiet as possible. That's a reason why they didn't officially file for divorce.

Yes, I was actually kind of surprised that Eunsoo made a general announcement, in her own neighborhood, that would bring the whole family under such censure. Jisoo's kid has to go to school there. I think this makes us see what a hothead she is. That, and the fact she's willing to injure the breadwinner for the entire extended family.
BTW, Knov, my hand is getting better. TG4 spellcheck. Har. Thanks for transferring that text for me. Here's a funny thing--with my facial injuries, I actually look a little like Eunsoo. Weird.

I think Eusoo's behavior at the grocery store was horrible-- even if she wants to stand up for her sister, to yell at them and make such a comotion was extreme, really doesn't makes sense either with her married to a guy that also had affairs- to me it would just make it tougher in the long run for Jisoo and Kyung Min. I tought it was amazing the difference Kyung Min showed for his two birhtday celebrations, he looked soo happy at the 2nd one! I almost felt sorry for Hwa Young when she went to talk to Jisoo and when her brother and mother were talking to her, but her behavior with Joon Pho makes her look like a spoiled brat- the way she pouts when things don't go her way or when she has to make food for Joon Pho-it's almost funny!

I agree with you on all counts, Bird. But the funny thing is, I'm starting to like her. At least she tells people when they are hurting her, not like so many K-drama heroines who just look down and keep quiet. In fact, all these women are willing to speak up. I like that.
