[Sorry guys, major migraine yesterday] Synopsis Ep.10: Wujin hands in her resignation, but it is held temporarily by the news boss. Taesok and Soonchul try to help Wujin; others do nothing even if they think her innocent or, like Myung-eun, actively cut her down and are pretty nasty. Soonchul challenges Taesok and thinks he’s not doing enough, but is repeatedly slapped back. Wujin is again threatened, in a dark alley, by a gang headed by the union boss and his wife; she also walks the renewal area and notices many current residents have posted signs in protest. Her parents support her and comfort her; even her brother’s sympathies are engaged. S and T both try to locate Jaeho; Taesok succeeds and interviews him, filming secretly as Jaeho says he just did what he was told. (We learn the commission believes Jaeho is a disgruntled Younghwan employee and THAT is why they think he bribed Wujin to destroy Younghwan, which actually makes some sense now.) T tells Jaeho he was filmed, can he reveal it. Jaeho is relieved he can do something to help Wujin, and T expresses his joy that someone Wujin “likes” is “not a dirtbag.” This footage, along with Soonchul’s evidence, is used to “convince” Younghwan Co. to drop all charges, clear up the “misunderstanding” about the purse and have Wujin reinstated. (This convincing takes place in a creepy scene between Younghwan’s president and Dir. Lee, the news boss and Taesok—looks like something out of a godfather movie.) Wujin takes a few days off and gets Soonchul to investigate the unhappiness of current residents in the urban renewal area. They get together a report, including some amusing interviews with residents and visitors, and it is aired (by Soonchul) without mentioning Younghwan Co. Everyone—coworkers, news boss, Mr. Ahn—figure out it’s Wujin’s work, even Myung-eun is nice. The coworkers are going to dinner, but in the spirit of cooperation, Taesok has told the political dept. his reporters will cover a big candlelight vigil/rally about imported beef for them. Wujin & Soonchul volunteer; the episode ends with them going out into the big, scary crowd together.
My favorite is when T gets a call about W in the presence of Myung-eun and Juhee. Myung-eun says “Why should he care? She’s fired!” and Juhee says, “You’re stupid.” LOL. (I also was interested by the fact that they all were willing to forgo getting revenge on the newspaper when it was a false rape charge against a boy, but were not willing to give Wujin the benefit of the doubt or really support her in any way whatsoever.)
