Athena: Goddess of War was a good idea gone bad. I liked the idea of an anti-terrorism agency trying to stop a terrorist organization but there were too many flaws and inconsistencies.
It was too centered around nuclear technology. I understand that they wanted to focus on one issue but that made things stagnant fairly quick. It didn't help that the good guys were fairly boring. They made the bad guys far more interesting. The character that stood out the most was Son Hyuk [Cha Seung Won]. Oh, and of course, we can't forget about the Kia Optima lol.
They didn't seem to know what to do with Hye In [Soo Ae] as the drama went along. It was fine to have her switch sides but, once she did, she just stood there most of the time doing nothing. Her relationship with Son Hyuk was 10x more interesting than anything between her and Jung Woo.
Jung Woo [Jung Woo Sung] would have been more likable if the script were more consistent. I did like the relationship he had with the NTS director. Within NTS, there seemed to be no accountability and too much of a person saying one thing and then doing another.
They waited way too long to bring in Sun Hwa's [Kim So Yeon] part of the story and almost seemed pointless in the end because it didn't go anywhere.
I'd give this drama a D. Even if it's a Iris spin-off and you want to see it before Iris 2, you can take a pass on this and not worry about missing anything important.
